I would argue you get way better ones partly because anyone looking at the photo that photographer produced would be thinking of the first class idiot they are.
I've never understood why people stand so close. I think it's fair to assume that most people aren't absolute fanatics like us, so they pretty much have no idea of what they're looking at aside from just "train." All you can see when you're standing that close is the running gear. You have to be back at least 20 ft to get the whole locomotive in the frame. Standing back = Better pictures
Almost had a repeat of 2018. You can usually tell the difference between a railfan and a passerby very easily. All you gotta do is see how they act. Are they in my shot? Yes. Are they trespassing? Yes. Are they causing a potential threat to themselves or others? Yes.
I yelled at a guy to get behind a railroad crossing gate in Medicine Bow, Wyoming when Big Boy was coming through. The guy got mad at me... but it's people that do those sorts of things and end up ruining these special events for the rest of us. Follow the rules and everyone will have a good time.
She should be arrested and fined stupidity at its best.
She shouldn't have been on the track to begin with. If she stayed to the side, she wouldn't have had to worry about moving to a different spot.
I've always heard that going into emergency risks derailment, and derailment in that curve might have ended more than one life.
You can get amazing shots by a few yards on the outside of the curb AWAY from the equipment. A Darwin award in the making.

Ed has amazing patience to be able to put up with this sort of thing as regularly as he has to.
Stupid is as stupid does!!!
Noticed a lot of this while we did a recent chase for the Heartland tour
You see, it's nitwits like this that are giving the rest of us long-time, respectful railfans the unwarranted reputation we're getting. 1000% dope.

Great shot. Love to see clean cars! Caboose to boot!
This is the same line of thinking that made 844 kill someone a few years back.
exactly. And it was a woman too.

The fireman/brakeman leaning out to tell her off but she ignored him kept recording. Entitled at its finest.
She shoulda waited about 10 more seconds before she moved.
She risked her life for a vertical video... there's no cure for that
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I thought the Big Boy was doing revenue service seeing those freight cars back there...😂😂😂
Last person did that was fatally injured
What could have been a great photo set/video turned into a disconnected jumble of frames.

@SuperCookieman13 Oh, we've seen crazy stuff too! These people are everywhere.
We have a name for these people here in Australia: Gunzel.
Darwin award candidate. 😮
1.2 million pounds of locomotive vs. a human. What could possibly go wrong?😬🤷♂️
Another Darwin award
Is this the incident that prompted a safety reminder via UP's official social media accounts I saw in the last day or two?
I'm not sure.
There were some issues in East Texas, where law enforcement had to babysit the crowd to keep them away from the tracks.
Trespassing is wrong especially on Railroad tracks!
Another Genius....oy yay yay
Next to the track, on the ballast.
Correct, still trespassing
This is why we cant stand foamers!!!!
Are you out of your mind!!!!
Standing on a city sidewalk with cars and trucks feet away, not on rails, is far more dangerous in my opinion.
Culling the herd?
😡😡😡
