Sometimes I am almost lost for words at your creativity Marion! Does anyone else see you’ve uploaded a video and try not to watch it, because you want to ‘save’ it as there’s so much to savour, fortunately we can watch them over and over! Yes have a good time at the show and we will look forward to you posting about it. I sign off once again full of wanting to make ‘all the things’. Thank you for all your effort and inspiration 😊🧵🪡🙋♀️
What a lovely message to receive Jeanette. Thank you so much. It's a bit overwhelming sometimes to realise just how much you all are enjoying my little videos. I really appreciate it very much 💐🪡🧵
Lovely aprons, great tip about the binding making it a bit wider on the back so it catches the stitches. Sewing a coat by hand, wow, it’s looking lovely with the French seams. Looking forward to the video you’ll be making of the handcraft show, but don’t forget to relax and enjoy the show through your eyes too, and not only through the lens of your camera. 5pm e care, cheers from the Netherlands 👋🏼👋🏼
Thanks a lot. I did enjoy the stitching show. In fact, on the afternoon I kept forgetting to film anything.... The video will be live this evening. I hope you enjoy it..
Fantastic tutorial, brought back memories of my father asking me to make him some aprons to protect his shirts at work, and he just loved them. He wore them every day, and when they were worn out, would ask for another one. Thank you for this apron project. I can still see my fathers cheerful smile as he paraded around the living room in his new work apron. So grateful you brought this memory forward for me.
Hi Marion how exciting for you! Would love to see the film for the show! Also your coat looks amazing so far cannot wait to see it made and stitched soon. Tomorrow I am off to my stitching Guild group for a few hours so looking forward to that as well. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend.
Ooh.. what stitching guild are you a member of? I always fancied joining the embroiderers guild, but years ago it just wouldn't have been able to ..and now..well I'm not sure I would do it now.
Hi Marion Just my local one when I moved up the Coast three years ago, out of the city. I did it because I needed to meet likeminded people like myself however I do prefer the creativeness of your world much more. @@marionsworld24 I really like all your ideas and clever ways to create lots of things.
Thank you again for a interesting video. I will try to do something with my old jeans. I really need a new apron! I am looking foreword to next episode from you! 😊 ❤ 🧶🧵🪡
That's great Ingela. You'll have some good denim left over for other projects too.... The legs would make a good outer layer for a Japanese rice bag. Put a bonny lining in and there's another Christmas present!
I think I will go to the thrift and look for a pair with cute pockets! I think you could make a little bag too like the one you made before, but use the pocket off a pair of jeans. I think they call them cross body bags. Too cute. Thanks for the inspiration again on another great project to make. We all love them, keep them coming.
Thanks Michelle... You've reminded me that I could have shown my denim handbag....😏 I forgot all about it... I'll try and remember to show it at the end of the next video 😊
Hi Marion, I love this for making the wonderful aprons. I also love the name you use, "pennies". I would love to adopt some of the words you use from your part of the world, but no one over here would know what in the world I was talking about! haha I think I'll start a trend, after all my ancestors ARE from Scotland after all. Some day I hope to see that beautiful country! Best to you, Suzie
It's pinnies Suzie... Short for pinafore aprons. Here in the North East and in Scotland that's our word for them. Of course then we also have pinafore dresses too 😅
I will be having a go at making an apron as I have a huge pile of denim jeans collected over the years to use in another crafting project that never happened. Also I would love to see a tutorial regarding hand sewing clothes. I had a very forbidding needlework teacher at high school in the 1970's who put me off dressmaking for decades! It is only as I have got older that I have felt able to make very simple tunic tops for myself as I feel the sewing machine starts to take over, if that makes sense. By the way my great grandmother used to hand sew shirts for her older brothers and could do one in an evening! Hope you had a great time at Harrogate.
Isn't it awful how some teachers can really put you off a subject? Hopefully there are more that enthuse their students with wonder and joy. Yes a hand sewing video coming soon 🧵🪡😊
Thanks again for another compelling video. Im in Northern Ireland and never been to Harrogate, so can't wait to see what you manage to film. Enjoy your day out! Christine
What a great idea, I love working with denim. I make journal covers out of them. I’m excited for you to go to the show and can’t wait to see your video. TFS ❤
Hope that you all have a fabulous time at the Show in Harrogate. Thank you again for your inspirational stitching. I’m trying out something new for me in crochet, snowflakes.. a bit fiddly but enjoyable. I’m going to use PVA and water to stiffen them to turn them into tree ornaments to gift for Christmas.
Fabulous Marion! I’m going to make one for a friend that I had no idea what to gift her for Christmas. This will be perfect! Have a wonderful and fun time at the show! 😘🥰🤗💜
This is an awesome idea!!! I agree that it would make a neat gift 🎁 I'll add this to my ever growing list of sewing ideas 😊😊 Blessings to you dear Marion ❤ thank you for always sharing your creativity with us!!!
Who would have thought you could get a pinnie/apron out of a pair of jeans, what a great idea and so easy to make. I am never going to look at a pair of jeans in the same way again Marion 😁thank you for sharing
Fab idea, an apron for the garden, love it. When I am searching for second jeans in my local charity shops I always look for the BIGGEST ones on the rails. In fact I look out for the biggest sizes in pretty much anything because you get so much more yardage for your money. Even a pretty blouse in an extra large size will give you lots of binding, frills , matching pockets etc. If you are lucky enough to find any garment in, for eg Linen, Wool, Silk…… always think ‘outside the box’……. think about making your own lovely little embroidery books with your re-cycled fabric. Marion teaches so nicely, gives inspiration to …… DIY❤️.
Fabulous!! My son actually likes to cook! And I have a gray (his favorite) pair of brand new jeans that I ordered on sale and they came too large so now I know what to do with them!! Yay! Thank you! 💕Donna
I love this sewing project as my sewing skills (clothes-making) are limited. I think a homemade present is better than a bought present in many cases. I like all your sewing projects.
I agree Wendy. I quite often make foodie presents too nearer the time. Little selections of cheese, cheesy biscuits and fruit cake maybe with a jar of chutney.... You can't go wrong really 😊
So creative - as always! I go through a few aprons a year because I use them in the shop when I am silversmithing. The sanding, soldering bits are always so hard on the apron fabrics and they need to be replaced quite often. Making them out of denim is fantastic because they may last me a little longer. I will sure try and let you know how it holds throughout the year. Have fun at the show!
What a lovely way to make an apron. I must say, I never wear trousers. Even in the '70 when everybody at school wears jeans, I was the only one wearing dresses or skirts. And because I don''t like blue, I don't have something denim in my house. I have see people makes bags out of jeans, but not aprons. I hope you have a great day at the show. What a good thing you asked if you could film for your you tube channel. Love to see it. Have fun.
Thanks Marjan. I too mainly wear dresses or skirts. I thrift the jeans especially for sewing with. They make good strong shopping bags and even handbags. I find the denim really useful. However... I do quite like blue 💙
Oh Marion! This was so much fun! I buy the biggest jeans I can get at the thrift store so I have lots of fabric to use. Great ideas! Thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks so much this is a great idea. I asked my grandson what he wanted for Christmas he said he wanted me to make him something. He with be getting a denim apron !
I find I get a lot out of making some things by hand. Of course I'm still not averse to running something up quickly on the machine... But taking time with a project is a different kind of slow stitching...🪡🧵
Brilliant idea, Marion! I’ve been thinking about getting an apron for when I do my spinning, but making one out of spare jeans isn’t something I’d thought of. I like it! I especially like the pockets on the front, too. Thanks for sharing!
What a clever project . Those aprons will stand up to all sorts of wear and tear . 😊 Hope you all enjoy the trip to Harrogate and find some exciting goodies. ❤
Another great idea Marian. You could make the pinny longer, if you wanted, by putting a piece of the other leg across the bottom. I hope that you all have a wonderful time at the show. And that you find lots of lovely goodies there.
Yes. You definitely could make it longer. Also there's a way of making a pinnie just from the legs as once opened up you have two lovely flat pieces to work with...
Great idea for aprons Marion ! Your top & coat are coming along nicely too ! The thread show you’re going to sounds very interesting!!! I’d love to go to something like that here in Tennessee ! Enjoy that for me ! Thanks again !!!
Maybe because you have plenty stores there's no need for the shows. Here the amount of fabric or wool shops has definitely declined. I do have a good fabric shop about half an hour away. There are a lot less yarn shops around than there used to be though. The show at Harrogate is every November and there's just so many sellers all brought together it's a great experience. They also have display galleries too..☺️

I love all kinds of birds and we have quite a few here in Florida (Ormond Beach). i have really got interested in cranes and sea turtles. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
You must have such different birds to me! Why don't you just choose your absolutely favourite one and start with that one. I'd like to know which you choose. I'll look it up as I'll probably not know it unless it's a common one...
Hi Marion fab aprons. Enjoy the K&S show on Friday, I'm going tomorrow but I promise not to buy everything so there's some left for you, shame I'm not going on the same day as you I'd have looked out for you to say hello. Happy stitching, Helen.
@marionsworld24 Hi, just about 😅, I bought some lovely threads, a few kits and other bits and pieces for my embroidery projects. There's plenty to choose from and lots of ideas to worm around in my head for future stitching. Hope you find everything you want. I look forward to seeing your video on your experience x
I just made it up as I went along. I had just two balls of variegated wool. I started knitting at one wrist. Carried on up my arm, split for the neck, knit across the chest, then rejoined and knit down the other arm. The second ball was the same yarn in a different colourway. So I decided the easiest thing to do was crochet downwards from the chest until I ran out of wool.... 😊🧶

You’re a delight Marian! I especially appreciate your care for using recycled clothing and making something both useful and beautiful. Thank yoyu
These are really quick to make and so useful...
Your tshirt with the hand stitching is beautiful...gorgeous colors ❤ Exquisite workmanship on your coat❤
That’s a really fabulous idea to use old jeans like that ☺️. I like the aprons 💕
I have a bag full of old jeans, now I know what to do with them. Lovely.
It's a good use of old jeans 👍
We need more people crafting whatever it is, just to get a sense of achievement and purpose in life. That includes cooking from scratch.
I totally agree! I'm most definitely a home cook and love making jams and preserves too...
There are so many things that can be done with worn jeans. This is another wonderful example.
Thank you for this tutorial. 💖💖💖
