At 53 I have been blessed to have such a diverse choice in favorites of bands, drummers (I'm one), and bands in general. Slayer is definitely in my top 5 of thrash metal, actually was my first as far as that genre. I got into bodybuilding after High School and their music was definitely a motivating factor for me haha...35 years later I still have them in my playlist with Metallica, Seputura, Static X, Anthrax etc...I definitely would love to know they would tour but in all honesty I would be hopeful of a new album, especially if Lombardo was involved, that's my wish! 👊🏾

Tight and tweaked out the guitar solos that sounded like you know what song it was but jammed in random on the spot tweaks, you do not hear on the record. And it was amazing. Kerry especially live. is where he truly shines with his leads. They should of actually retired after jeff died but they had unresolved business issues to take care of.. therefore a new album a few tours then announcing a farewell tour. its been 4 years since they stopped. Most bands that claim retirement tours already come out around now Even so it wouldnt be the same. If you want to relive slayer in their glory find the new york city 1986 video on youtube. I can't see him forming an old school death metal influenced band, anything technical or something along the lines of classic traditional metal or doom. Or even hardcore punk for that matter. Slayer went out on top and that seems to be something Kerry can't grasp. At least not fully grasp. He's selfish. I think that's clear when he said he was "pissed" about Slayer calling it quits. Music is all he has. He's married, and as far as I know still is, but he doesn't have children, he doesn't have anything but music. He can't grasp that Tom has a family, he's married, he has children, grandchildren which I'm sure who he wants to be there for because I'm sure he wasn't there as much as he wanted for his children when they were kids. He made sacrifices when it came to family, which I'm sure wasn't easy. I get it. Then he has his neck and back issues. They must have a working relationship because Slayer still sells merchandise, but I say just let Slayer go. I saw Slayer once in 2011 at Yankee Stadium for The Big 4 Show. They blew everyone the fuck off the stage. Great show.

Throughout my years I have seen Slayer many times, and they have always been incredible. If Tom is ready to hang up his bass. Respect man. But I know Kerry wants to keep shredding so I hope he starts another band. No disrespect to any of them.

I get that Tom wants to be with his family and he has stuff going on with his personal life but at the same time, it’s never the same to not be able to see slayer at the current moment. I’ve seen slayer a quite a few times when I was younger but I didn’t take it in enough to where I am today. I would seriously say the metal community went downhill after slayers “retirement”. I think a good solution would be for slayer to play festivals or some here and there shows. They don’t have to tour but I think they at least need to play some shows to keep their spirit alive

I think if Kerry wants to play his solo stuff and pop in a few Slayer songs live I think the man has earned the right to do that. I think whoever is in his band will need to be capable of not just playing the notes and carrying the speed of the song but also convey the passion that Slayer songs typically display. I will laugh my ass all the way off if Bostaph is on drums and Holt is on guitars hahaha.

Tom Araya sounds like he has deep resentment towards Slayer.
He probably didn't make the millions that he could've made, had slayer wrote at least a couple radio hits, but they didn't want to do that, so, no retirement money.... sadly

Tom was always older by 4-5 years than everyone else and it was obvious he didn't have the energy Kerry still had in their last years. His voice wasn't as powerful as it was just 10 years before, Father Time hit Tom real hard during the World Painted Blood tour, which was one hell of an album and one of their most collaborative as a band in a long time, it would be ridiculous if Tom tried to scream like he did in 1998-2009 era Slayer, if he was allowed to sing like in the 83-94 era, maybe it could be doable, but then it would feel kind of dated, at least for Slayer, who like Metallica, had a first album that is very NWOBHM/speed metal that came out the same year but by 1984 Thrash was their lifeblood, so tuning down the aggressiveness to early 80's levels to accommodate Tom's voice, it would feel very weird.

@@robertwalker3357 that’s true. I actually thought Jon sounded more “right” in Slayer than Paul ever did. Paul’s a great player, but he’s so stiff. Still, neither of them are even close to Dave.

I didn't like seeing Slayer retire, but, at least they went out on top. Gawd, I hate seeing some bands who should give up and just keep making fools of themselves on stage. Kerry will be puting out a new solo album soon, so in a way, Slayer is still happening.
