    I couldn't ever go even 2 hours without a cigarette for 20 years. And then came this magician. I am now a year off cigarettes. If a place called heaven exists, I hope that's where he is now.

      @Jack T I've read allen carrs book, it's changed my perspective on smoking, when I get over the frequent urges to smoke, I'm actually quite disgusted at the thought of smoking, even when I had my last cigarette, I felt sick while smoking it, hopefully I can keep that feeling alive in me, so I won't be tempted once all the nicotine leaves my system.

    I smoked for 15 years, almost half of my life, and quit with Allan Carr. It's been 3 months now and I will never go back.

    • @liesier90

      Update: I am now 6 months smoke free. I came back to comment specifically to say how hard it was up to 4 weeks and how much easier it got after that.
      I live alone and have a high stress career. Smoking was my pacifier. I would not smoke all day at work at the hospital just to com back home and smoke 10 cigarets in the first 90minutes at home. Totaling +- 15 a day but to me more specific... say 4 hours. You can do the calculations... it was extremely habitual. The first 3 weeks was... not gonna lie... TOTAL SHIT. I LIVED for those after work cigarettes and coming home alone... It was like losing a companion. Got a little depressed, but got over that as well. Sometimes my co-worker would come home with to wait for her carpool and she would smoke in front of me, say 3 days a week, after work, for about half an hour. I stuck to my plan and told myself there is no bargaining... quitting is now or never and I do not want to smoke the rest of my life.
      My reasons was 1. knowing (working in the health sector) HOW bad it is; 2. Allan Carr saying you would not cross a highway blindfolded hoping not to get hit; 3. I got into running ove a year ago and realized how bad my lung capacity was ( I would feel like puking, gasping for air while co-runners didn't.) 4. With shitty economy... i was scared having to decide one day when I am old/not able to work... if I will be buying a bread or a pack of 20. 5. I hated the smell on my hair and hands and in my car (never smoked in my house).
      ANYWAY, my takeaway is: Nowadays (at 6 months) I never crave a cigaret. Not when someone smokes in front of me, not when I drink my morning coffee, not when I take a long distance drive, not when I am in a crowded private bar where smoking is still allowed , not when I have a beer after a tough day. NEVER! HONESTLY!
      Not gonna lie... 3 months ago the cravings were long gone, but I would still think..."A cigarette would be perfect in this situation or setting". Now I don't even think of it. In the beginning a cup of coffee without the cigarette was like half the pleasure was missing... now I don't even think of missing the cigarette and can actually taste the coffee. I will also tell you that the majority of my family and friends are smokers. It didn't keep me from stopping smoking. They didn't try to pursuade me to have one last cigarette, and I do not ask them to not smoke in front of me... not even in ther own homes/cars. I actually encouraged them to carry on as usual.
      I never thought I would get to this point. I honestly thought I would crave it forever in certain situations but it really went away for me. I can now run a full 5km in my mid 30's, I could not even do that in high school. I will never look back, and I will NEVER frown upon a smoker/ talk them down etc... I have been there. I enjoyed it while I did smoke and was convinced nothing could replace it. I though so, but in the beginning it was torture, then I told myself tp not keep focussing on it, to think of something else when I crave. Eventually old habits died and new ones replaced them. You will only succeed if you want to stop for yourself, not for someone else.
      I wrote this friggin essay to show you what a die hard habitual smoker I was. I believe I succeeded. I am very confident now that I will not budge. One drag will be your downfall because nicotine is addictive. Even though I have 0% cravings, I will never take one drag to prove I am invincible. I have heard of peeps who quit fr 3 years, got hooked after smoing 1 cigarette to prove themselves. They smoke to this day. I hope this boring essay helps at least 1 person to commit. Let me know how it goes :)

      @Twelve Sevven Sure! It does not bother me at all! The cravings are gone completely by now. I was just thinking the other day... I can't pinpoint the exact time when I stopped craving... I just know it's been quite a while. Now with Covid19 I am super glad I quit. If you are quitting... be strong! It will get to a point where you don't miss it.

    • @liesier90
      @liesier90 4 роки тому

      @Twelve Sevven i was also scared of that! Try to not think about it all the time. It will pass aftera while. You still have nicotine in your system which makes you crave. Once that is gone it will get easier. Good luck!

    • @liesier90
      @liesier90 4 роки тому +6

      @philuip Cummins Still going strong at month 10. At this point I don't see myself "trying to quit" anymore. I succeeded. I get no more cravings and it doesn't even cross my mind when I have to face things that used to trigger wanting to light up. Almost like I never smoked. Will never go back, not even one draw. Feels great to be free.

    For those skeptical: the Easy Way is simply this (works for all drug addiction, for me it was alcohol)... The Easy Way is to basically see what the drug you're using really is and what it's effects on you actually are. That's it. Once you see that it's as easy never to touch the drug again in the same way it's as easy as never buying a packet of rat poison off the shelf and ingest it. Why would that be hard to accomplish? It isn't. Because you have no illusions or false beliefs about what rat poison is and what it does to you.
    The only difficult part is undoing the brainwashing which has had you and the rest of ignorant society for many years believing the drug you're taking actually has some benefits. Some positive. That's why you still take it.
    If you didn't believe that about you're drug you wouldn't need anymore willpower or effort to not take it as you would to not eat poison.
    Unfortunately, there is a multi trillion dollar industry out there called alcohol and tobacco. Their money is everywhere. In our doctors offices. In our movies and TV shows. On our billboards and in our social media news feeds. And it's all there to brainwash you into believing a false reality in which there actually is something good about the drugs they're selling you.
    When the truth is nothing they say about the taste, feeling, effect and the result of consuming their drugs is true. It's all an illusion. It's all fictitious.
    One example
    Whisky is a clear spirit, made from past-rotten (fermented) grains and malts, that destroys your brain and tastes like absolute sewer piss.
    But it's coloured with brown dyes, covered up with fancy labels, described in totally bullshit descriptions about "toasty woody vanilla raisin smoky charred oak notes in rare aged casks", and packaged in fancy bottles with fancy lettering at fancy prices, advertised by fancy movie stars playing super spies who get all the girls and kill all the baddies.
    You therefore convince yourself what is a bottle of factory produced dyed piss made in some grubby industrial estate with horrible weather is actually magic juice. The marketing told you so.
    Blind taste tests on UA-cam of scotch and wine are great proofs that the taste doesn't match the descriptions. That it's all in our heads and billions is spent to imprint those false beliefs in our psyches.
    Then there's the false marketing and beliefs about how these drugs make us feel relaxed, confident, stress free, happy, etc... When the truth is the fucking opposite 👍
    So you think, so shall you become

      Did you read This Naked Mind by Annie Grace? Because I just hit a year sober this month and that book changed the whole trajectory of my drinking! Absolutely insane that I drooled at the mouth seeing other people any time they had a drink for as long as I can remember, to literally having zero desire, just like that. It took work obviously, a lot of research and just taking in CONSTANT positive messages about sobriety since there is such a negative connotation around it. Truly, I have ZERO regrets. I am 29 now, quit at 28 and I’m so glad I can say I quit in my 20’s while I still could!

      It's shit. All it tells you is that smoking is so stupid and once you realise that you'll automatically stop smoking forever. It doesn't give any practical advice and situational examples. Nothing. NRT is bad, willpower is bad. Smoking is 100% nicotine addiction, and nicotine is more addictive than heroine but all you have to do is think positive thoughts. Yeah it's quacky and if you look at the guy himself he's quacky too.

      @@phishcatt Its worked for so many people including myself who was a heavy smoker. Maybe go to one of the sessions they run, I'm not a great reader and was worried reading the book I would get sidetracked but I got it. I think for me the most important thing was understanding smoking doesn't give any pleasure other than replacing the nicotine. If you have actually read the book and understood it you wont have any trouble, go back through the chapters you don't understand, and if you think you do understand it all I don't know why you would still be smoking. Good luck and hope you can give the cigs up

    • @phishcatt
      @phishcatt 4 роки тому +2

      @@s1r_b34rd5 Well I am a great reader, and I perfectly understood everything i read. It's quaky, culty and half assed. But I guess it appeals to less smart people who see it as full of epiphanies. I never in my life thought smoking gave me much pleasure other than temporary nicotine relief stress and even though I know this, it didn't take away from the relief I felt when smoking.Yet the book keeps bombarding you with this. I'd say that's pretty much ALL it says. I expected some practical steps, some CBT style behavioural exercises, but I got none of that, because the guy who wrote the book isn't even qualified or knowledgeable enough to give that kind of advice. I expected it though exactly because a lot of people claim it has helped them so much. As for going back and reading it again, I remember those were the exact words of the author, and the fact that you repeat them like this make you sound like a creepy cult member.

The key is understanding why you smoke and dealing with the big monster (the appearance that nicotine enhances your life, compliments every situation etc). Doing that with willpower rarely works and that is where this method comes in to show that there is an Easyway to freedom.

    My dear friend stopped smoking for health reasons and was miserable and stopped eating and drinking because she couldn't enjoy a cigarette afterwards. Then she read Allen Carts book... Which she was afraid to read because she loved smoking.
    Her life changed. She realized she didn't like smoking! She thought she loved it because she was stuck in a trap. Her burden lifted with the realization that it's easy to quit smoking once ahe perceived the trap and that she didn't even like smoking! The fear and sadness left. She wanted to know how the book changed her and asked me to read it
    I read the book on losing weight for women. I came to this part "You may be convinced that you have an open mind, in which case the chances are it is closed. The very fact that you're con- vinced is a sign that you're not receptive to all possibilities. Keeping an open mind is essen- tial for your success, so you need to be aware how easy it is to be tricked into thinking your mind is open when it's really closed." And I realized it was so Zen and his method used mindfulness. I searched through every book that he published and found one on Easyway Mindfulness. In that book it was revealed that Allen Carr had without realizing it used mindfulness techniques.
    I am reading the mindfulness book now and recommend Easyway books for anyone. Start at the beginning and just keep going. They are easy to read and wonderful.
