This is what happens when you mistake the 'Beginning' for the 'End'.
All the hard work, all the fights led up to that shot for the title. Winning that belt was just the beginning. Now was the time for the hard work to maintain it.
Partying like it was the end of his career rather than the REAL beginning was his problem.

Couldn’t cut off the ring, couldn’t get inside the jab. Tough night champ but take the experience and come back stronger and more disciplined. Respect to Joshua. Came clearly in great condition. We're talking about the generation that invented the concept of "safe space" here. When people think with that type of victim mentality, you can't think about things objectively, your victim bias will always lead you, so you just call everything your feelings don't like "hating".

I’m Mexican so I was rooting for Ruiz. But I’m just hearing excuses. He took the first fight on short notice so really didn’t have a training camp so saying he wasn’t as dedicated in camp shouldn’t be an excuse. He got outboxed and couldn’t cut the ring off. Don’t give excuses then say “no excuse”. Simple.

Brought back down to earth. Andy does make a point he took Anthony’s best punches and kept coming forward. Matter of fact is he wasn’t humbled like Anthony who literally quit. Andy got outboxed plain and simple and ultimately paid the price for not cutting off the ring and doing what he does best with a barrage of punches. I believe he is being honest when he says he only blames himself.

He didn’t take AJs best punches though because AJ was the most mobile he’s ever been in his career. In the first fight when he planted his feet, which later caused him to lose, he dropped Ruiz. AJ constantly moving around the ring combined with his quick feet meant that he can’t get as much leverage in his punches, the best boxer is able to balance out planting feet and moving around.

@Brick Bazooka I like Ruiz, he's a great dude and a dangerous fighter.... but you're mad to think that's he superior to AJ, that's just laughable. A perfect Aj beats a perfect Ruiz nine out of ten times. And he didn't "lose to the judges", he lost to an absolutely superior boxer on the night. "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". AJ was jabbing Andy's head off all night, and busted his eye open in the very first round, that cut will plague Andy in every fight for the rest of his career. I hope the guy bounces back with a good performance his next fight, but he doesn't have what it takes to beat the top heavyweights, Wilder, Fury or Joshua.

Reality hasn't set in yet with Andy. There isn't gonna be a third fight -- he hasn't earned it. He's not a Wilder or a Fury or an AJ who, facing each other, are CHAMPIONS who've been in those positions for years. Andy got a _very_ lucky break with the first fight, then squandered the opportunity it gave him. He's kinda disrespected all his supporters by showing up in this condition and performing so poorly. There won't be a third fight because it won't make big money -- his bubble is popped.

He doesn't deserve a 3rd fight. Ruiz doesn't have that champion pedigree blood running through his veins. He's too complacent and undisciplined.

You should have hit the gym as soon as you became Champion you should have had a six-month camp but you let the fame and the media take you away from training why do you think there was more videos of you on UA-cam talking about the fight and talking about being the first Mexican heavyweight champion but we saw very little of Anthony Joshua he was in Camp he was taking it serious he wanted them Bells back he got them back and look at you you sat there and told the Press you had a great Camp you were very prepared and at the end the truth comes out you didn't do your job you failed us ask our Mexican unified champion and us the Mexicans and you always listen to your training he knows what's best for you but you got into your Rebel mode you started hanging out with celebrities they started inviting you out I had sent you multiple messages way back in July to get back in the training camp in the gym fuck the media they are not the ones that are going to pay your bills look at Canelo Alvarez he stays away from the media he stays in the gym why do you think he is so successful same way for Floyd Money Mayweather he was getting paid over a hundred million dollars once he fought Manny Pacquiao but he always trained. He was broke in the fame. To your head in a way I'm glad you lost you are young you can come back but I think if you do get another chance and you win the belt the same thing is going to happen you going to interview with everybody he going to sit down with everybody you going to lose concentration it's a habit of yours and those habits are hard to break unless dedicate yourself for your children you said you didn't want to take a loss you didn't want to give up the belts you said you weren't going to Ray Anthony Joshua take food away from your children and you did exactly that you let him take food away from your children's mouth because of you being not disciplined in training and overconfident you were always saying you're not looking past your opponent you were going to take him seriously and you sold us a fucking Fairy Tail you make me want to not watch any more of your fights bro to be honest with you I'm so fucking pissed and then for you to say that you tried to train yourself why would you throw your trainer under the rug like that that's a whole bitch ass move if you want trying to make excuses why in the fuck did you say that and then you wait until 10 second bell ring at the end of the 12th round or before the end of the 12-round and you call a j out to the middle of the ring you knew you had lost but you had 12 fucking rounds to let your hands go like you said you were going to do and you didn't do anything what you said you were going to do and if all these words hurt you good because that's exactly what I want these words to do this to hurt you so that you can reflect come down from Cloud 9 and humble your fucking ass stay your ass in the fucking gym and do not take for granted any other fight weather is a championship fight or a just a fucking regular fight for no belt work your ass back up to become a mandatory the Deontay Wilder or DaVita Trilogy fight with Anthony Joshua I wish you the best but the fight was not what you said it was going to be and that is disappointing you lied to us you lied to yourself and you lied to the world and that is not fair to us because we spend our hard-earned money to pay for the fucking app to watch you fight and then for you to pull this bitch ass move and get out box and you got frustrated you couldn't even hurt him anymore he trained his ass off once he got back to his hometown until today and his fight the way that he fought reflected his hard training and the hunger for those belts to be back around his waist and now you look like a jackass you look like the weasel and now you want to be apologetic don't be apologetic to nobody keep that shit to yourself nobody wants to hear excuses broke you lied to us and that's what it is you fucking lied to us where is your fucking friends are they going to pay your bills are they going to pay your taxes he'll fuk to the no and you spend money like a son of a bitch I bet you you spent all your money from the first fight already and you probably didn't even pay your taxes and now you got to pay taxes from the first fight and then this fight you not going to have much left over to even pay the property taxes on your house you fuck your own self in the asshole

Very disappointing. I thought this guy was a proper fighter. But he handed his belts back easy as anything. He weighed 20 pounds more than he should have after a full camp. I haven't seen the fight, but apparently he didn't truly go for it, both hands flying, as in the previous fight. AJ kept it long and went on his bike for 12 rounds. The whiff of complicity is strong. Why did he put on so much weight? What's all this talk of a trilogy all of a sudden?

He's an embarrassment to the sport, he doesn't deserve to be a champion.

That's a bit much. His lack of discipline for this fight was embarrassing. an embarrassment to the sport would be Conor McGregor making his debut against Floyd Mayweather
