Epic elderberry pickin music , very relaxing . Great info , thank you . Elderberry here in Oregon is a huge attractant for doves right around opening for dove season , it’s branches also make dandy slip bark whistles for the youngsters .
Ive never had a slip bark whistle.
Great video! Thank you for this information! It helps to actually see someone doing it. For me it does anyway. 🙂
Your welcome. The identification part greatly helps to see someone doing it for me
They are just starting to come in around here. Thanks for all the info on them.
Your welcome
Hey Folks, I learned a tip this spring, to preserve your berries for harvest- before you can be outdone by the birds. When the bunches form, and after the blossoms fall, tie a piece of tule or similar fabric, like a bag around the whole clumped berries will ripen in there and be saved from the birds.
Good idea
The birds got all the elderberries around here, which is fine as I still have three gallons in the freezer and two dozen jars put up with added ginger for medicine, tiny little jars! I had put ginger and honey in my syrup!
The honey is better to use than the sugar i use by far but i never buy a lot of honey here because is expensive most of the time
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors Try using maple syrup. My man now makes the syrup.
@@loripiontek i will try that
New here, great video, gave it a 👍, but happy I stayed to the very end, your tag line: Best way to do something is the way You like to do it. (Proper safety precautions taken, of course) that got a sub. :)
Cheers, all the best to You, from Canada

Yes sir it is.
I just checked mine this morning and they are still green here in north Georgia
Wont be long im sure
Thanks for this video! I've been harvesting them for a few days now & wanted to try something medicinal with them. Long as I can get to 'em before the birds do!🤣 & mine grow right in line with Pokeweed & blackberries too. You taught me something new by freezing first then removing-thanks! Gonna save me time & purple fingers. Many blessings & yall have a great day.
Im not sure who helped me with that knowledge but it is a game changer with elderberries
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors That's definitely a game changer for me too!
This is a great video! I got a cutting from a friend and now it is about 3 foot tall. When will I have berries on it? Thanks for all the info!
Very possibly next year. I transplanted several into a medicinal garden im starting and they are around 4 foot but no berries on them yet.
Located in simpson county ms, would love to learn hands on, if you can!
I was always told that poke berries was poison.
Yes they are . About as poisonous as a bottle of pills. A few helps to many and your dead
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors ...Yep...all those pills are prescribed poison!!
