Glad you took us along, you got some fantastic finds and showed us some beautiful needle work. I too find shows in my area are lacking the sale of threads, any type. I prefer to buy in person so I can see the colors or feel them.

Thank you for your reply. Only been following you for couple months but have gone back & watched some of your older videos . Amazing how we can connect across the world now. Have had a couple of visits to England & Scotland & absolutely loved it. So love your wandering around your garden etc. as we live in a tropical city, but my favorite is English country type gardens. I’m planning to make your no churn ice cream for Christmas. I can buy my supplies here in Mackay which is a fairly large town or online.Major craft shows etc only seem to happen in Capital cities which is 1000 klm or 700 miles away so have only been down to one years ago. I have only retired 2 years ago so have just got back into my sewing lately & am loving the freedom of slow stitching.
@@denisemacdonald1329 I absolutely agree! I never had any desire to be on social media. Never joined Facebook etc... my first little 2 mins video was so someone else could see it. I didn't realise other people would be able to see it too. So my channel sort of happened by accident. It's been a marvel... It amazes me that I write to people all over the world now! I'll be making the ice cream too. Adding some soaked dried Christmas pudding style fruit etc...yum!

It was beautiful to see and I don't mind the noise. That is always on a show. I could have bought so much more Marjan.... I had to stop myself as really I have so much already. I try not to acquire more if I can't deal with it. But all the colourful fabric and yarns... they were amazing. I still can't quite believe I didn't bring yarn home with me. The blue/grey linen is so beautiful I couldn't resist :)

I did get to see your jean purse after all! I love the bottom tassel you put on it. It looks like the skirts we used to make with the added fabric on the bottom. Loved it. I am happy I reminded you about the handbag. The pockets are a great idea too, and a zip closure is awesome. I am still thinking about making one just the size of a back pocket of a pair of jeans. Just enough for my phone and ID, and maybe my keys to hang on the belt loop. I might slow stitch on it too, great way to use scraps. The show looks fab. So glad you found some lovely fabrics to play with. The embroidered linen will be fab for a skirt. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.
Yes Michelle..... you reminded me about it! The jeans made really strong great bags. You just need to do a box bottom to shape it. A lining makes it really lovely to use too.
Marion is love your videos. I love all of your treasures you found. I also have 20 WIP’s projects going on at once. My OCD organization is similar to yours. I love keeping all my projects in separate containers. Your picnic case is perfect. Our minds work in similar manners. As you collect all the treasured fabric for your coat it’s all together. I have made wood trays decorated with rulers all around the sides. Very crafty design look. Everything I need for each project; threads, buttons, etc. is all contained. Then when I’m ready to leave the house or move from room to room I just pick up a new project tray. It also slips perfectly into my project bags I made to take to the car! I always have several projects in the car while my husband drives & also if I stop for a break I always have one of my forever ending WIPs right with me with everything I need for that project. You do sound the same as me! I always had a project bag for the car too. Mainly it would be some knitting or crochet... It's amazing how much can get done even on those short journeys we all do.

Oh this was a treat Marion. I don’t get to any of the Shows these days and haven’t visited the Harrogate one. Fabulous venue. I would spend a fortune there because I saw so many lovely things in your video. I may go to the Sewing for Pleasure, shall have to see. Some of those embroideries were beautiful weren’t they. Thanks for filming some of the Show. I went to the K&S in London years ago specifically to see Jean Littlejohn and Jan Beaney's exhibition. I was so pleased to see the one stitch piece of Jean's. I still have to finish a quilt of fabrics I bought from Japan Crafts years ago! You didn't buy any wool and I went to the FOQ and didn't buy any fabric other than pieces of hand-dyed linen, threads and a few charts. I had luggage to carry so kept it light just enjoyed myself and got very tired!
@@marionsworld24 I'd be happy if I could do what you do Marion. I gave up trying to make clothes years ago when my daughter got to double figures and quickly outgrew what took me hours to make. I found the cost of a simple cotton dress with zip, trims etc and pattern - I tried to make a few to justify the cost of a pattern - well I could buy cheaper at C&A/Littlewoods/BHS for example and what I made for myself didn't fit well so I stuck to knitting, lacemaking, simple embroidery and cross stitch until I began quilting and joined The Embroiderers' Guild in 2001. Since then I stitch and knit and wish the cataracts and arthritis weren't gaining strength!🙃. Who enjoys ageing?!! I only make a variety of gifts for those who appreciate the time and love I put into them these days.
Jean this really resonates with me. I agree it started to be cheaper to but new. But at that time, whilst my children were young I couldn't even do that. I used to go to jumble sales. Not cool in those days like it is now. I was always taking things apart and remaking so my daughter had lovely dresses that had cost me time...but only pennies in money. Although I am able to treat myself now to new fabric I tend to buy good stuff and still go to charity shops for clothes to pull apart for normal clothes. I just got into the habit.....😊 Also I'm sure you've heard the phrase "quilt worthy", well substitute that for knit worthy, craft worthy or anything else you spend your precious time making!
@@marionsworld24 Nothing wrong with that. Having a sister 10 years older meant mum had usually to start from scratch - mum being 46 when I was born and my dad 56! - so only as I grew older did I have clothes remade out of my sister's cast offs.
Yes I am ! ☺️ I knitted it when she first released the pattern. I changed one or two things... omitted the pockets, shortened the sleeves, and did Latvian braid around the neckline. I love it. Also about the start her Yell cardigan. Expect to see a video soon ☺️

Hi Marion. Just found your video by chance! Wasn't the show fantastic?! I went on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of things there. I spent a lot of time viewing the textile exhibitions and talking with the artists and creators. I especially loved the Hand and Lock prize for embroidery exhibit - such stunning works. I chatted to Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn about their landscape textiles and added a few stitches to Vanessa Marr's duster art project. As for the shopping...oh my!!! I got a beadwork kit, a Dorset button kit, some back issues of "Embroidery" magazine and some aida fabric for cross stitch. Thank you for such a lovely, authentic video. So nice to re- live the sights and sounds of the show. ❤

You seemed to have timed it right and not got crushed in the crowds as we did I saw the kimono, wasn't it gorgeous, and I thought the goldwork on the RSN stand was just amazing. I had gone hoping to buy loads of hand dyed silk threads and ribbons, but was disappointed too at the choice. My best bargain was from the Cone Exchange, I got a huge fabric sample book of lovely sofa fabrics for £4, would have bought more but it was so heavy to carry back to the car 🤣 Love the fabrics you bought, can't wait to see their transformation.
Yes, some of the stallholders were telling us how packed it had been on Thursday. They said it was overwhelming at times from their point of view. I too had been hoping to buy ribbons and mayve silks too, and those different types of textural threads. The people who weren't there were Stef Francis and Oliver Twists. They are both online if that's any help. I've already ordered something. It's just I like to buy in person where possible and had waited for the show.
Yeah I've bought some things from Stef Francis online thanks, but it's not the same as being able to pick it up and touch it is it and see the colours for yourself? But that's the way of the world now. @@marionsworld24

Thanks so much... I wasn't sure I was doing it all correctly but it turned out fine in the end... It's so easy to get carried away with the atmosphere of shows like that. Actually I could have got so much more, but I was really trying not to spend too much. Also I have so many projects already I don't need any more in the pipeline!

I use whatever I have that I think will get me the effect I want to get. Until I got the threads at the show I actually didn't have any proper sashiko thread. That's why I was using coton a broder to stitch the kawandi in the earlier video.

Thank you for your reply. Only been following you for couple months but have gone back & watched some of your older videos . Amazing how we can connect across the world now. Have had a couple of visits to England & Scotland & absolutely loved it. So love your wandering around your garden etc. as we live in a tropical city, but my favorite is English country type gardens. I’m planning to make your no churn ice cream for Christmas. I can buy my supplies here in Mackay which is a fairly large town or online.Major craft shows etc only seem to happen in Capital cities which is 1000 klm or 700 miles away so have only been down to one years ago. I have only retired 2 years ago so have just got back into my sewing lately & am loving the freedom of slow stitching.
@@denisemacdonald1329 I absolutely agree! I never had any desire to be on social media. Never joined Facebook etc... my first little 2 mins video was so someone else could see it. I didn't realise other people would be able to see it too. So my channel sort of happened by accident. It's been a marvel... It amazes me that I write to people all over the world now!
I'll be making the ice cream too. Adding some soaked dried Christmas pudding style fruit etc...yum!
I'am so glad that I live not in England, very close to the show. 😆I would buy to much fabric and beads and patterns and I have already so much. I must live for another 300 years. It was beautiful to see and I don't mind the noise. That is always on a show. You have really bought some amazing fabrics, that gray/blue embrodery.....I love that.🥰 Thank you for sharing Marion, I enjoy watching it.
I could have bought so much more Marjan.... I had to stop myself as really I have so much already. I try not to acquire more if I can't deal with it. But all the colourful fabric and yarns... they were amazing. I still can't quite believe I didn't bring yarn home with me. The blue/grey linen is so beautiful I couldn't resist :)

I did get to see your jean purse after all! I love the bottom tassel you put on it. It looks like the skirts we used to make with the added fabric on the bottom. Loved it. I am happy I reminded you about the handbag. The pockets are a great idea too, and a zip closure is awesome. I am still thinking about making one just the size of a back pocket of a pair of jeans. Just enough for my phone and ID, and maybe my keys to hang on the belt loop. I might slow stitch on it too, great way to use scraps. The show looks fab. So glad you found some lovely fabrics to play with. The embroidered linen will be fab for a skirt. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.
Yes Michelle..... you reminded me about it! The jeans made really strong great bags. You just need to do a box bottom to shape it. A lining makes it really lovely to use too.
Marion is love your videos. I love all of your treasures you found. I also have 20 WIP’s projects going on at once. My OCD organization is similar to yours. I love keeping all my projects in separate containers. Your picnic case is perfect. Our minds work in similar manners. As you collect all the treasured fabric for your coat it’s all together. I have made wood trays decorated with rulers all around the sides. Very crafty design look. Everything I need for each project; threads, buttons, etc. is all contained. Then when I’m ready to leave the house or move from room to room I just pick up a new project tray. It also slips perfectly into my project bags I made to take to the car! I always have several projects in the car while my husband drives & also if I stop for a break I always have one of my forever ending WIPs right with me with everything I need for that project. Also an old decorated eyeglass case which I place magnets inside to store my needles & favorite scissors. Happy stitching.

Oh this was a treat Marion. I don’t get to any of the Shows these days and haven’t visited the Harrogate one. Fabulous venue. I would spend a fortune there because I saw so many lovely things in your video. I may go to the Sewing for Pleasure, shall have to see. Some of those embroideries were beautiful weren’t they. Such patient stitchers. I think your Boro coat is going to be a work of art. I must say the sampler kit you purchased took my eye too. Love all the threads you chose as well. Tfs 😊

Thanks for filming some of the Show. I went to the K&S in London years ago specifically to see Jean Littlejohn and Jan Beaney's exhibition. I was so pleased to see the one stitch piece of Jean's. I still have to finish a quilt of fabrics I bought from Japan Crafts years ago! You didn't buy any wool and I went to the FOQ and didn't buy any fabric other than pieces of hand-dyed linen, threads and a few charts. I had luggage to carry so kept it light just enjoyed myself and got very tired!
I've never been to the festival of quilts. It always sounds wonderful though. I normally do more clothes sewing and embroidery these days.
@@marionsworld24 I'd be happy if I could do what you do Marion. I gave up trying to make clothes years ago when my daughter got to double figures and quickly outgrew what took me hours to make. I found the cost of a simple cotton dress with zip, trims etc and pattern - I tried to make a few to justify the cost of a pattern - well I could buy cheaper at C&A/Littlewoods/BHS for example and what I made for myself didn't fit well so I stuck to knitting, lacemaking, simple embroidery and cross stitch until I began quilting and joined The Embroiderers' Guild in 2001. Since then I stitch and knit and wish the cataracts and arthritis weren't gaining strength!🙃. Who enjoys ageing?!! I only make a variety of gifts for those who appreciate the time and love I put into them these days.
Jean this really resonates with me. I agree it started to be cheaper to but new. But at that time, whilst my children were young I couldn't even do that. I used to go to jumble sales. Not cool in those days like it is now. I was always taking things apart and remaking so my daughter had lovely dresses that had cost me time...but only pennies in money. Although I am able to treat myself now to new fabric I tend to buy good stuff and still go to charity shops for clothes to pull apart for normal clothes. I just got into the habit.....😊
Also I'm sure you've heard the phrase "quilt worthy", well substitute that for knit worthy, craft worthy or anything else you spend your precious time making!
@@marionsworld24 Nothing wrong with that. Having a sister 10 years older meant mum had usually to start from scratch - mum being 46 when I was born and my dad 56! - so only as I grew older did I have clothes remade out of my sister's cast offs.

Yes I am ! ☺️ I knitted it when she first released the pattern. I changed one or two things... omitted the pockets, shortened the sleeves, and did Latvian braid around the neckline. I love it. Also about the start her Yell cardigan. Expect to see a video soon ☺️

Hi Marion. Just found your video by chance! Wasn't the show fantastic?! I went on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of things there. I spent a lot of time viewing the textile exhibitions and talking with the artists and creators. I especially loved the Hand and Lock prize for embroidery exhibit - such stunning works. I chatted to Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn about their landscape textiles and added a few stitches to Vanessa Marr's duster art project. As for the shopping...oh my!!! I got a beadwork kit, a Dorset button kit, some back issues of "Embroidery" magazine and some aida fabric for cross stitch. Thank you for such a lovely, authentic video. So nice to re- live the sights and sounds of the show. ❤

Glad you enjoyed the show Marion. You seemed to have timed it right and not got crushed in the crowds as we did I saw the kimono, wasn't it gorgeous, and I thought the goldwork on the RSN stand was just amazing. I had gone hoping to buy loads of hand dyed silk threads and ribbons, but was disappointed too at the choice. My best bargain was from the Cone Exchange, I got a huge fabric sample book of lovely sofa fabrics for £4, would have bought more but it was so heavy to carry back to the car 🤣 Love the fabrics you bought, can't wait to see their transformation.
Yes, some of the stallholders were telling us how packed it had been on Thursday. They said it was overwhelming at times from their point of view. I too had been hoping to buy ribbons and mayve silks too, and those different types of textural threads. The people who weren't there were Stef Francis and Oliver Twists. They are both online if that's any help. I've already ordered something. It's just I like to buy in person where possible and had waited for the show.
Yeah I've bought some things from Stef Francis online thanks, but it's not the same as being able to pick it up and touch it is it and see the colours for yourself? But that's the way of the world now.

@@marionsworld24 I know people that went to a London one recently and were really disappointed mainly because the lack of stitch and in the main was yarn based so when I saw the Harrogate one at least with the fab fabrics it looked good. I just love these type of shows though lol.

I use whatever I have that I think will get me the effect I want to get. Until I got the threads at the show I actually didn't have any proper sashiko thread. That's why I was using coton a broder to stitch the kawandi in the earlier video.
