I was going to pass on this pattern, but after watching you make it, I’m looking forward to making it now. Thank you! I’ll definitely watch more of your videos.
Yay! It's fun!!
For marking dark fabric, the new white pencil in our Sew Sampler box would come in handy.
I was about to say the same thing. Everything in that box sill make doing this quilt easier 😊
Lol yes! I was on auto pilot!
@@pickinstitches I’m glad you showed it and not edited it out🫣I’m sure we weren’t the only ones talking 🥺to you on the video 😂 😂 😂 😂 I love that you do the sew sampler quilts. You’re the only one that I watch that does so it’s very inspiring to me! I love that when I get time to add it to my to make list I can go back and watch the video 📺 before I start 🏃♀️ thank you Kelley ~Martha San Jose, California
So glad to have you here and that you like my sillys! Im a bit scatter brained, but really do this for fun for myself- otherwise Im always sewing alone :)
Thanks for the help on this quilt as I am trying to do all the quilts from the sew sampler boxes to increase my knowledge. You have eased my mind as I thought I would not be able to this one.
You are so welcome! It's not too hard just go slow and give yourself some grace:)
When I got my box and looked at this pattern I said no way. You made it look doable. I will save it for this winter when I can dedicate slot of time to it. Thanks and great tutorial..
So glad you enjoyed it! You can totally do it!
Great Tutorial! Thank you for taking the time to learn and share what you learned to help us! Greatly appreciated! I’ve only been quilting 4 months and this makes me not as apprehensive to try out the clammy sew sampler now 🥰
@MapleNutDesigns it's a fun one! Glad to have you along:)
Perfect time to use your stiletto tool matching the points.
Absolutely! I did us it a little but the pins held better for me, but yes lets try all the tools in our belts!
Thank you for these directions! Seems to fussy for me.
You can do it! But if it doesnt sound like fun you can always make the other pattern!
Thanks for showing how to cut fabric using the stripology ruler. I recently bought one and I sm enjing it immensely. Great tips on sewing curved seams. There IS a SLIGHT learning curve (pun intended) but it is easier than you think and adds another worthwhile skill. I find that using a stiletto or the tip of a seam ripper helps guide the fabrics under the presser foot.
Thats a great tip too! I bet with the bigger clamy it would be an easier curve and the stiletto would get it done, but I guess I rush too much to hold it well with the stiletto on these smaller curves. Its a fun box for sure!
Great tutorial Kelly, I haven't tried to make the blocks yet.
Have fun!
Boy! You just got busy right away! Now I'm anxious to start mine!! Thanks for video!
Hope you enjoy it! I couldnt wait to start it!
Every time I watch your videos I obsess over your clappers. They must be 18" long. Where did you find them?
I need to do a vidoe, lol! Hubby made them for me and I LOVE them. Long enough for the whole seam on most blocks and they are heavier than store bought ones. They are custom for sure!
Great tutorial. Those curves make my brain go sideways. 🤪 you made it look much easier. Super tips and tricks too. Thanks for taking the time to show us.
You are so welcome! When ever I start a curves quilt I have to move very slow in the beginning--- it alwasy feels like Im sewing the wrong spots!
You make it look very simple! I appreciate your tips! Thank you!❤
I'm so glad!
Thank you for the tutorial.
You are welcome!
I like your video it makes this less intimidating. Thanks for showing us your process. Are you making the full size of this quilt? Let us know if you find out backing is less.
Yes I am! I just cant see how 79 inches is going to need that much fabric. I pulled up a backing calculator I use all the time and it says with 3 inches overage you would need 4 and 3/4 but with 6 inches overage you need 2 seams so it needs the 7 3/8! but that is with regular fabric, if you use 108 you only need 2 5/8 for a standard 6 inches overage. Hope that helps!
It is a big quilt. I love finding good deals on 108 fabric. It definitely saves a lot. Thanks
Stripology was one of my best purchases. I have both Stripology Rulers, XL and the Squared. I like using both depending on how many. I got the Squared on sale at my LQS.
I love it when we can support the local shops too!
You explained this perfect. Thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful!
New to your channel thanks for a great video on the Ruler!
Glad it was helpful! Happy to have you here :)
Thank you, I appreciate your tips.
You are so welcome!
Good instructions and tips, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Yes, I love batiks
Batiks are so pretty!
Great video. Just got my Sampler box and I am a bit intimidated by the project,t but you have made me exited for it.
You can do it! It really is a fun one!!
I'm curious about the backing measurements too. It's sounds excessive but I don't know. I can't spend $110 right now so I'll have to wing it. Thanks for the video. It's super helpful, as usual.
Hope that helps!
thankyou!
You are welcome!
Didn’t a marking pen come in the box? I believe it was for marking the dark fabric.
Enjoyed your video.
Good point! I get on auto pilot sometimes 🙃
When you open your box you commented on the amount of background fabric sounding like a lot, did you determine it was correct?
It is:( but only if you want the full 6 inches overage. If you can squeeze it in 3 inches then it's way less. Or even a 108 backing will help too! I think I'm going to do the sams backing as the blue square parts so I'll make use of all the extra:)
Didn't we get a sewline marking pencil for these dark fabrics?
YES! I totally forgot about it, LOL too many projects:)
Where did you get the fancy design board stand?
Here you go! tinyurl.com/PickinStitchesHolder
Why not use the marker from the sew sampler box to mark the dark fabrics. ?
Because I totally forgot about it! Lol!
👋👋. Nice tutorial. Thank you. ? Where did you get your clapper?
I need to do a video on that, Hubby made them for me. I LOVE them :)
I want to see a video on those clappers too - they look fantastic!
The fabric is sure pretty! 😁
Do you think your machine is good for a beginner?
I love it! I did a whole review on it here if you want to take a look. It will only do a straigth stitch so if you need to do anything else it might be better to go with the DX7 tinyurl.com/PickinStitchesdx7

@@pickinstitches Thanks SO much!! 🥰
Which white fabric do you find you use the most?
I by Bella solid 97, the best price Ive found for the whole bolt is here --And the fabric I buy by the bolt for all my backgrounds, and they have free shipping on the bolts right now tinyurl.com/PickinStitchesblot
It would seem more natural to me to put the patterned fabric on the top…is that possible? I haven’t got my box yet. I used to work for a lingerie company and stitched in a lot of bra cups that looked similar. 😊. We had to sew around them no pins, no markings, it all worked out.
As long as you have the correct sides touching I dont see why not :)
