I’ve been bowhunting and shooting 3D for 27 years, the obscene prices for bows, arrows and accessories over the last few years is crazy. I’m glad there are companies like Bear and PSE that offer a very capable and affordable bow., I’d like to shoot one. Over the last 5 years the technology has plateaued so the major manufacturers are offering mostly bells, whistles and gimmicks with a hefty price tag. Good find and nice shooting, better get that shoulder looked at it sure squeaks pretty bad 😂.
It may not be a recovery but still great content. I learn a lot from all your videos. Now i want to get into archery. Thanks for passing on your knowledge!
I just got one last Friday and It’s my first bow ever. I love it and I am getting great grouping like that as well! Plan on using it this season for my first hunt! Super stoked!
Welcome to the archery hunting community! A few items for you…. First and most important, you need to quiet that rig during the draw. It’s fine for shooting at a target, but a deer will bolt with that unnatural noise. Second is the consideration of your hunting distance. Again, an immobile target is an easy shot for you out to 50 yards, but much can change in a deer’s posture between release and the arrow traveling 50 yards. Third is make sure you practice with the broadheads you plan to hunt with. Even at the same weight as your field tips, it’s crazy how differently they may perform. Wishing you the best of luck during your upcoming archery season. Enjoy the hunt and the bonus of delicious venison to share with your family and friends.
We agree with everything you said With one minor exception The release is what’s making the noise not the bow And it’s enhanced by being super close to the mic on our shirt But we do agree and will be changing it out for a quieter one
Nice groups! I grew up using Bear equipment, good choice! I would recommend that you loosen your grip slightly on the bow, as sometimes, your grip can twist the bow as you shoot. Thanks for your content!
You can always just put some lube or jelly on the leather on any release to soften it up and it won’t make noise. Cheap ones come dry but it’s a .02$ fix.
Oh, Fred Bear, walk with me down the trails again Take me back, back where I belong Oh, Fred Bear, I'm glad to have you at my side, my friend And I'll join you in the big hunt before too long
I haven't shot a bow since some time in the 1970's, but I do know that your modern Bear is far superior to anything that was available then for any price. . I also know that Bear was around back then, so they have a history of being a respectable bow. The people who spend 4K for a bow are the same kind of people who buy a Rolex watch for the bragging rights.
I bought a legit bour 5 months ago upgraded the front bar put a side bar on Threw some limb savers on it it's a good bow & far quite than the one in the video
That is darn good shooting! Thanks for sharing the video! Unfortunately we are no allowed to hunt with a bow here in Norway, but I sure can see the use for it in some cases. Big bird hunting would be awesome with a bow like this. Best regards from Roy in the deep forests of Norway.
For the $$ you can’t beat them , we do recommend adding some serving string on the peep, few negative reviews say they had too much room and moved a bit We added serving string to ours right away to fix the issue
@@matt.mckinzie yeah im probably gonna change mine out ive hunted with an ol parker since 2005 lol this thang is Cadillac compared to my old one but ive killed several with it it has been a good one
We never said we were new But am trying to get a few other people into it And they complained about how prices So we said ok we will help and show that you don’t need an expensive set up
Ok first off, you’re a very good shot! Secondly, you’re a very very good shot. 😊 what draw weight do you have it set up at currently? My bow currently is maxed out at 55lbs and it has a lot of drop at 30 yds. I’m curious how much a difference there is between “expensive and cheap” arrows on that bow.
Hi Matt, I'd say you've got some experience, it's a great bow and the arrows are very nice too. But your form and hold make it work like a 5k setup.. is your wrist strap making the noise when you draw back?
Nice groups ! May I ask how long you are practicing archery ? And how often you are training ? I own a Hoyt Prostar Legacy 47 inch bow at 50-60 lbs. Bought it in 1994, I think. That was the time a lot of bow hunters still preferred finger shooting. I have never tried shooting with a release. Bow hunting was not for me, I was not good enough, never got my arrows grouping like you did. Please buy some broadheads, and show us how they perform with your set-up. Good hunting !
We shot lots and lots of archery back in Michigan when I was younger I have not shot a bow in 8 or so years Just picked this one up a week or so ago Getting back into it And we were going to buy another MATTHEWs But we had lots of arguments about the price of them are ridiculous and people refused to get into the sport because of it We said you do not need a big expensive bow They asked well why do you want one then I said ok I’ll order cheap ready to go bow to show you And here we are
It is not the most expensive bow that makes a good bow-hunter. The archery- and hunting-skills are making the difference. So, do not bother about a Mathews, and take this Bear bow into the woods. Would be nice to give an update when the bow-hunting--season has started. Thanks ! 🙋♂️
It amazes me as a kid I had a lil 15 lb bow with just a rizer for the rest. Miss matched arrows most hand me downs from my dad cut down for me. A quiver hanging off my ass. You don't have to spend a shit load on a Mathews. My father did he loved it but he also has better groups using my bear or my hoyt
I'm sorry, but I'm not. I want to see recoveries not what your thoughts are on bows. I dont want to see you build house all i want to see is recoveries. If you cant do that then I wont watch your channel. I watch because i like the recoveries
Very good deal.. Yes, that bow is as good as any other bow for hunting...
You ain't no beginner! Nice form. That bow should do everything you need it to.

My brother bought two Mathews for one fifty each.. (used)..
One had broken string and we already restrung it. Fantastic setups

Shooting well.
Get a quite release and relax your grip and let the bow float in the web of your hand

Watch Tim Wells with a spear, and a blowgun. Hunting is 95% man with whatever weapon. Good luck sir

You need to get that Bow quieted Down it makes too much noise when you're drawing it back
It’s the release not the bow

Excellent grouping Matt.
I just bought a new Adapt which I am going to try out. Step one: new custom strings from 60x! Keep the original for a spare and loose the rubber band!
Your microphone picking up the squeaking in your release really messed with me till I realized it wasn’t the bow lol
I bought a legit bour 5 months ago upgraded the front bar put a side bar on Threw some limb savers on it it's a good bow & far quite than the one in the video
My thought too. Great bow but if you’re going hunting with it that squeak on the draw might be a problem. How could you fix that?
I really enjoyed your video presentation, I’ve been considering a new bow without “breaking the bank” I think this will be the one:-)

Found an old bear bow in the trash when i was a garbage man. Thinking i might go get it looked at to see if i can start using it.
That sounds like a really noisy both. Had a quiet it down when you’re pulling back the arrow
You did`nt mention the release you used .How was your comfort level with that release and who makes it/

Yes the wrist strap is making the noise, it’s a cheap $20 one
And since I’m wearing a mic it makes it louder then it actually is
Can you try at 60-70 yards and 100? I’m wanting to purchase one soon as a beginner with little experience

Try a drop away arrow rest. Please.
What about the noise when you draw back it pretty loud How to silence it more??😮😮😮😮
Dry leather release is what the noise is
Love the show. How long did it take to get it sighted in.
Not long, we eye balled it close then adjusted pretty quickly
That's awesome. Robbin hood.
One week can you throw in the freaking groups like that, right?
What poundage are u shooting it at? Nice groups
70
Whats the let off on that bear bow?
You pull that back and the deer will be gone!!!😂😂😂

Is there anyway to quiet it down when you draw?
Yes
That’s just the release making the noise and louder due to a mic being right next to it

Did your buddy get a gold plated Mathew’s? $4000?
Buy a new bow and add all the accessories
