I think this era of IWABO would have done so much better if it came out around 2018-2019 as opposed to 2011. They used to get so much hate but it seems as if tracks like this have only recently been getting recognition
I remember Karate Nipples being on one of those sampler CDs. I absolutely loved it. This was like 7 or 8 years ago. I think they were on the same label as The Bunny The Bear and I was obsessed with them at the time. Man, I miss this music. I don't even listen to rock/hardcore anymore, but this stuff was my shit back in the day.
I think they could have done well had they come out in the boom of the MySpace band era, like 2004-ish. Their style fits well with that while also being unique, which would have made them stand out. You’re right though, 2011 wasn’t the right time.

Nah, I member seeing em at Java Jazz (RIP) in Houston back with the original lineup. The band was solid and tight as a live unit. Steven's a unique and skilled guitarist, and Krysta more than delivered. The only time I felt "convinced" by female gutterals and highs. She was definitely getting some shit out, and you couldn't help but feel it. I hope she is doing well and is happy in Life. She deserves it.

When this came out I was listening to nothing but deathcore and slam (whatever I considered the “heaviest” at the time) but after I thankfully realized there’s a lot more to metal than just being heavy, I came back to check them out (thanks to infatuation with Spiritbox) and can’t really understand why I didn’t like them at the time. Maybe it was production, maybe it was how erratic they are, I’m not sure, but it doesn’t matter. I’ve finally come to appreciate their musicianship lol Also I know this isn’t Courtney, but Spiritbox is the reason I came back to the band, just thought I should mention that before someone corrects me lol

Now that I started to listen genres like Math Rock, Post Metal, Mathcore, Grindcore and started opening my mind to new sounds, this is awesome. She has a great voice when singing, and also she can scream without ruining it. The intrumental part is crazy; they change a lot the time signatures, ok, not that much like Post Rock o Progressive Metal, but still. And they mix a lot of genres together. Why? Because they want to! At least they're creative with what they do, never heard something like this before.

I'd take this over the hundreds of cookie cutter metalcore bands that have come out in the last decade. At least they actually have a personality (even if a lot of people don't seem to like it)
This individual song is a triumph. I don't really care for this genre and I've listened to a lot of it on the back of discovering this song. Sadly I didn't find anything nearly as progressive. Mostly it's pop metal for middle class white american young teenagers but this song has a tension to it and power, especially the lyrics, that belies the youth of the authors. Fucking bravo.

I'd take this over the hundreds of cookie cutter metalcore bands that have come out in the last decade. At least they actually have a personality (even if a lot of people don't seem to like it)

This individual song is a triumph. I don't really care for this genre and I've listened to a lot of it on the back of discovering this song. Sadly I didn't find anything nearly as progressive. Mostly it's pop metal for middle class white american young teenagers but this song has a tension to it and power, especially the lyrics, that belies the youth of the authors. Fucking bravo.
