what if I wanted to change the panel in order to install a better quality one? how do I know if another panel is compatible with the laptop? :/
Okay, so I already found a screen for even cheaper than you suggested. It's the same model number as my laptop and it should fit. So thank you for this tutorial and once I order the screen I will give this a go.

Good tutorial . Very helpful. I have a question though. There is one separate white wire connecting screen with mother board, besides the connector cable. Any idea where is it connected to? Mine got snapped while opening, couldn't find point where it was soldered on.

Just a minor note, be careful when your taking out the screen vessell, i cut my finger on the glass.

But here's my quick question, I am seeing on online laptop screen sites that there are a bunch in the cq57 series like the 339, 439, and a whole bunch of others, but I am not seeing on any website for my laptop model which is the cq57-489wm. Is it possible to use another screen from the cq57 series on the cq57-489wm instead or am i SOL?

Hi want to know how to Oder to the front cover on a crack on it buttom I am ordering a led screen but it has a crack in the button an the metal that holds it the screen led. It just fall off

I knocked the screen pretty hard and the inside layer is cracked or something and there is also just a bunch of wavy lines. Needs replacement.

I had a messed up screen and i took it to get repairs until he was like it will cost 175 i told him i might as well pay and extra hundred and some change and get a brand new one. Then he asks if i wanted to sell it for $25 i told him hell no. So luckily my computer programmer mom told me i can just get a monitor for less than 100 for a temporary fix and just hook it up to my laptop she offered to take it apart and fix it but i didnt want to take the chance that she messes up and then i really would have had to buy a new laptop

If you don't have the tools he does and you use a smaller tool for the size you need to remove all the screws, it's difficult because they use "Loc-tight"on the screws and it can be difficult to remove. Otherwise it's a great video.

Ok guys i got a tough one, my friend gave me his old compaq laptop that hasn't been used in 4 years. It is a Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM . Now here is the catch, 4 years ago the screen was cracked and when they replaced it the screen stopped working (they never saw it in action), they planned on fixing it but never did so they eventually gave it to me. So I took apart the front of the laptop and re-connected the cable that connects the screen to the cpu and when i turned it on it only flashed a loading screen a few times and stays this bright black like there is power going to it. I also cleared all the static electricity to see if that worked but nothing. Here is another catch, to turn it on it must be connected to the charger with or without the battery and to turn it on i press the f5 key. To turn it off i hold the power button. yet I can't hold the power button to turn it on no matter what. There is also no blinking lights and it seems like it should work besides those mistakes. So once I found all this out I took apart the back and found only one ram so changed it to a new channel but no luck. I am begging anyone person to solve this impossible mystery because this is probably the only laptop I will get for a long long time.
I know this is years old but it sounds like it maybe corrupted, try changing the hard drive. Or it may need a boot disc.

I have solved this issue! Pain in the A!!! Take the battery out of the laptop and remove screw that covers the panel for the wireless card. If you notice there is only one wire connecting your wireless card! Apperently these laptops were sold on Black Friday and they are defective. Contact HP and they will send you a box for repair. I had to take care of two of these for customers! Good Luck

Есть мнение, что это ШИМка или предохранитель. Иногда запускается с ярким экраном=без затемнения. Плавающий контакт...

Electrostatic discharge from your hands can seriously damage your screen AND laptop !
Buy a cheap ESD wrist band (on Ebay) to connect yourself to ground.
