Loved this video, absolutely breathtaking views. I'm actually needing to make the final decision on whether I'll be moving up to Alaska this spring/summer in the next couple of weeks. Not looking to get away from anything just have always wanted to experience life there and every year for the past 3 years I've put it off "till next year." It's going to be a really tough thing to leave my job, family, and friends but at the same time I want to seize the moment and live my dream. Realizing no time will ever feel like the perfect time so just need to go for it! Excited and apprehensive at the same time, these views have me ready to head up there tonight lol!

if you have optimal mental health and can endure 7-8 months out of the year of hardly any sunlight than I say go for it! I unfortunately was not so lucky and after 8 years in alaska with my parents I had to move to Texas to get my depression under control. If not for that I would have loved to stay because it's a beautiful experience living there!

I’m originally from southern Idaho, I grew up listening to the stories from my grandpa who served in the army in the interior many years ago... he always had a dream of moving up here and building a cabin. As long as I can remember I have wanted to come to Alaska... in 2006 I loaded up my van and kids and hit the road, we lived in Anchorage our first year and then moved to a tiny little town and lived off grid for 8 years, we’ve learned soooooo much since moving to Alaska, but the main thing I’ve learned? Never, Never give up on your dreams! I’ve had some set backs medical wise ( and had to move closer to town and Drs) but we are still here and loving our Alaskan lifestyle! My dream is to one day get that cabin built and put my grandpas ashes in our foundation.... much 💚 and yes Eklutna lake is a beautiful area!

You are so right--Once visited, Alaska truly does not leave you~most vacations I've had I've long forgotten the details, but Alaska is a different story. I left vowing to return to live there someday but unfortunately didn't act upon it. Health issues has put an end to that dream, but not a day goes by that i don't think about its beauty and peacefulness. It truly is one of God's great creations. Nothing that beautiful could be otherwise. You have a really nice channel, and we always look forward to your next video

I visited Alaska in 2014 (ran the Mayor's Marathon in Anchorage then spent another 5 days). It is the most beautiful place I've ever been. I haven't been able to go back, and it'll be probably at least another 2 years before time and finances allow, but I will be back for a visit. For now I can't imagine living that far from family, but retiring in Alaska sound like a good idea. (I'm 35 so that is a ways off.) I know the traditional beachy retirement has no appeal at all.
