I had always assumed that the buckets had some sort of purifying liquid and the pinecone thing was a means of sprinkling it. Glad to see that my hunches are supported by the inscriptions. (Especially since I teach ancient history, among other subjects.)
Do you know about the channel Ancient Americas? He has the same approach that's grounded in current research, but focused on the Americas (obviously). He does fantastic work.
It's soooo tempting to imagine dignitaries and supplicants passing through a series of apotropaic rituals like it was airport security! Do we know much about the people who would've been performing these sorts of rituals?
Damn i love your videos man, one of my favorite subjects is middle eastern bronze age and this channel is really scratching that itch, sources, hypothesis, images, quotes from the actual objects and sources?! You are a goldmine, i really look forward to more videos
Great stuff, thanks for making it. I like stuff here more than some things about our penial gland which is very small compared to what is shown. Also interesting to learn about scapegoat in turn. Lol
Very cool video! The first thing that came to mind for me with the cone in combination with the bucket is the variation of implements used to spread holy water in catholic and orthodox rituals
Water pipes, irrigation, purification, even the bag is the first step in creation of technology. Can you make a bag? A water tight bucket? You can make everything else.
It's a video about what it actually is (hint: not a pineal gland, but most likely a date palm front), and the historical context of what it represented (the warding of evil, purification, i.e. just religious symbolism)
Thank you for starting at pineal gland in the thumbnail, don’t have to waste my time listening to whatever bull you start yapping. It’s clearly a plant…
The video is literally about how it is, in fact, not a pineal gland, and then goes through about the actual context of the what it is (most likely date palm imagery). You should probably check what channel you're on before you start attacking it.
Oh btw I’m very very familiar with the tree of life hence my original momentary interest but hesitance as the discussion seemed to be absurd. Communication and optics maybe my bad alil for getting a lil emotional about my intrests and whenever they appear in the world but are corrupted with utter nonsense.
There’s to many braying donkeys in ancient history discussions, they filled the internet with more crap than sense. We have to be less tolerant of them, we have to take history back to the Real. Yeah I know they are crap, but does Joe know they are crap? They need to be called Idiots to their faces so they can feel shame in spreading bollocks theories than this tolerant society that lets em continue until Joe listens to them and they start to become Gods.
This explanation makes a lot more sense than some wild hypothesis invoking the pineal gland.
It sure does! Thanks for your comment!
Maybe- but those buckets are found all around the world. They all using holy water?
Man! This channel is fantastic!
Thanks! 😃

To me the bag is a power source and the pine cone looking thing is a weapon
Genuinelu scholarly attitude. Sadly too rare
We agree and want to help fill that gap. We appreciate the recognition for what we are trying to do and for your support!
I know Graham. He’s good at selling books. Summerian expert he is not.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who know just enough to sound like an expert even though they are not. Thank you for your support!
Goofy hypothesis. Yours is better.
Looks like a pear to me. Sorry I couldn’t watch with such a ridiculous title 😂
A pear with scales?

We are sorry you did not watch the video. If you had, you would have seen we do not believe it was a pineal gland.

Maybe don’t even entertain it being a pineal gland then, I don’t I’ve got eyes 😅
