Nothing beats my midnight snack I've done for years now almost nightly -- take 2 or 3 slices of any brand store-sliced deli cooked ham and wrap them around a kosher dill spear, so good. Filling, hits all the spots. I'll definitely have to try this now, though, just to see for myself.
I've never tried a picklewich but for a low carb snack (and semi low calories) I'll wrap a pickle in deli meat and cheese and just eat it like that. Spears are preferred when doing that so you can actually wraps them.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like onions. There never seems to be a shortage of them, and no one complains they are too expensive. 😊
I love onion flavor and cook with onion powder all the time, but I hate actual onions. Except those dehydrated onions McDonalds puts on their cheeseburgers! Those are super good!
My Pickle Story: As a kid, I LOVED pickles. In 3rd grade, my school had salad bar day once a week. I hated salad, so all I'd eat were pickles and beans. One day, I loaded my tray down with 12 pickles. The lunch lady said I was being wasteful and that I wouldn't eat that many pickles. I told her yes I would, so then it was a challenge. I ate them all, but I felt super sick. Then, I hated pickles until my 30s, when I finally stopped taking them off of things. I'm 40 and back to liking pickles in moderation. That looks like more pickle than I think I could handle in one sitting, so this isn't for me. Maybe I could do half. Anyhow, I'm happy for the pickle lovers. This seems like a dream for y'all.
I've tried the turkey one and I LOVE it! I'm not much of a bread eater to begin with. And as for being pricey, I think pickle that size would definitely cost more than a roll or 2 slices of bread. And for those on a diet, it's perfect!
The picklewich is priced to the original sandwiches, the one through 6 and the BLT. At my location the originals are 9.89 after tax. The franchise i work for can price any of the sandwiches as they please. But, like most places, people in the Midwestern US will have a cheaper price set because of the different standard of living.
I like thisi flavor combo and have made similar before, but I usually go the other way with it - a dill pickle spear on the inside with lunch meat and cheese wrapped around it. It's far less messy.
Hey Mr. James sorry I've been away. I was taking a much needed social media break. I've gotta say I'm digging the full beard brother! You definitely got a Santa vibe going! Much respect bud! I hope the kiddos are happy and doing GREAT!
Just made deviled egg cheese burgers, saw online. I love cheeseburgers. And I love deviled eggs. Put them together! Think a slider but instead of bread buns it's egg. Delicious, but I think they were better the next day cold after sitting in the refrigerator. Super messy but a great party trick. So if we're putting meat between deviled egg, should try with bacon or brisket or pastrami, etc .... Definitely will do again.
I use bread and butter pickles for my picklewich. I started eating picklewichs when I was in grade school in the 80s. I don't like bread but I love pickles so I stuffed my pickles with sandwich suffering with mustard and honey. I like chicken meat and cheese on mine. Also, you should try BBQing them with melted cheese in the middle. I put them on sticks with bell peppers on the ends. Just put the stick into the pickle from the top and bottom at an angle so it doesn't fall off. The bell pepper helps keep it from slipping off the ends.
They look good, but the only problem I’d have would be the fact that sometimes their pickles are very hard to bite through. They tend to be rubbery some times. That would make the toppings squeeze out the end when you take a bite, I guess their bread is the same way so….
You get less "pooping sandwich" if you take the tomatoes out and eat them on the side. I learned this years ago eating Whoppers what had tomatoes on them. I started taking them out and that helped stop the innards from squeezing (pooping) out with every bite.
I would like a battered and fried version. Gives somewhere for the pickel juices to soak into and/ or if they where to gut the pickel more and use those innards for making a pickel dip for my French fries. Plus more other ingredient filling. Would cost more but would be worth it.
James, I'm right there with you concerning onions. It's not just that I don't like them, I'm allergic! I don't get anaphylactic shock, but they make my mouth and throat itch, and really upset my stomach. It took me decades to convince my family that I'm not being picky.
Onion Haters Unite! 😂 yeah, I love pickle sandwiches. I used to make them when I was doing low carb. I love taking dill spears, adding a little shmear of seasoned cream cheese (garlic powder, salt, pepper) and then wrapping it in a piece of salami especially but any lunch meat is pretty good. I'm going to have to give this one a try!
