Most likely because it wasn’t supposed be out yet, those things usually have a street date that they release in and because that one was put out before he was actually supposed to, the reader wouldn’t have read it.
It’s insane to me that they didn’t bother changing this guy up unlike Springer. No new molding to make him more screen accurate. No new accessories. Just…the Kingdom toy again. Yay. It doesn’t help the rerelease for Legacy without the battle damage was a MASSIVE shelf warmer.

Personally, I think they should have skipped the Legacy version and jumped straight to this in 86 packaging ASAP after Kingdom. But the Kingdom version was kinda hard to find and some people did want that color without the battle damage so I guess Legacy was a fair option. Now watch a minor repaint of K. Cyclonus come in SS86, just to irritate OCD collectors.
Uh you’re wrong. The animation model is wildly inconsistent. Sometimes it’s one his forearm and sometimes it’s mounted on the bicep. It’s also been shown to be mounted of his shoulder like the g1 toy. Stop telling people how to display their figures.

I looked in the scenes of the movie and watched the episodes Galvatron appeared in, and I even saw the animation model, it's always been on the forearm because it was eaiser to place the cannon on the forearm. I'm not bashing the toy for the placement of the arm cannon, you're just trying to make a scene by being a hypocrite, and you haven't been even looking at the animation model, properly! So don't even think about criticizing me and telling me what to do!
While this is like the 4th or 5th time we have seen this galvatron this is probably the best deco wise. The more vibrant on the purple of the kingdom/legacy does look nice but the purple on this that looks metallic is very eye pleasing
I feel like Hasbro just can't figure out how to make this mould better than it already is. I mean it's damn near perfect as it is so I can see why we haven't gotten a new G1 mould in recent. It's still a shame tho I hope we get one in the future
The shade of purple is definitely the highlight of this guy, it looks really nice, honestly better than the kingdom/legacy version. I already have that version though.
I still need that Galvatron. Love the studio series 86 figures. I found a cheaper Optimus so I got him instead. My 16 yo daughter is a Transformers addict just Iike I am. And it's fun collecting with her. She knows so much about Transformers and takes care of her figures. Makes me proud.
I absolutely love the Kingdom Galvatron figure with every fiber of my being, so I got this guy the moment he went up for preorder. And he's really nice purple, which is a plus Side note, turn the head around when transforming him. Makes it go in a whole lot smoother

While I don't like the "scuffs" on the Kingdom release, it looks like it has more paint deco than this one, and more colour depth in general, I think. I'll stick with what I have, but I'm hsppy for those who really wanted this one. Pound to a penny there's going to be a pale mauve or lavender one on the Japanese market within a year . . . .
The only thing that's missing from the showcase of his Canon mode is him blasting star scream like in the 86 movie lol. Outside of that it's great that we do have another version of this particular galvatron and he still leaks better than the version that we got from age of extinction but we are at the point where we have so many galvatrons that one more feels a bit too much. But Hey at least we saw him do the splits by himself and then we saw fake galvatron falling apart from the start of the video so that is a plus lol.

The purple one is from the tv show and the blue from the movie so take your pick. I will pick this one once I find it on sale. The $60 price for a figure of a mold that is what 2-3yrs old is not worth it. They could give him hinge hands, special fire effects but no. Nothing outside the different paint.

I grabbed it because I was really unsatisfied with the Legacy release’s purple being so flat and because I’d lost his matrix chain. I love the Straxus too, so that was a real clincher for me. Having it in hand now I can say I really do love it, the new purple is perfect!
Should have upgraded him with articulable hands and extra wheels on the treads. Take out the small Nemesis ships for a big and a small beam effect. This one is near perfect but just a couple nick picks I have.
I love whatever that blueish purplish color is but personally I don't like the greys used on this version. It makes me think of thermal paste, liquid cement, clay, or idk....putty I guess. I think the black on the kingdom/legacy version looks nicer and helps the red pop more and than what the darker grey does. Glad for anyone that likes it more. I don't know if I'll get it.

I got lucky and found one of the legacy releases of this mould for £15 in a charity shop. Then i saw the same toy for 60 quid in a toy shop. So absolute bargain.
i love this mold, and this deco is one of it's best ones, but it's hard to see it as worth it when most of the previous decos can be found for the price of a deluxe
This is the Official Galvatron that I've been waiting for since I saw the 86 movie opening week when i was a kid. I wish that hasbro included a stubby barrel instead of the ship guns but a buddy of mine printed up some stubby barrels for me when the kingdom version came out so I just transferred them over to the new ones that I picked up for my displays. I'll grab the dna kit and hopefully ill find the garage kit fin for this release like the kingdom one for one of my display Galvatrons. I cannot wait for hasbro to release the studio series Rodimus Prime that is movie accurate to go with this guy.
The legacy version became a clearance rack steal in my area. If the same happens with this version, sure, a no brainer pick up. Display one in robot mode, one in cannon mode.
Thanks for pointing out those clipping points for the treads and the locking point for the Matrix chain in turret mode. Somehow I didn't notice either of those on my Legacy copy. Speaking of which, I'll be sticking with my Legacy Galvatron, but I will admit the colours on this one look nicer here than they did in the stock photos to me. This is a great mould, and I'm glad that this release will give more people a chance to sample it. Though I wonder, now that this is a thing, is there a chance they could rerelease Kingdom Rodimus Prime in Studio Series '86 (soon to be just Studio Series) too?
The amount of times this mold has been used almost feels like Hasbro being like "OH YOU WERE UPSET ABOUT THE SHOULDER MISASSEMBLY ON THE KINGDOM, HUH?!? HERE TAKE IT! TAKE THE FIGURE! THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED, RIGHT?!?" That's definitely not why he's been re-released so many times, but I'm making that my headcanon.
I agree he should of had another face to spice it up. But to be fair, he didn't go insane until he got yeeted into space and fell into a plasma pool. definitely would of been nice still, or opening hands to he can choke out Hot Rod like in the movie
Really lame that this got zero resculpting. New posable hands like Springer or Coronation Starscream would've gone a long way towards making it worth the money. As it is, I'm waiting until it's on clearance.
Just to point out, DNA Design recently made an upgrade kit for this mold. My only knitpick with that specific kit for this mold is that it has a posable index finger. The kit for the legacy mold has a fixed index finger. it is not posable. Now I gotta go get this version of this mold so I can get the upgrade kit with the posable index finger!😮💨😤😤😤😤😡
I've got the Kingdom version, and I really, REALLY hate that chain. It annoys the hell out of me that it's rigid plastic and so, due to his fixed fists, he can't even hold it aloft in triumph. It either needed to be an actual chain, or he needed opening/closing hands to make it worthwhile.
Yes. This is how he should have looked originally. It’s his actual movie colors, not just some shade of purple. What we didn’t need is the original release, its repack or the clear purple toy. SS86 Galvatron, Selects 1986 toy Galvatron and Straxus should have been the only uses of this mold with SS86 being the first use.
Once I get mine in, I'll apply the DNA upgrade so that he has new hands and a new head. I like the mold but I wanted him to look closer to the film instead of CHUG
I'm fortunate enough to not own this mould rn, just gives me more incentive to grab this one. That being said, Aotp stuff, 86 Devastator, and other SS figs take top priority rn. Once i knock those things off the list, I'll pick this up(who knows, it might be on sale by then)
Hot take: I wish toy galvatron colors were his official colors. The purple looks great on this figure don't get me wrong cause I got it but I wish he truly looked like his toy version because it represents Megatron being reincarnated alot better and shows with the grey instead of the evil purple deceptions. But thats just me good figure though he looks great next to 86 prime
The Generations Selects Galvatron is really good. The only thing that's really missing is the old vac-metal chrome, but that's what ToyHax stickers or chrome markers are for.
im gonna hold out and hope for a sale before picking him up. I really REALLY like the new shade of metallic purple but I can't really justify dropping £55 on it when I got the Legacy one for £30
I have the kingdom version but I do want this version because I prefer these colors more than the ones we originally got. But I am gonna wait to get him on sale for like $20 cheaper. Like what I did with Armada Galvatron.
When this one was announced and it was the same mould as before, I immediately bought the Legacy version - which was on sale for £30 instead of £56 this guy is going for - before other people made the same decision and it sold out. I like the colours of Legacy, which are closer to the Galvatron colours in S3/4 and certain lighting in the 86 movie.
I like the color scheme overall, and the lack of clear plastic helps for the gun barrel, but my biggest stripe is they should have given us opening hands for the matrix accessory instead of reusing those gray guns nobody really likes
Makes me worried that if they wind up doing a studio series 86 Rodimus Prime, they'll just reuse the Kingdom mould. Which isn't bad but would be nice to have some retooling
Yes, we did. It’s the best version of this mold. The colors are so much better than every other one that came before it. And my generation selective version is starting to yellow.
huh. i've had Kingdom Galvatron since christmas 2021 & i didn't know the treads tabbed in for cannon mode. 6:33 Mine has the same thing, and it's a first run with the low shoulders, so i think that's just a qc thing
When a mold is really good, I do not mind owning it several times, even when it is the same character. Like ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime (from 2009). Heck, I would even but this again if they made a (real) Marvel Comics version (that Gen Selects release to me looks more like the old toy, dunno why some consider it to be the Marvel Comics version).
Eh I have the earthrise mold and I bought the upgrade kit for him I kinda like the damaged look on that series so I never really thought that there would have been a studio series mold after the 4 other ones they released
Galvatron I think to date has been my favorite modern Leader. Substantially big, articulated, painted nicely, and has some fun accessories, whereas Hasbro could have just pulled another Armada Megatron and only included the canon. No problems with the Legacy release, and the shoulders I believe have long been fixed since the Kingdom release. As an 86 release the colors are excellent, but at the price point not enough of a draw to budget a second one. Not when Hasbro did absolutely nothing to improve the mold. I mean a yelling face or scary grinning face, and some hinged figures would have made this almost perfect.

Such a missed opportunity to have swapped the 2 ship cannons for a molded plastic mound of disintegrated Starscream remains & a crushed crown.
With this version of the mold, though, the Matrix accessory and the two ships can make more sense now.
Here's the thing... If I didn't own a Galvatron figure. I would buy the Legacy version. I'm not willing to pay 40% more for cartoon colors.

Speaking of which, I'll be sticking with my Legacy Galvatron, but I will admit the colours on this one look nicer here than they did in the stock photos to me. This is a great mould, and I'm glad that this release will give more people a chance to sample it.
Though I wonder, now that this is a thing, is there a chance they could rerelease Kingdom Rodimus Prime in Studio Series '86 (soon to be just Studio Series) too?

The amount of times this mold has been used almost feels like Hasbro being like "OH YOU WERE UPSET ABOUT THE SHOULDER MISASSEMBLY ON THE KINGDOM, HUH?!? HERE TAKE IT! TAKE THE FIGURE! THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED, RIGHT?!?"
That's definitely not why he's been re-released so many times, but I'm making that my headcanon.
Even though I already have the Kingdom Galvy, I might pick this guy up to go with my SS Scourge and SS Cyclonus.
I agree he should of had another face to spice it up. But to be fair, he didn't go insane until he got yeeted into space and fell into a plasma pool. definitely would of been nice still, or opening hands to he can choke out Hot Rod like in the movie

Really lame that this got zero resculpting. New posable hands like Springer or Coronation Starscream would've gone a long way towards making it worth the money. As it is, I'm waiting until it's on clearance.

Just to point out, DNA Design recently made an upgrade kit for this mold. My only knitpick with that specific kit for this mold is that it has a posable index finger. The kit for the legacy mold has a fixed index finger. it is not posable. Now I gotta go get this version of this mold so I can get the upgrade kit with the posable index finger!😮💨😤😤😤😤😡
I've got the Kingdom version, and I really, REALLY hate that chain. It annoys the hell out of me that it's rigid plastic and so, due to his fixed fists, he can't even hold it aloft in triumph.
It either needed to be an actual chain, or he needed opening/closing hands to make it worthwhile.

Yes. This is how he should have looked originally. It’s his actual movie colors, not just some shade of purple.
What we didn’t need is the original release, its repack or the clear purple toy.
SS86 Galvatron, Selects 1986 toy Galvatron and Straxus should have been the only uses of this mold with SS86 being the first use.
Once I get mine in, I'll apply the DNA upgrade so that he has new hands and a new head. I like the mold but I wanted him to look closer to the film instead of CHUG
I'm fortunate enough to not own this mould rn, just gives me more incentive to grab this one. That being said, Aotp stuff, 86 Devastator, and other SS figs take top priority rn. Once i knock those things off the list, I'll pick this up(who knows, it might be on sale by then)

Hot take: I wish toy galvatron colors were his official colors. The purple looks great on this figure don't get me wrong cause I got it but I wish he truly looked like his toy version because it represents Megatron being reincarnated alot better and shows with the grey instead of the evil purple deceptions. But thats just me good figure though he looks great next to 86 prime
The Generations Selects Galvatron is really good. The only thing that's really missing is the old vac-metal chrome, but that's what ToyHax stickers or chrome markers are for.
im gonna hold out and hope for a sale before picking him up. I really REALLY like the new shade of metallic purple but I can't really justify dropping £55 on it when I got the Legacy one for £30
I have the kingdom version but I do want this version because I prefer these colors more than the ones we originally got. But I am gonna wait to get him on sale for like $20 cheaper. Like what I did with Armada Galvatron.

I have a MFT NOT Galvatron that is G1 Style and I love it so much as the chain is a metal chain to hold the Matrix of Leadership
I really love the colours on this version, but can't justify getting it when I already have the first legacy release
When this one was announced and it was the same mould as before, I immediately bought the Legacy version - which was on sale for £30 instead of £56 this guy is going for - before other people made the same decision and it sold out.
I like the colours of Legacy, which are closer to the Galvatron colours in S3/4 and certain lighting in the 86 movie.

I like the color scheme overall, and the lack of clear plastic helps for the gun barrel, but my biggest stripe is they should have given us opening hands for the matrix accessory instead of reusing those gray guns nobody really likes

Yes, we did. It’s the best version of this mold. The colors are so much better than every other one that came before it. And my generation selective version is starting to yellow.
huh. i've had Kingdom Galvatron since christmas 2021 & i didn't know the treads tabbed in for cannon mode.

When a mold is really good, I do not mind owning it several times, even when it is the same character. Like ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime (from 2009).
Heck, I would even but this again if they made a (real) Marvel Comics version (that Gen Selects release to me looks more like the old toy, dunno why some consider it to be the Marvel Comics version).

Eh I have the earthrise mold and I bought the upgrade kit for him I kinda like the damaged look on that series so I never really thought that there would have been a studio series mold after the 4 other ones they released
Galvatron I think to date has been my favorite modern Leader. Substantially big, articulated, painted nicely, and has some fun accessories, whereas Hasbro could have just pulled another Armada Megatron and only included the canon. No problems with the Legacy release, and the shoulders I believe have long been fixed since the Kingdom release. As an 86 release the colors are excellent, but at the price point not enough of a draw to budget a second one. Not when Hasbro did absolutely nothing to improve the mold. I mean a yelling face or scary grinning face, and some hinged figures would have made this almost perfect.

While a crazed face would've been nice this figure is meant to be movie accurate and he didn't go crazy until AFTER the movie
All I want in a Galvatron, is a better cannon mode. The arm/pylons don't jut out far enough in that alt mode. Anyways, that's my gripe.
