Yes as Ken said, the double sided tape is removed by pulling from the ends, accessible via a cutout in the hinge. The heat gun method is useful if the tape can't be grabbed.
It's amazing to me that in a video that came out 9 months prior to yours, from HP, they mention the pull-tabs for the monitor adhesive, and you don't mention it at all. You actually take a heat gun to it, and risk melting/damaging the top lid. You also DO NOT have to take that top bar off... I won't recommend you to anyone... sorry...

it is a very primitive way of doing it, since it will warp the back cover if it's made out of plastic, which most hps are. i suggest using acetone and a plastic spudger.
