    I installed one of these last month. I got the rivet nut tool at Harbor Freight for $50. Pro Tip: Cat Shield comes in a big cardboard box. Put that box under your car when you do the drilling. When you’re done drilling, slide the cardboard box out. That way, you won’t be crawling all over metal shavings when you’re putting in the rivets and tightening the bolts!

    • @LetsDriftMedia
      @LetsDriftMedia  3 роки тому +1

      Nice and yea the metal shavings were a problem, I used my leaf blower after to blow them out lol

    • @millercatcorp
      @millercatcorp 3 роки тому +2

      Just to be clear - you'll need a rivet NUT tool to install our Cat Shield as we use rivet nuts instead of rivets.

      I don't have a gen 4 prius to show you but It would be very similar and just as easy. Miller cat should have some instructions on their website for more info.

    A thief can still drill these out, right, albeit a little more time consuming?

    • @flagmichael
      @flagmichael Рік тому

      A LOT more time consuming because they are stainless steel. Five minutes per screw would be optimistic, and a single drill bit would not last through a single screw head. Risk in a theft is proportional to the amount of time spent doing the dirty deed.

  • @crazycasy
    @crazycasy 2 роки тому

    Maybe put a wood block behind the that hole with the fuel line before you drill... and whats going to stop a thief from buying a plate to get the special tool

    • @flagmichael
      @flagmichael Рік тому

      They can, but it is also practical to fill the heads with epoxy after installation. Removing that requires a torch, time, a pick, and patience. It is all about making theft difficult.
      Having a special tool like that in their possession if searched would constitute possession of burglar tools. A Sawzall would raise eyebrows but it would have more legitimate uses. Not so much a special security key.

    People: don't spend that kind of money, just have a shock sensor installed to your alarm, set it to high and Everytime it senses movement, vibration will trigger the alarm; thieves don't work with noise nor lighting, especially noise.

      Technically, they have a "precat" in the exhaust manifold. If that is counted there are two, but only one is accessible under the car.

    Toyota really lost a great tech when they lost u! VERY CLEAN PRIUS!! I'm a senior, own a 2019 gen 4 Prius, & I installed a Miller in 2020 myself. MUCH better made/dont use rivets but rivet nuts so TECHS can remove if necessary. GREAT advice on coolant lines. I figured, no ones stealn gen 4 cats but when I saw those lines, all I could think is $$$$$. So are u a tech at BMW or Mercedes now? U NEED to own ur OWN place!! 👍

      I very much doubt they will spend 30 minutes. The average is three minutes and every minute increases the risk of discovery. There are cars out there with no shield; why take a half hour risk?
