University structures has to be changed where the thought process is given futuristic meritorious changes in the development of bold heritage oriented national progressing action in the young minds.
Oh yes, finally we are discussing this issue, the elephant in the room. All 'hintellectuals' parroted and muted voices so long. The Grand Narratives and Poorva Paksha has been revived by Sh. Rajiv Malhotra.
Fact on ground should change to have a narrative worthy of speaking. Like next generation infrastructure for cities, education for economic/self-care/national well being, environment care, healthcare, sports infra, girl education/health/nutrition, less corruption...if people become rich/spiritual then it will change..I am very happy with Modi, Yogi and Kejriwal model on governance...BJP as a party has to change and become less corrupt..and AAP has to replace Congress and build a strong party...India has better times if above becomes true..
very good. Pls get such authors and talks more often. Sanjay Sanyalji's recommendation/observation of strength of popular narrative is very significant. PLs highlight such stories/authors.
No narratives can blossom in the adversity of multiple demography. Stretching things straight in silos won't help unless hammering the red-hot Iron in one go when the times comes. That time would come when that Trillion Dollar economy plan is achieved and distributed in everybody's sleeve. Until then brace brace brace.
The book seems to be full of poetry and wishful thinking. There is a thing called "Normative Power" which India is not. It's still mostly Europe. People will not just include Kali Das into their text books because he was as good or better than Shakespeare. People will read Kali Das when they see India on a world stage... solving world problems... generating knowledge and solutions... innovating technology... and becoming a storyteller of the world.
The audience can be different. In Africa, parts of Asia and other places India wields normative power. Yoga, Ayurveda, Meditation are also well known in the world. Things dont happen as if a switch is turned on, they happen gradually and India is part of it.
The focus of the book seems clearly on the narrative not on some wishful thinking. The narrative that is dominated by the west and internalised by even us due to colonization. It's reflecting the reality of narratives present and will help us in making our own narratives & counter narratives in the future.
Europe is the past and present, India is the present and future. China and India and the countries surrounding them will get richer and back to how they were till 1850.
Think about narrative of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Shrimad Bhagvat! Even after 1000s years we are reciting it! It was built for the Kings and promoted generation after generation by the Pandits, Gurus, Storytellers....that is the strength of a Uniform Narrative wrote, sung and digitise by the King...a modern day Indian government. Tought in the schools...played as a drama initiated by Govt... followed by the elites and down to the Common citizens! PLA does it, every nations in Europe does it.... ' private sector's role is secondory...at least in the beginning..No different than election campaign that is going on for decades!!!
The narrator of India and snake charmers and cows in the street is old. Now Indians abroad are perceived as very initelligent, corporate leadership like google and CEOS, Gujarati's owning Hotels and Motels

it was my wish, to watch Mr. sood and late mr Hameed Gul on the same panel.
My eye started hurting right at the beginning with Samir not sitting still. Kept reminding me of Michael J Fox.
Ramayana is not the greatest epic but also the narrative and ethos of India

I am a little puzzled. Is the online discussion also a part of the narrative building process ??

It would have been great if leaders of opposition would also have been invited. The 'India story' has to be built by taking everyone into account.
