That was thrilling!! I highly recommend watching in it's entirety. You have to think about it but it's worth it. I learned so much! Thank You! (longboats with bears at either end?)
That is a half true statement. Leif Erickson landed in Newfoundland and settled there for about 20 years. There is no evidence that they came to America. However, if I could choose who to recognize who discovered the Americans (including Canada) yeah, Leif Erickson has my vote. He was far more ethical than Columbus. Columbus was not very good to the indigenous people’s of the land, miss treating them is putting it politely.
The statement at 1:36:52 stating “as far as America” is incorrect. It should be, “as far as North America what is now Canada”. They are a country. Give credit to them, the are part of a continent not a country. Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The only thing that ties it North America is that it is sitting partially on the North America tectonic plate. Leif Erickson landed on the smaller island of Newfoundland.
@@SuperBlackballedWhere? And why would they go to the northern point of Newfoundland for 20 years. I Googled and Leif Erickson landed in North America (Canada) but there is no proof of him landing anywhere but Newfoundland. I did check.
There were centuries of civil wars before any sort of old world involvement on the Americas... It wasn't some serene world where Pocahontas is feeding deer and there's rainbows over waterfalls.
The Vikings raided many a village and slaughtered many villagers over the past two thousand years.. except that time they slaughtered innocent Christians, that was obviously the Christians fault and they had it coming damn it! 😂 .. so 2022 smh
Me in 4th grade doing my explorer report on Leif Erikson.. ya he landed in North America .. way before Columbus... class... teacher she's lying... teacher... now you know better than fibbing... me: I spent 2 weeks in the library.. I have proof all my sources.. ok sweetie sit down..... I was so mad.... 30+ years later ... all the proof nobody listen to. 😊 told ya😂 library.. all the knowledge .. right there locked up in words.... 😢

I will never understand how people moralize digging up their ancestors graves.
You Will be Dug Up one Day or Have Someone Dumped on Top Of You , Happens Quite Frequently All over the World !!!
The Vikings "discovered" America before Columbus, but History has refused to give the seafarers their just due.
Discovered...? No traveled to yes. There were millions of people in North America before the white man came with their diseases.
That's not true everyone knows that.

@@SuperBlackballedActually Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. I image on a very clear day Greenland can be seen from Newfoundland.

They arrived in North America before they set foot in Newfoundland.

@@SuperBlackballedNo. it belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark. Google it.
I've been to the Biltmore Mansion in North Carolina. I think Breakers beats that place.
And they called native American tribes SAVAGES.
So did everyone. They were savages.
They were.

@samibaby8913 As far as Scandinavians, it was actually Leif's father, Erik, who first set foot on the American continent.
