I think you might be the first tourist who stepped out beyond the CBD and explored Singapore heartlands and upload videos of it.
Nah I see them all the time in Punggol and Bukit Panjang etc
Not all the time. There's also the old railroad at King Albert Park / Bukit Timah, Tampines / Pasir Ris park and all, Sembawang where you can also see JB. Here, because I don't stay in the north or explore it a lot I'm not really familiar with the marsiling area
High and mighty..they cant be bothered..just exploit unlike in other countries..the importance of usage of the national language and keeping identity/presence
When he roamed around your neighborhood but you didn't get to meet him 😔
Black Axe exactly
He went to Yishun thrice and I have yet to see him. Though, sitting at home watching UA-cam doesn't help XD
Same
Then he is the ghost visitor ...👻👻
Haha only for those staying in woodlands west
"one kopi O kosong" you adapted well HAHA!
"Mosque colored like Doraemon" HAHAHAHA that made my day.
Great video as always! I would love to learn why you're in singapore for an extended period of time though!
he better watch his words on religions matter when he's in msia 😅
Does not feel offended to me, doraemon is blue, the mosque is blue. Can't blame him.
Depends on malaysia chinese say it, or foreigners say it. Also, say it in msia or say it in sg, will get diff results
U can say like a beautiful blue sky...if its their churches or temples
oh... he is not offensive at all. Malaysians know n love Doraemon.
You have my full approval.... you chose to have the rainbow roti (bread) with your ice cream! You are almost Singaporean now!
If that isn’t the biggest sign of a Singaporean, idk what is
Amazed by the detailed research you obviously did before visiting the place. Very informative.
@Zako such as?
Hiiii, sg guy here. Got any questions for me? (I cant answer everything don blame me)
@Zako Wrong and wrong. You literally answered your own question. Ghib ASSUMED and was giving his own thoughts about the situation, nowhere did he say it was a fact. He said there aren't many Mosque LIKE THAT SPECIFIC one around the country which is true too, never did he say there aren't many mosque in Singapore.
I am really impressed at how you get the nuances right and also at how you understand the contexts of whatever you are talking about! It is rare that a non-local can know a country to this degree. Keep up the good work!
Qin Yup. Amazed by his knowledge cause normally people who visits Singapore and Malaysia only for the sky scrapers
I watched almost all of your vids. I think you are the only person showing the ordinary sides of SG to the Japanese audience. Thank you.
I love how he stopped talking about HDB’s as soon as he saw a cat😂
Here's my like for saying you enjoy durian
I have no idea why people are revolted by durians. It was love at first taste for me when I tried it in Singapore.
@@endeliggnist5066 try it in malaysia in singpore is a little smelly
No ofence
Most of the hawker centre stalls have moved to Marsiling Mall, which is situated between marsiling mrt and woodlands mrt.
When durian season is back, you should totally do a video trying out the different varieties of durian!
appreciate that you do so much research about the places you visit!
You did your research really well! Enjoyed your series
One of the few foreign youtubers who doesn't spew misinformation about malaysia and singapore.
Ghib is a durian lover! Glad to know about this haha! Another wonderful video. Yes the place used to be bustling with lots of people and businesses but Singapore is always evolving so it's normal to us.
I grew up in Woodlands so this is really nostalgic for me😭 So Glad to see this part of the town again 😊 Thank you Ghib-san!
Used to live in Woodlands but now I live at Maryland so this brings me some memory
Me: Hey ghib, hows your day?
Ghib: oh it’s great, today I -
*OHHHH NEKOCHAN*
Cat is "neko" in japanese...little kids often don't say "neko" but "nyanko" or "nyanko - chan" when they see a cat...
My first time watching your video about Sembawang Hotspring and then lead me to this video. You really do lots of homework before going around taking videos and explaining the culture of Singapore. You are making locals here ashame cause you know more and explain in such a detail that many locals can't. Well done and keep more coming! Happy New Year!
Another amazing and well researched video by Ghib-san....wow wow wow
love watching your videos, i take away something new every time ! thanks for going around the less explored places and showing everyone the different sights of singapore. Proud to be a Singaporean ~
Can’t wait for you to upload JB videos!! Very excited!!
I am actually quite impressed you did your homework very well, probably even the younger generation Singaporeans may not know too. Yes, this old Woodlands Town Centre used to have many currency exchange, a food centre, wet market. It was actually very vibrant as early as the 70s if I am not wrong.
Anyway, if you are adventurous looking for abandoned places in Singapore, you can try Neo Tiew Estate, old Changi Hospital, Istana Woodneuk. But enter at your own risk...
By the way, the ice cream you bought from the kiosk. It is one of the last you can see in Singapore. Once these sellers gave up their license, no new licenses will be issued... :(
Walao Old Changi damn the scary sia
@@TIMETECH07 Young reckless days, went once... haha :P
@@ixactan69 😂
There is a ice cream seller back outside my school, quite a lot of students buy there. Im not sure if it is still there as i dont go across there nowadays
Thanks for adding subtitles. The part about the water agreements was very interesting!
You might want to visit Coney Island! It transports you to a whole new place!!
I love that you always say hi to the stray cats 😻
Ghib Ojisan, you should take a day trip by train to Johor one day and film the experience. Perhaps review some food there too. Would be interesting to see your experience.
Haha, I am also always distracted by the cute neighborhood cats!
Actually the Old town center at the checkpoint moved to Marsling mall. Civic Center and causeway point has existed long before The Oldtown Center was shut down :D but CWP was renovated and thus look slightly newer
the bus terminal is also new as we closed the underground bus terminal or renovation
Hey you walked past my primary school! Your video evoked my fond memories of this neighbourhood as I grew up in Woodlands! Happy exploring the rest of Singapore! Great video 👍🏼
Marsiling Pri or Fuchun?

Great, glad you enjoyed Singapore "D
Thank you for introducing the other side of Singapore to the world ! This is what most of us are experiencing now . enjoy the quirkiness our neighbourhood brings !
The HDB void decks (ground level open area) can be accessed by any members of the public. You need not worry about getting scolded. :)
I used to shop there a lot a long time ago. Nothing goes untouched in SG for long. Constantly changing.
Love all your videos. Its great. Good job.
13:17 Holy shit thats a nice camera xD
LMAIOIOOOO
조이이잉씨 omg bentley!!
taking video, holy shit thats a nice camera! lol
I want to see the cam.
Thanks for coming by and share alot about the place i grew up in. Your informations are pretty much accurate. Good job👍🏻
My school used to be nearby Woodlands old town centre
Yes that time was crowded and full of memories .
And I stay around Woodlands too .
Explore the countryside farms too, lim chu kang area!
👏👏👏well researched n v informative video...
Good job Ghib!
When I see you waiting n buying from there elderly uncle ice cream vendor, feels you are v likeable for adapting so well to Singapore. But when you ordered Kopi O Kosong, you earned my respect man....
You are v welcome to Singapore.
My country n it's people welcome people who respect others n their culture... 🥰
Woodlands is where i grew up and I've lived here my entire life, so glad to see you come here!
Wahhh I didn't even know this place existed in Woodlands. I learnt alot bout Singapore because of you bro. Thx! 🙇♂️🙇♂️ [Arigatou-gozaimasu]
Used to visit there Over 25-30 yrs ago. Its super crowded. Then it became a dead place after they moved the Bus interchange to Causeway point.
Owahhhh I hope to see you one day when I’m at Woodlands! I study somewhat near there and I’m always going there with my friends, so hopefully I might see you
Nice to see a young Japanese making a video clip of SG's heartland and has a liking for durians besides ability to order kopi O kosong. Knowledgeable and unbias view. 👍
Love to watch you talking with those friendly and nice Singaporeans. Makes me want to visit Singapore!
This is very informative. Keep up the good content.
@Gjib Ojisan, appreciate it that someone is exploring somewhere outside of the city central, but it seems wrong to call the old woodlands central a ghost town. Although the cinema has been closed for a long time, the area had always been bustling up till 2017, when it was announced that the area would be closed down, and the land used to build an extension of the woodlands check. It was due to this initiative that stalls were closed down, and even the hawker centre was moved to the new marsiling mall. So I would hope that it could be clarified, that the area and this so called “ghost town” was never “abandoned” but was being closed to carry out new plans.
ghib finally come to my area hahaha. actually it is walkable from the custom to waterfront xD. actually when i saw you going on the way to the custom, i thought u will shoot the "abandon" primary school too. because there was one. (i studied there as a kid) well since the title stated ghost town.
soon woodlands will have more people as new estate is coming out. today the new stations opened!
great! this video includes many things about Singapore ive never ever known , so helpful and valuable, thx!
i got used to watch the videos like this using English and japanese, i can feel it natural,
ur videos motivate me, i will relearn English this year,
anyway, i like the moment distracted by ネコちゃん、so cute!
If you research on ww2, there is an abandon tunnel near the bridge/Park you at. There is a lot of hidden history in Singapore. Good vid👍
A few thing to take note
1.Hdb ethnic ratio consist of English/Malay/Indian and other ethnicity.
2. Old woodland town was demolished to prepare for the checkpoint extension.
3. The new woodland bus interchange is bustling, and yes you are right that it almost connect to everywhere (taking 966 will bring you to marine parade fast, taking the 170 will lead you to JB (Please remember your passport))
4.The durian ice cream you ate isn't really full of durian flavors, so some tourist actually don't mind eating it)
Hi, you might like to visit Pulau Ubin if you enjoy nature and rustic environment.
Oh as a (born and bred in Singapore) Singaporean myself I didnt even know such a "ghost" town exists so thanks for the informative vid!!!! :)
Really impressed by the amount of information and knowledge of our culture .. Really accurate
So fun, ghib can I explore Singapore with you!! :D
Hi Mr Ghib! If you are interested you could visit the old railway station at Bukit Timah :D or maybe the old changi hospital if you dare to (tho it’s not that scary since they kinda did some stuff to it in recent years) looking forward to your future videos!
Ayy I rmb this place my childhood, I used to go here for religious class every weekends. It was quite bustling here when all the other buildings were around. Now all the buildings have been demolished except for Woodlands Theatre and Woodlands Point
I think when in 2017 all the buildings existed but they were in the “Ghost Town” state
1:30 Amazing how this guy can walk so much in just flip flops.
Every singaporean can walk as much if not more in flip flops
@@porridgeman Not me..I hate flip flops...probably the most uncomfortable thing invented
@@xxDxxism There's always adidas cloudfoam slides
the bridge where you can see JB is really nice. It's also great that there's a restaurant there which is a great spot to eat and watch the sunset after ♥️
looking forward to your Malaysia vids!
Haha love your channel! but don’t worry, its okay to just take the lift and look around the hdb. Thats what i used to do last time when i was bored , maybe just dont film the houses
You should try out the famous chicken rice at BLK 304 Woodlands. It called "丰丰海南起骨鸡饭" 🤔
You should come to Boon Lay and try the Power Nasi Lemak, and also take a stroll in the Jurong Lake Gardens ;))
Woodlands Town Centre is being demolished to make way for an expanded Woodlands Checkpoint
sgxpress95 just stupid how the government would just snatch away people’s house which I used to grow up there
Thank you for visiting the rarely visited places in SG and sharing them to the world from the eyes of a tourist hope you like our country.
That bus terminal may be big, but it's only temporary! The new bus interchange will be up when Thomson Line has completed
weird, this notification popped up on my phone but I wanted to watch it on my computer. it's still not showing on your YT page.. YT is so weird
Thank you for another quality and informative video! Singapore's MOE should use some of your videos for Social Studies. I'm sure even the teachers don't know some of the facts you tell us in your videos.
Hey, even the Imperial Japanese army crossed the bridge too. On bicycles all the way probably from Thailand.

My mother used to visit that place when she was young. She had to cross the border as she used to be Malaysian.

Aww!! You are in my area and you love Durian! I love you for that! 😂
Rather a ghost town I rather you call it a cat town.
It’s closed to make way for new checkpoint and there are many beautiful cats in marsiling. (:

Oh this made me missed my childhood home. Growing up in woodlands was fun.
Ken-san! You should totally do a durian video! Also if I host a dinner party, can I invite you?
When i saw the title, Ghost town? No way it's not demolished already.
MrHan not yet (I live here)
Good video 👍🏼
Hiiii you would definitely check out the observatory at Woodlands galaxy CC when you are around there! We are opened every Friday and Saturday 7-9 pm!
Hi Ghib! The stalls and hawker at old woodlands is actually relocated to a place called Marsiling Mall!
Old Woodlands is really a memorable place for me personally..
@ Ghib Ojisan,
Hi,
Thank you for sharing this walkabout video about Old Woodlands Town Centre.
Many familiar buildings appeared to have been demolished. You're right, it was once a bustling place to be. Am getting addicted to ur channel as you sure do ur "homework" b4 venturing out. So, you love the King of Fruits too......sweet, bitter, creamy any special preference? Head to Malaysia for "freshly dropped" durians when in season.
Have a great weekend.
really love your videos! even as singaporean, im getting to know my own country through you hahahah.
i am also improving japanese through you XD
Can't believe you were in woodlands!!
Ken さん, you really know so much about Singapore, it goes to show your love and interest in our country. Anyway, the vacant Woodland cinema used to be a very vibrant area with lots of shops and eating places, I used to go there very often as all my relatives owned shops there, unlike now where Singaporean go to JB to shop, in the 70s and 80s, the Malaysian crossed over to Woodlands to do their shopping , business for us were very good then, how things have changed with time.
tfw I forgot to turn on captions so I sat through 9 mins of the video without them. Turns outs I was able to understand 90% of what you said in Japanese. HAHAHAHAHA my Japanese modules at university have paid off. I really enjoy your videos! If only our local UA-camrs did content just like you did...
Hey ghib, you should try bedok reservoirs at after 12 midnight
This is not an abandoned town. And it is definitely not a ghost town. This is just a small town center area near the Causeway, right before immigration. It is closed down for redevelopment.
Marsling is so ulu HAHA but then again I live near Woodlands mrt and that's pretty ulu except causeway point 😂
