I had a 40 Enya and still have a 80 size Enya four stroke and it sounds awesome running with the straight pipe!

Nice job on that engine Mark

Great engine! Older baffled Enyas were not ABC. They had a hand lapped cast iron piston in a steel (Sleeve) liner. Even in modern times, Enya made few ABC engines, most were AAC and the top models AL-Chro (Chrome plated aluminum sleeve with alloy piston)

Francois Rivard Hahaha, thanks for pointing that out, I have amended the title, just rushing and hadn't got my brain into gear when posting, thanks again! 😀

Sounds like you have a smooth, low idle to me, very nice!

I loved my old Enya ss's, in fact, any Enya. Fantastic quality motors.

A P/S to the comment below. Forget to mention this Enya is also made with access to crankcase through the front as was the Thunder Tiger in the #26 video

Some thing not right here with you only getting 8800 rpm with 10x6 prop and 7% nitro! I've got lots, well in to double figures, of Enya 35's. Plain bearing 35 with high comp head on 5% nitro 20% castor fuel with an APC 10X6 prop I get 10,200rpm to 10,300 rpm. You have a low comp head but your shaft is ball raced plus a little more nitro. A common assembly fault is incorrect positioning of the baffle and/or liner. Baffle should be furthest away from exhaust port and then make sure liner is not 180 deg rotated. Just a suggestion as I know they will run, but not well although they will tick over OK, when incorrectly assembled.

Hi Mark, not sure if you will get to see this due to the vid being old. I am thinking of buying a Enya 35v marine ,new and boxed. Just wondered if parts are still availble.

Hi Gary, Enya are difficult for spares, there are some available, but can take a while to find, but if its a new engine hopefully it will give you trouble free running for years, I say go for it 😀

Mark ------ You mentioned --- A GOOD TIP HERE -- on purchasing a used engine , a tear down should be a must. As in this video you said it had a lot of GUNK in crankcase. Said bearings felt good --- did you spray a cleaner or something in there to flush out if there was something in there? Not knowing much on RC Airplane Engines in watching your videos up to this point most of them had a top end of 11,000 to 13,000 rpm. With this one coming in only around 8,800 rpm. does it have to go into say a smaller plane?

Think I did flush the bearings out it was a while back so not totally sure. The RPM is a factor of fuel type, increased nitro content increases the RPM, and mainly the prop size. A smaller pitched prop would have increased the RPM.

If running rich screwing it out will lean the mixture, if running lean screwing it in will richen

@@MarkRobinson555 ah I see ok... so it's an air screw not a fuel screw...

@@MarkRobinson555 I should of realised that because of the small air hole in the front of a carburettor

Hi, I have exactly the same engine (at least in term of form factor). I have some issue with it and I wish I can find an answer here. first question is regarding the high speed valve. from some documents (hope I found the right one) it was mentioned to make 2~3 full turn as start point. but what I found after tuning is that on high speed it is not even one full turn!!!!!! 2- another question is regarding the Idle speed which for me is about 4 to 5K. less than it the engine turns off. some times from full throttle to idle the engine gets off. 3- even after may time and well tuning, when I installed it on my airplane, on vertical mode full throttle to idle it get off right away. is there anybody have some ideas regarding these issue. the engine starts perfectly and it sounds powerful but at this time not reliable for me.
prop 10*6 , 5% omega fuel any help highly appreciated thanks

Hi there. 1) Yes that sounds right. 2) low speed needle is possibly too lean - richen and keep trying. 3) Sounds like it is too lean. Good luck, stick with it, you will get there in the end.

At least 2000 rpm below max. This engine is worn out. Look how it should be. Enya 35-V BB.AVI - UA-cam

What glow plug do you recommend for this engine. I just purchased one of these. Also what was your initial carb setting to get it running
