As someone has already said, you can file that under ‘shit happens.’ I’m an old petrol head who still gets cold sweats over the existence of fuel injection, but I’m not blind to the future, which is electric, and I don’t think for a second that the charging issue on your loan bike means that all electric bikes are rubbish. Cheers for all the great videos, by the way.
yup, same thing happened to my Zero S, no matter how often I pressed the button it wouldn't reset the BMS which was replaced under warranty the next day and never had an issue with it again....until months later the bike was stolen - four burly blokes put the bike in the back of a transit van and it was never seen again!
Thanks for the video, I wondered what was hiding under that grommet. It's on the front face of the battery pack of a Zero S, so I've inadvertently knocked it off while cleaning my bike, though it's really easy to put back on again.
The feeling you got when you realised you couldn’t fix it and it’s got to go back! Is the exact reason I won’t buy one. Ive had the same thing with the little hyper scooters costing 3-4k and something electrically stops working and it has to either go back or you wait weeks for the part to arrive 🤦🏼♂️ twice that’s happened on both the scoots I had, but while working they were unbelievably good! Not saying that Zero won’t get it fixed in quick time but for me even a day without something I use regularly is a day too long. The best thing zero can do in situations like this is at least be able to diagnose the problem and send you the new part next day delivery, I’d be happy enough with a service like that but I bet that’s not even close to being possible!
It's similar for ICE bikes though, quite easy for an injector or something to go for whatever reason and its in the garage for a few days/weeks whilst the part arrives, definitely not unique to electrics.
@@jakebrennan7685 what’s an ICE bike? But the difference between needing an injector for a reg bike (which I’ve never ever needed on a new or nearly new bike) and a motor controller or similar for an electric bike will most likely be huge! I could source an injector or similar within a day or 2 and fit it myself. Where as the motor controller, although I may well be able to fit it myself? Getting hold of the thing is another matter.
Hey! I'm having a similar issue where all of a sudden my battery went to 0% while I was out riding. Luckily, I got it back home without any issues but now it's not charging. I want to try and do a bms reset but I'm hesitant because I don't want to ruin the warranty from Zero. Does anybody know if this bms reset would affect the warranty? I'm in the US Miami and bought my bike new in December 2021.
Same thing happened to my FXE - was going to tow back to dealer when bike "fixed itself" after 24 hours. Wondering if I should have dealer analyze the BMS board....
Are Zero still doing that shit where the bike comes with all the hardware for features but you have to get Zero to switch them on ? they did that with the SR/f thats bullshit and puts me off entirely
The only thing I don’t like as an electrician with this bike is that kettle lead I’d at least want something like an commando plug or something with an IP rating just if it gets changed outside
Work with ebike battery, this looks like a smart bms issue if left the bike on it will drain cells to 0v is not great New way is a bad way how build packs What voltage is this motorbike 20s ? = 72v
It sort of is fair though to critique these for this fault , mainly down to how expensive they are aswell as that electric motorcycles are new technology and like anything new they have teething issues. So in short it sort of is fair to say 'see , this is what electric gets you'. There is nothing wrong with being an early adopter of new technology.
@@spicy110 @spicy110 Yeah that's true , but there is a big difference in the amount of generations petrol bikes have had to mature vs where electric stands now. Saying flat out no , would mean that the build quality will not improve over time which it will. Electric vehicles are the future though and someone needs to buy them. But they are currently extremely expensive for their performance , difficult to repair and not actually that practical unless your commute is tiny. I would love to see you do a nostalgic revist to your old sinnis apache and do a comparison to the zero. 🏍🤗
My point was they all go wrong. You can say it should not happen and I agree but it isn't a point to discount electrics. As you say they are new and for that reason even more so it is understandable apossed to getting a ice bike from the big 4 and them having all this time to get it right. However still new bikes get issues and need to go back to be fixed. Good news for you the new sinnis bikes are my next review bikes.
look at tesla the build quality is shocking and selling for big bucks. Zero are no doing to bad at all. not sure how long the conpany has been going for but i have very little doubts that i will own one in the future. Price and reputation will be the make or brake i definitely hope this company is up there with BMW and Honda one day.
My problem with these types of electric bikes is. Good luck finding a replacement battery in the future and when they lock software wise you from replacing parts. You are forced to have them fix it at the dealership.
It's a shame, but these things happen, to ALL vehicles. I'd like to see, someone, do a 200 (ish) mile journey,. A mix if roads, local, urban and rural, on an electric bike, to see how it manages. It's the kind of ride, ido all the time, on a petrol bike. Is it possible? What about the logistics of charging etc? A real world test...........would be interesting?! 🤔

Thank you for that video, on a separate note loving the “Twin Town” reference

ICE is Internal combustion engine.
You’re bound to get snags. Still a cool bike though bit pricey 👍
Please let us know how they fix it. Thanks!
Hi I have a zero and my speedometer went out. How do I fix it please let me know.

All manufacturers bikes have major issues / faults these days. The big question on this issue what’s the cost of repair when the warranty ends.
The whole charger unit is around £900 I think!

ua-cam.com/users/shortshktqGkNNC4I?feature=share also I do not think the fxe is part of that but yes they are doing it on the sr/f and s
lmfao "it's a fackin cobra!"
Atleast you can compare the full power now🙂

116V
We'll doing this void the Warranty just a thought
Not if the dealer tell you to do it. Besides I have no idea how they would know.
Thanks for taking the time to reply

Not all of them and hopefully all the right to repair stuff will go though, we need it to for sure.
