I always precook my beans when making any bean dish. Adding salt or tomato products really slows down the cooking especially with older beans. Another way would be if you have a pressure cooker or an Instant pot. I would just add some water to the hard beans and give them another go in the crockpot or the stove.

Great Job, Girl! :) Add some water to the beans and cook them on the stove. They probably just didn't get up to temp in the crock pot.
