Dragon Age The Veilguard is without a doubt Bioware's most controversial game to date and that is said without the game even having come out yet...which is very telling. Why is there so much division, antipathy and controversy though and does it bode well for the game? This and more in this video...
It’s completely insane that your inquisitor romancing Cassandra is deemed to have enough reactivity in choice in DATV but the fact that she could be the Divine and have control over the inquisition is irrelevant? Iron Bull could be dead if you made certain choices.
I fully expect that romancing anyone other than Solas in Inquisition will be completely inconsequential and only warrant one line if even that.
@@rb98769 they probably only included the romance option reference for that specific reason and additional context for his character. I literally can’t see how they plan on writing that in a way it would matter for anyone else.
Your inquisitor could romance Cassandra in inquisition but dav those choices dont matter Solas matters so little they put him in a pocket dimension-
This is why I'm hoping Exodus turns out great, and hopefully can take Bioware's mantle. It's a heck of a hope, but at this point Bioware's an empty husk.
I hope so, but we still have many rpg studios that are still working on their first projects like humanoid origins and rebel wolf studio I’m really excited to see what they have been working on.
One can hope and I do but it is possible it could flop...just needs the right formula to do so.
@spellandshield yeah, ain't that the sad truth. At least Asia's market is blooming
@@ArtOfDyingWellwe do have some newer and lesser known studios that have the old bioware energy so I don't think we need to worry much.
@@SPOOKYTIMEZ2077 Rebel Wolf Dawn Walker is right up there for me Lord Spooky! Whilst we have no gameplay footage a proper dark and mature fantasy vampire game sounds amazing!
I can sympathize with slandergaming. This man was truly excited for this game. Playing the entire series on his channel. And now even he is having second thoughts on the game.
But the wokies will just call him a tourist and never was even a fan
I watched his video about it.
Probably his reaction is the one that I can relate the most. He said exactly my thoughts.
Ya I feel the same as him but not that excited since my expectations is low for this game. They really screwed up and I do not know how they cannot admit it. Still going to play it since I want to atleast finish the journey I started back in Origins but I fully expect this to be maybe the last game Bioware may ever make.
He desreves no sympathy after calling people who don't like this game "bigots." I hope he hates it so that he can hate himself for hating it.
I'll never understand why people care so much. Alot of games out there to play. Quit crying.
Slanderedgaming video really struck home for me and I'm still in disbelief that Bioware is going this route. How can you call yourself a sequel to Inquisition, bring Morrigan and Inquisitor back and yet NOT have any impact whatsoever on the events unfolding in DA4. Divine? Well of Sorrows? Morrigan's child Kieran that's supposed to be grown up by now and hosts the soul of Old God Urthemiel? The real question is how do these writers still have a job, because these decisions on the continuity of Dragon Age is something EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to have.
Baldur's Gate 3 has references of the previous two games, companions and cameos from a game from TWO DECADES AGO that are still relevant to the "canon" story of D&D and yet Bioware, who were the first (one of the first?) do to imported saves that carry over your character / decisions into the next game (BG1 > BG2, NWN1 > Undrentide > Underdark) can't figure out how to do this? I'm well aware the old Bioware staff are no longer there, but at least try to copy what they did and what the name is known for, even if you fumble in the presentation.
To be fair Flemeth took the soul from her son in DAI but the point still stands.
The new generation of dev unable to learn anything good from their legendary predecessor actually have become a common occurrence lately
Its especially more common when the said predecessor left the team in not exactly friendly terms and get antagonised/look down by the ppl who currently still work there bcs of one reason or another
They simply refuse to take the page from their successful predecessor and insist on creating their own products by their own way that they hope gonna overshadow whatever the predecessor achieved previously.
Bcs ofc, taking inspiration from the work of the ppl that they look down simply don't sit well with their ego
Bioware, ubisoft, etc
Most of the biggest flop in the last decade happened bcs of this exact situation.
BG3 does a disservice to everything BG2 except Jaheria. So I wouldn't use them as an example of continuity done well.

BioWare doesn’t owe us a good game but, we don’t owe them our money. I’ll still mourn what Dragon Age Dreadwolf could have been.
Mourn Project Joplin! The first iteration of DA4. Maybe more heist based, but by some accounts it at least had some heart! Never mind being singleplayer entirely.
It would be the exact same thing. Dreadwolf, Veilguard it doesn't matter same people would've worked on both and these peopel are NOT the same Bioware that gave us games like DA:O or ME2
Dreadwolf sounded way better..was really looking forward too this..until they changed it too failguard and revealed too everyone that this is nothing more then a glorified twink snowflake simulator..
@@RedfieldChris-qx5gnSame, Dreadwolf had a dark sound to it but now the dark setting of DA is entirely gone.

I don’t believe it’s a culmination its a reboot. The reaction to the lack of decisions carrying over and the keep being thrown away is evident. BioWares explanation of their reasoning for this is just further proof. This is basically a soft reboot for a newer generation and fan service to the solavellans.

The fact that Veilguard suppose to be the last game, ending the story and answering many questions, makes discarding choices so much worse. There will be no other Dragon Age solving it and making our choices meaningful.
I've been watching this whole situation with The Veilguard, and I don't think this game was made for me. Which sucks, because I like the franchise. Not being able to control the team, the reduction to three party members, the ugly character design, and now the only 3 choices from Inquisition will be carried over to the new game (ignoring DAO and DA2 choices) killed the interest in playing The Veilguard.
Things reached a point where (to me) folks creating their own fanfics or even going back to the DAO Toolset - mod creation tool for Origins - and trying to make a fan-made sequel to Inquisition would be more interesting.
It feels like it's the Solavellans excited to see the closure of that story versus everyone else.
I'm a solavellan but I'm dreading this game tbh.
I’m just tired of building franchises and enjoying them for years, and then having the rug pulled out from underneath me; being insulted and gaslit when I complain, and then being told that it’s not for me.
What is left for me?
These types of toxic game devs don’t want to make anything for you, they want you to consume their shitty product and ask for seconds with a smile on your face. When you don’t do that you’re a bad person
..That's why I switch to Kiseki games from Nihon Falcom.
I feel you. And the worst are indeed the blind fanboys and girls who act like you are the problem while they eat this shit that is not what it used to be and call you a fake fan.
Mass Effect, hopefully.
It is obvious to me that the old talent this studio had is LONG GONE.
It just feels hollow.
Does anyone out there miss the days when game devs actually treated their fans with respect and didn’t blame them if their game didn’t do well? I do…
@@davidradach9311 back when games were made with a passion and a general nerdiness of the source material.
I'm scared shitless of what this Bioware might do to Mass Effect. I honestly wish EA shut them down.
Me too and I can’t believe it’s come to this
Sad state of affairs for sure. I’d hope EA has the intelligence to sell the IP’s to a studio that will do right by the fans, but that’s doubtful.
But then the sims team wont have access to it for the shippers thats why "hair" is their most they talk about the "hair" because it was distracting daring the "romances"
The game director said they were "wrapping things up" when it came to the story, and there's no plans for DLC or expansions. So yeah. Its definitely the last one. And realistically, if it doesn't sell 5 to 10 million copies within the first 4 or 5 months, Bioware will probably shut down. But they brought it on themselves.
I say this with a heavy heart, but I don't think you can expect a good ending to the series story wise. The good writers have moved on or been cut for budgetary reasons, and what's left is discouraging. Origins is one of my all time favorite games. Two was worse, but I still liked it. 3 didn't know what it wanted to be, and was worse than the first 2. It's just a downward slide. This new entry seems to have all it's priorities in the wrong places.
As games they were worse, but the writing and world building was better later, especially in 2
@@gromdal9293 You mean the game where they just built upon the world building already established in 1? I thought 2 was terrible, the only Dragon Age game i enjoyed was Origins and yes I played them all. So even if this game didnt look like a woke nightmare I would still not be eagerly anticipating it. I found out a long time ago that the series was not made for me.
They talk about 2 and 3 as though 1 didn't set the stage for all the aspects that made the world compelling. It's also gone from a strategy rpg to button spamming. I'm just sort of over it
@@adamaccountname what made the story good is that the world and history was written befofe any game. When they actualy started developing game they didn't know where in its settings game should be. Wardens weren't there, there were no Dragons, game wasn't called Dragon Age, Archdemon looked similar like tentacle God looks in Veilguard. They added dragons in, because they thought it will make the game more popular 😂
@@scarletina5137 I hated 2 because it was to radical change of settings and it was not direct sequel. But after replaying it years later, 2 has the most serious and compact story of them all for me. I cannot see a single redeemable quality here... I am no "tourist", havijg been a Bioware customer for 20 years.. DA Inquisition was when I lost all hope for Bioware.
The issue with ME3 wasn't just the ending. It was that Bioware promised that the culmination of your decisions over three games would have significance and ultimately that turned out not to be true. Long time fans of Mass Effect felt betrayed by Bioware when they realized that the developer only offered the illusion of choice.
Dragon Age has been following a similar path, but to a lesser degree, mostly because they have consistently changed the main protagonist with each new game.
Yes! Why have people forgotten so quickly? Bioware was overriding player choice since the DA2 and ME3 days.
I was disappointed that Cerberus went from being a nuanced portrayal of Alliance black operations going rogue and then trying to save at least part of the galaxy into "OMG, Cerberus are generic badguys controlled by the Reapers" without even an attempt at portraying how they reached that point.
You are correct in your assumption that Dragon Age divisions predate the culture war. The community, forums, and social media groups of Dragon Age were quite active, lively, friendly, communal, and passionate. The overwhelming amount of love for the franchise and Bioware have produced just as strongly scorned fans with each new game release over the years. These fans have always hoped and waited for something wonderful for the legacy of their wardens, Hawkes, and Inquisitors. Some are even dedicated seniors from the Baldurs Gate era. Even typing this, i still hope Bioware somehow recovers from this mess someday because some of the wonderful characters were life-changing for many of us. Anyway, the latest game looks bad, and the developers seem to consider us old or critical fans irrelevant.
Lol not even 40 years old but now we are seniors
After glancing through the DA reddit page I can't help but agree that the game feels like a puffed up dating sim. Like the romance is nice and adds to the story but I'm more interested in the lore and gameplay, not getting my jollies to a virtual woman.
For additional silliness, this "dating sim" wont even allow to make a woman with larger than a B cup or a nice butt. IDK who the target audience is but evidently it wasn't their core fan base.
All they ever talk about there isn't enough "romances" and how they had to make another character because their first were the "wrong" character and it was unfair some characters arent romancable thats and the "hair" is so distracting from "romances"-

Considering they are tossing out Origins and 2, this game is acting more as a fanfiction reboot so I don't think a satisfying conclusion is possible.

Yep, i've heard in past years of gamers being so 'entitled' for wanting a complete product at launch, but if anything, i've come to realize we have a lot of entitled af devs in the industry, who think just because their game is AAA and exists, is deserving of our money and praise.
Oh, and watch them shame us 'tourists' for not buying the game in a few months 😂
@@KratosisGod its so sad that he is the man who created the Dragon Age. What hope can the IP have when its founder is against the fans. Same as GRRM
I hope it's their last game, so, when society pulls it sh*t together, new companies, with competent people can grab these IPs and make a great game in the future.
If they want to ignore 99,999% of all previous choices (without even giving altered codex entries or dialogue) in past DA games, why even bring back the Inquisitor and those few choices at all? It angers even most devoted old fans, and new players wont even give a damn about those few choices anyway because they have no frame of reference why they matter. They had 10 years to make this game, and you want to tell me they couldn't not make Keep to download file with choices that can be imported in Veilguard?
When these gaming companies will learn than you can't take older, established franchise and reboot it for "modern audiences"? Veilguard is about to get Saints Row treatment.
It's offline though.
I would have preferred to have some ingame way to enter more choices (like the mass effect comic book thing). But with this story happening so much later, and so far away, I can see why alot of my world state elsewhere might not affect what happens in veilguard. Certainly the biggest stuff is already wrapped up. God baby no longer a god baby. Flemeth dead so the well is resolved. And if you left Hawke or Alistair in the Fade (shame on you 😅) then of course they escaped!
So yeah, initial disappointment. But as long as we get great choice and consequence in this game , I'm ok with it.
Indeed its a good thing they never had a Concord they had an anthem but not a Concord-
If someone told me this was a new game from Riot or another studio, I’d find that more believable than it being the next Dragon Age sequel. I understand that the Bioware team might not be as large as it once was, but what is abundantly clear to me is that they’re hiring the wrong kind of people.
What impresses me the most is the strange state that was left after Anthem, they saw the failure that was the game that caused studios to close and people to be dismissive, knowing that pleasing the fans of Dragon Age and delivering a faithful and satisfactory game would give the company a boost in confidence but no, they prefer to take risks with Woke culture and dubious Inclusivity, not to understand this type of people they are literally digging their own grave
3 decisions from the worst game in the series means this game is even more worthless than I had worried it would be.
It's mostly peculiar to me that the same phenomenon is occurring across all media recently and it seems forced despite how poorly it's received by audiences
Yep. DA:V, Concord, Star Wars: Outlaws, Kill the Justice League, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Star Wars: Acolyte, Halo Live Action, the MCU, etc. All of them and more are or were complete dumpster fires. The one thing in common for all of them? The backlash and critiques weren't from internet trolls, they were literally from their own fanbases and communities who are simply passionate about their beloved franchises. Well, there's more than one thing in common (which you probably already know) with those titles but you get the gist of it. Across the board the Western Pop Culture media is imploding atm in front of our eyes.

I've been a DA fan since Origins launched, I've managed to find love for all three games, and man I am wary of what we've been shown of DA4. So, so disappointed that the studio has chosen to cater so heavily to new players *on the fouth title of the franchise*; it's such a bewildering decision, when their loyal base has been keeping the fires lit for a decade since Inquisition on bare scraps of hope for the future.
I will buy it, but not right away, I refuse to pre-order anything anymore, and I'll be waiting to see what reviewers I trust think of the game so I can go in with reasonable expectations. I did it for ME:A and managed to have a good time despite the wild jank that game had going.
The more I see of DA:V
The more I’m convinced it’s a Mobile Game
The reason there is so much controversy is mainly because it was originally an MMO game! it was developed for 10 years the last three years of development was the Veilgard. The game we see today took about three years to develop using assets from the MMO game.
The only sad point to this is, DA2 was made start to finish in 14 months. It took into account big and small decisions from Origins, and featured them and returning characters spread out across the 3 acts and dlcs. It's story wasn't great, but was impeccable for such a short development.
lol no that’s a misconception they had a base line that never changed and is still the point of the game ffs, a smaller mission per mission focused game like mass effect 2 I remember them saying that back when the game was announced and the many previews already proved this is indeed the case, ea did interfere and told them to do a live service game at one point in its development cycle but they were very against it and even tho they did work on implementing mmo style shit for JUST 2 years (idk why everyone think the majority of years of the work went into the live service stuff the devs said many times they fought hard against it so these aspects weren’t as implemented as people think) the base game and idea never changed the mmo style was scraped that’s it, they were more adamant on refusing ea this time so when they let them go back to being a single player they already stated the change wasn’t much of a change at all since they always fought hard to keep the original ideas, I get being skeptical and pissed (like I am) with the only 3 Past choices mattering thing, or other stuff, but at least keep the facts as facts and not silly misconceptions and false accusations, the game had at one point bc of the annoying tantrum of ea, multiplayer stuff included that is true but it was NOT the base idea or majority of what the devs worked on sheesh

@@GiovanniZaluchi DA2 was also a very shit game and universally panned, so what's your point?
@@kao123456654 how is DA2 shit are you fucking nuts? Its amazing
There are several factors I can see that are causing this.
People are getting tired of games with clear agenda/pandering slapped into it. Much like many of the movies coming out in the last 4 years.
Next you have the further moving to action and less RPG FF16 just had this issue as well.
Then you have the dev team is not using any of the things that made a DA game a DA game. They dropped the whole carrying over the players lore they been allowing to be built up over 3 games.
And they managed to piss off what's left of the loyal fanbase by rendering the entire Dragon Age Keep irrelevant and only taking into consideration 3 choices from Inquisition, two of which are from the very last DLC. So basically the world that players have spent years shaping has been rendered irrelevant and everyone will be back at square one, narrative wise. Almost like a soft reboot.
Concerning #3, the main reason for that that I can think of is that the people in charge know what kind of world that 99% of players would create. The kind that goes against their narrative. By preventing veterans from importing their world slate from DAK, the devs can cannonize what they want.
Lol same people didn't mind pandering when they were the ones being pandered to. Grifters complained about BG3 until the game turned out to be good - the problem with Veilguard is that it likely... won't be.
@@luthor24127 sure there are “grifters” around the pro/anti crap all over media. That I just can’t wait moves into something else and leaves my hobby alone.
As you said, that only matters to certain point and if the game is great it will be buried under that. Which everything my eyes been saying since day one this game will be ok at best.
There is many red flags here not just one.
wrong, got nothing to do with agenda, vision, artist put their vision in games all the time, however it's greed and laziness, BG3 had an agenda by your definition however it advanced the gameplay so well, even developped new ennemy ai technology and basically delivered the first AAA crpg game to great success. Bioware just had to supercharge the strength of Dragon Age , however EA mismanagement and the loss of the original team didn't allow the studio to build on its strengths, it's a technical faillure.
This game needs to die to start a chain reaction in AAA gaming so we can get back to making good games.
"Disliking a story I worked on is fascism." John Epler, Creative Director Bioware 🙄🙄
If this is what veilguard looks like, a new entry too the dragon age series, then I don't even want too see what the new Mass Effect will look like either. I hope the studio shuts down effective immediately after this game flops. If it was not already clear, the devs of old are not there anymore, it has been compromised a long time ago with he/hims and she/hers mind virus bullshit.
R.I.P Bioware, thanks for the good time's.
This was a moronic decision through and through. you don't change everything from art style to gameplay on the 4TH CHAPTER OF A SAGA, no one will buy this, not the old fans feeling betrayed by bioware and not new folks not familiar with the franchise that will see this dumpster as a discount Hogwarts Legacy mobile game.

It's a very tacky approach by the new dev team to cut ties with the old Dragon Age.

Can't wait to see Bioware finally shut down. Veilguard is going to be the final nail in that overdue coffin, mark my words.
It has been blindingly obvious since the game was first revealed it would be terrible. Since before that, actually, because its made by bioware and that alone tells you everything you need to know.

While I completely get a lot of the reaction to that game and why it didn't get a sequel, I was also disappointed as I do genuinely believe the sequel would have knocked it out of the park. Reading on the absolutely insane development of the game just strengthened that belief.
As someone who loved & played all 3 prior dragon age games! Was a fan waiting for a whole decade for the 4th to come out... I refuse to buy it! Not because of the "woke" excuse that gets used.
They ruined the art design & graphic vibe... they made the dragon keep & choices we made in prior games useless! And I loved the diversity in inquisition. Where you had companions with a firm sexuality. I couldn't romance Dorian as a female. Or Sera if I was a male! But veilgaurd wants to destroy that representation by pretending that all people are just willing to bang anyone! We're now all magically bi or pan!
You're not being "inclusive" as they pretend to be, when you act like straight & gay don't exist. It's laziness! **"Why create real choices, when we can just make everyone a free for all!"** is what they did. Does that make sense? They aren't woke. They weren't being inclusive. They made all companions available to any rook *OUT OF LAZINESS* ...
And what your rook is or who you romance is not even what I care about... the dialog we heard in trailers sounds mediocre & generic. The combat UI looks chaotic, too much mess on the screen while fighting... the art style/graphics look goofy as hell...
I'm glad they finally decided to give us better hair instead of "50 shades of Bald" like inquisition was... but that's the only thing I'm happy about! The rest feels off. This doesn't feel like the DA games I fell in love with.

"Rook is a mirror for the world and sometimes companions just have relationships with each other" -cori bush
I think you're right on it being anything but straightforward and a lot of your other criticisms I agree with (not commenting with regard to the nigh 50 winters part) about the game. The romance part in DAI I found pretty unsatisfying, particularly because I was really hoping they would take what they did with DAO, a game I would put perhaps in my Top 10 games ever, and just keep going, develop it further, etc. They didn't fully do that with DA2, but the intent seemed there...DAI was kind of a throwaway, depending on who you romanced. I very specifically didn't romance Solas (and didn't generally like him as a character a whole lot), so it's with a bit of wry amusement that it seems the choice I specifically didn't make is ret-conned to canon. The Bioware that made the game I loved is dead and never coming back, so my expectations are about where yours are...DAV will be...fine.
One of the things I find grating about the discourse around this game, which is currently the lightning rod, is the many dull-minded slugs with their "I don't like it so it's DEI or woke or trans propaganda and therefore sucks" or whatever other idiocy the two brain cells those craven brains comes up with, which overshadows the actual legitimate and thoughtful criticism. I loved the first two games and have sunk many hours into the franchise as a whole, but loyalty means less than nothing to the corporate hive mind at EA that does not care about anything past squeezing as many dollar signs out of a property as possible, which I think is mostly at fault for the severe tonal shift. However, I have not played it yet and am keeping an open mind for when I do. I'd love to be proven wrong and blown away.
Super Mario Bros, Doom, GTA, Monster Hunter, Legend of Zelda and many other franchises have evolved in a way that still FEELS like the original game and vision. Dragon Age The Veilguard is simply not Dragon Age. It does not respect the original vision and identity of what Dragon Age was trying to be in the beginning. It can be a best seller, 10/10, game of the year...but it is simply not Dragon Age anymore in my view.
Love your videos keep up the great work!
Every time I see a video concerned about Dragon Age 4 half of them devolve into complaining about diversity. Not talking about the real issues of and concerns of the Dragon Age series future installment. We have real concerns about Dragon Age 4 but it's being distracted by cultural war nonsense.
I think that's the point. How many dev resources does it really take to make "top surgery" scars? Probably not that many if they're already modelling scars and other body features. However doing so is basically free publicity to your game without needing to do anything. It builds a baked-in internet defense force ready to shill for anything else they do.
Well im sorry that im disgusted when someone pushing a wierd idiologie in my video games.
Also wokness is an indicator that a game is bad.
Outside of BG3 when was a game with those political messages good ? And even BG3 had very little of that.
I'm disappointed with it but I've accepted this is the state of Dragon Age as of 2024. It doesn't really feel that different from Inquisition from what we've seen, so I'm surprised to see people acting like this is a shock.
I think it is a further step from DAI tbh.
@@spellandshield Yea, DAI was a 1 step forward, 2 steps back situation but it still retained some form of the feel of what a Dragon Age game should be. VG looks like nothing close to previous games.
Kinda agree. Inqusition was a let down. But this is even worse.
Inquisition was Marveley compared to earlier games, but at least it tried to account for choices in previous games. This game only cares for 3. How is this not a further departure?
@@VerminaeSupremacy Well said. I hope Darwin returns the game industry to gamers
Mark my words, DAV will be the most 7/10 game of all time, but it will get talked up by the "games media" as GotY material.
i think most of the corpo journalist will give it 8 or 9s and the audience score will be lower.
@@EasytheGoon I bet they will give it an 8 or 9 than the players will give it around a 5 or 5and a half. I think there is a good chance a chain reaction starts with BioWare that will have it ending the same way Ubisoft currently is BioWare might get one more game but when veilgaurd comes out and ign isn't able to protect the game any more they will either shut down or start to.
@@averagelok1959 I'm hoping for a failure so bad that EA shuts down bioware and abandons its IP. If it could take out ign too that'd be cool.
@@EasytheGooni mean if you have to hope for something better hope that the game turns out to be actually good with some merits despite everything, there's not really much to be gained by BioWare getting closed
@@federicocasali1565 i dont have any hope that bioware can do any better. I think its best that it just be over. I dont want to see the same thing happen to Mass Effect that happened too Dragon Age.
As someone who has reached the "if theres no pick your waifu romance im not interested" stage, i view romance in games as the cheapest way for devs to give customization to playthroughs/replayability. Mass Effect is a great example of what i want: shepards romance doesnt change the main story or plot, but its a nice secondary aspect that adds more weight and flavor to the story and character of shepard.
It was made for modern audiences, not for me- it’s a sad reminder that the BioWare I love is dead.
I find it depressing that Bioware focused so much on companion romance for this game, yet Veilguard has the most unattractive and unappealing companions of the entire series. :(
Thats all reddit talks about and how the "hair is distracting from the romances"-
So we will never know what happened to our Warden and Hawke (if she/he was not the one left behind in DA:I).
What if we married Allistar and ruled as King and Queen in Ferelden? A cure being found would have a profound impact on that one nation alone. And that is just a FEW of the many choices.
I am now glad that BINO (Bioware In Name Only) and their "queerosexual gendermancer" creative director warned the real fans that this isn't real Dragon Age and we should not buy.
They had me teetering on skepticism the second they told us there was no blood magic. And gave us some weak justification on why. The fact that they don't take what works with previous iterations and modernize it also blew mine. But to disregard so many huge drastic choices. Morrigan's ritual and child. I have a playthrough where Alistair leaves cuz I spare Loghain. A playthrough where my Warden sacrificed herself and they had a whole new Warden in Awakening. The Mage Templar conflict decisions. We had talking darkspawn across multiple games. Or who is the next Divine. Hard to even be excited anymore
They say its a clean slate but then why bring morrigan and others back from the past🤷
I like that you pointed out thst rhe set designs and environments look absolutely great: juxtaposed against the fugliness of the characters.
This needs to flop for the greater good in the long term. If it happens, it will be a sad thing, but also giving a chance for someone with passion to take over, or simply bury the franchise for a long while until it is worth refreshing. If the title ends up just average, Bioware will continue to degrade and I don't even want to think what they will do with Mass Effect or other IPs they have...
I'm just hoping this game doesn't end in a cliffhanger. I just want some closer with Dragon Age, and then for Bioware to close and never get the opportunity to touch my beloved Mass Effect again and ruin it further. I'm defiantly going to play this game, but I'm 99% sure I'm buying it on sale after a month in when EA is desperate to recoup losses. After them closing the husk of a studio who called itself Bioware, because of said losses.
EAware is going the way of Ubisoft and will end up the same way.
I think Bioware is done.
They were done 2009 after ME3 endings
@@KarlKapo inquisition was biowares best selling game by far. which I was surprised by.
@@EasytheGoon I played it twice. In last session, I went 100 %. Did all the Dora Puzzles etc. Reward was nothing of worth. No lore..game was shallow af. The characters were well-written, but gameplay and story was so lackluster.
@KarlKapo I tried playing it. Got about 2 hours in and I couldn't get past that. I was mainly fetching herbs because I saw its an unlimited supply after you leave and return to the same map....
@@EasytheGoon. At this point I doubt it, they are faking their preorders too.
And even if it's true, that doesn't mean everyone liked it.
Most of them are people that saw the Hinterlands and never played the game again.
The choices us players made from the first game to the recent are irelevant. This game is no longer an rpg. its a game where the woke devs force you to play how they want you to play. Now Its just Dragon Age in name only.
I saw the State of Play new trailer.
Those are some of the most laziest, ugly, designed dragons I have ever seen.
Is that an indication, along with the ugly characters designs, this might be dead on arrival.
Half the people who played DAI were women and they love romance. But I suspect the big reason they ask for this is because they will give you something unique if inquisitor is a female elf that romanced Solas. And depending on whether you told Solas in trespasser that you would try to redeem him or not , in combination with inquisition's status, will likely dictate how the inquisitor will deal with Solas and if they will be successful.
well DAI was the best selling Bioware game ever. 12 million copies. I'm doubting 6 million were female.
@@EasytheGoon I found the article on Polygon. To be precise, 48% of people that played that game were women. And based on the direction of the franchise (lotta virtue signaling), their influence is clear.
The funny part is though that they got themselves excluded from representation via the nerfed sliders. Irony.
All this "modern audience oriented" fantasy of the last 10 years is devoid of any appeal.
The worst argument I got from defenders of this game is "It's gonna make some people happier so why do you care ?" when the amount of trans people is officially lower than 1% worldwide while people that are against any kind of "woke" ideology are very visibly much more numerous.
In the end, while the main idea of the argument is indeed true, with how inflated budgets are and how bad the current climate in gaming is, that just does not make any sense economically.
Re: Decisions, a VAST improvement over prior games. Imagine the pain of all the guys shutting up Imoen forever the moment she shows up after Gorion's death, giving Khalid&Jaheira a hard pass, never clicking on the random NPC that would have been their Minsc on the streets of Nashkel -- and then booting up BG2. ;)
Still, Swen Vincke likes what he's seen so far.
All I'm gonna say. Then again, he's thrived off what's been happening since forever at Bioware for a decade now --- so. ;)
the romance question is clearly meantt for solas as his roamnce is the one that has alot of impact for the inquesisttor then the others. it's not that hard to undersatnd.
it's also telling that all the choices you can pick are all related to tresspasser and solas.
I have really low expectations for this game. I think that the game is one where it will be best to wait for the game to be on sale a couple of years from now, when the bugs are resolved and there are mods that resolve the worst problems.
You would have to reskin it like Andromeda then you would have to shrink all of the heads then add the option for real breast and butt sizes. Right now it is a steaming pile I would not play for free!
Ig the three choices means little to no cameos it’s like they want this game to fail
This is sad no world state Carry over besides 3 choice's that's so lame
can we all just rename it to Fail Guard?
A slight correction to that... Instead it will be known as Dragon Age: Fail Hard
@@charleslaine I'll allow it.
I hate how female dwarves are now just as tall as male dwarves are. I think so are the humans and elves. Males and females are the same size it seems. Just lazy.
3 decisions is criminal! What happen to the “The Keep” and all those decisions from prior games ….Why does the CEO like money? Surely pleasing the fans would sale more copies …I’m legit sad because I’ve been playing since origins but I can’t support this
Thanks for using HOMM 4 music as background. It's always nice to hear it
If theres one thing Baldurs Gate 3 proved, its that gamers today despise strategic combat and choices with game spanning consequences. Im so glad they threw out everything that Dragon Age started with so they could focus on cosmetic surgery with blood buckets and leeches. Honestly it’s funny to watch developers actively avoid the road to success.
I genuinely have no idea how investors manage to look at BG3 and somehow draw all of the wrong conclusions about what made it work.
Burn away the infection and let something good be built in it's place.
Brk idgaf, if game is decent I will buy probably on discount i dont care about all the politics and agendas and whatever
I am planning on buying so I can see the "potential completion" of DA story. I won't buy it on day one, but when it's on some holiday discount. Cheap of me, yes. But, I'm welling to wait a few months more after a decade.
It's a real tragedy that there are so many awful developers and publishers holding great IPs hostage.
I fall in the middle surprisingly. I don’t think there’s any deal breakers for me.
I hate the obvious messaging “modern audience” stuff that’s clearly there.
But honestly after having replayed inquisition recently, it’s aged pretty poorly.
Especially the combat, which was never great in Dragon Age.
Romance was always a part of dragon age.
The problem is when the writers capacity for engaging characters falls short, the romances don’t work. Also an influx of shippers, tumblr fan fic artists and basement dwellers seem to have infiltrated modern media.
I think they wanted to try and hide there only being 3 choices from prior games as long as possible because they know the biggest draw to the game was the continued story. I know a lot of people stopped supporting this game after the 3 choices came out honestly it would sell 10x better if they took the time to write in the prior games, I know that a lot of people know they don't actually care now.
Bigger heads _and_ narrower shoulders. That one gif showing the before/after was mind blowing for a non-artist like myself.
I do think romance was an important part of the previous games (especially DA:O). Romance was important as so much of the games were heavily driven by the often fantastic characters, and thus your relationships with the ensemble are a very important part of the experience. It follows, then, that romantic relationships, due to their emotionally intimate nature, are even more important, but I have to agree with you, it's not as important as saving the world. You could remove the romance and still have a staller gaming experience, but you can't remove that story and all the relevant lore and have anything more than a dating sim with some light adventuring on the side (which honestly doesn't sound awful to me, if you punch it up to life sim, but clearly not the same game as if you simply removed the romances).
I have to say, if I weren't already out, that revelation about how little past decisions from the previous games are being almost completely scrubbed would be the final nail. That continuity was one of the coolest things from the previous games.
A few months from now, if content creators likd Slandered, or Wolf, or Spell&Shield are saying that they really enjoyed Veilguard, I may buy it.
I think it is a pity when the best to expect is 'mediocre'. I understand the idea of wanting to appeal to a wider audience, but if you alienate the original fanbase, it is not a wider audience, just a different one...
All the decisions were never relevant to begin with. Also, it's a misnomer to say that. Because some aspects of the games are just there without your decisions. These "decisions" are mostly an illusion that some gamers don't realize.
This isn't a Mass effect game with same protagonist playing an actual continuing story. In fact this game seems to be the closest so far in DA games to actually continue a story from DA: I Trespasser DLC that was the 'real ending" of DA:I.
Do I really give a flying crap about small decisions I can't even remember. No, I care about the gist and general state of the world and so on.
Everyone has to realize these are OPINIONS and no one has a more valid opinion than the next. Why do people assume that others share your opinion and that is in majority.
In fact it's very mixed views. And combinations of them.
DAO is one of the best games of all time, from BioWare’s golden age. It’s one of my very favorite franchises, but this one is a travesty. It would hurt to play this
“Let the past die, kill it if you have to” - Kathleen Kennedy
The game is shaping up to be a bad one. Weird marketing with a paid group of twitter influencers, cartoony main characters, paid reviewers from IGN hyping this up to be a GTA VI, and a silly audio drama that no one listens to.
The more I see that trailer the more I get annoyed that they released it with the messed up the wrinkles on that female elf with that massive fold between her eyebrows...
Bioware like Ubisoft will be a future case study on what happens when you ignore your consumers.
I don't know why you expect a good story or conclusion in this Title? I have seen the dialogue of this game, it's not looking good fam
We won't be seeing the next mass effect game. This for sure is the end of bioware
First thing - I am this evil, devil, evil evil leftist. I am part of evil devil whatever LGBTQ+. And takes few letters from it. And also I am disabled. And I do agree with this video. Veilguard is ugly in character design (ugh, heads, and don't even start with Qunari/Vashoth). Those 3 choices... It is like "well, did you romance Solas?" And romances were nice addition. ADDITION, damn it! Nothing more, and not the heart of the games. At least not for me.
Its gonna be a rehash of the blight, solas has been sidelined for the NEXT game. The villain is another corypheus like villain if not another archdemon.
They called us tourists but got rid of differing world states lmao the projection was real
I mostly play support and sometimes a tank in party based games, my companions not having health bars and me not having direct control of my party ruined it for me. Maybe combat will play OK but I doubt it.
