So nice to see this documentary! I did research work in the UST Archives in early August and early December of 2011, photographing (almost) all the numerous documents containing Baybayin (except for the two famous land deeds, which had been photographed by a professional German photographer and a couple of others that were photographed for Father Santamaría's 1938 article "El "Baybayin" en el Archivo de Santo Tomás" - though I did find a few others that weren't in that article). I was really surprised to see the size of the original land deeds at 10:44: I seemed to remember them as being about the size of my hand and the palm of my hand! Perhaps it was because Ricky Jose, the archivist, showed me only the high-resolution photographs but told me they were full-sized... So many of the documents with Baybayin were on paper that was thin, brittle, and falling apart. At least (even with the damage to the two land deeds) they were in better condition than some of the documents with Baybayin in the Archivo Franciscano Ibero-Oriental in Madrid:. Ricky Jose told me that some of the damage to the UST documents came from when they were kept at ground level during and after the Japanese occupation, and the archivist at the AFIO in Madrid told me that many of the archival documents had been stored in barns under straw during the Spanish Civil War; when I was doing my archival research in Spain in early 2012, following up on the list of documents in William Henry Scott's book Pre-Hispanic Source Materials for the Study of Philippine History, close to half of the documents either had huge holes rotted through them or were fused together as a result of moisture damage, probably from when they were kept under straw to avoid being burned by Republican soldiers.

Thank you for this episode of I-Witness, somehow it draws me back in time when my Grandfather's Father who migrated from China with the spoken language of Fukien dialect was his way to communicate way way back in the mid 1800's.
#iWitness

Wow!!!!!!! I want to thank miss Sandra Aguinaldo for creating and doing this research documentary of the Philippines' "Pages of History" 3 years ago.... Even if its been 3 years ago since it was aired in TV and watched it now on UA-cam, I have learned a lot and my eyes were opened much more about the history of the Philippines and I have learned also to give value and importance to our long history so that we can be more proud and honored to be a Filipino..... Thank you very much for doing this Documentary Report miss Sandra....
i love this documentary so much. we have to make a reaction paper about this but i will totally watch this over and over again because of my curiosity about history, a very informative video indeed, thank you for making this!

I love books at hanggang ngayon I'm still reading and watching everything about the Philippines- culture, arts, history music, geography, etc. That is how much, deep and wide I love our country. Kasi we are even almost lost our identity when we were colonized by foreign invaders.

USC's claims as the "oldest educational institution or school in Asia" has been a long time subject of disputes with the University of Santo Tomas which on the other hand claims to be the "oldest university in Asia"

Rizal is my favourite Filipino. He's my favorite author, and all! Waahhh, episode like this makes me so happy 😊
Buti, naingatan pa itong mga ganitong libro. Libreng time travel papunta sa nakaraan ❤️
I love books at hanggang ngayon I'm still reading and watching everything about the Philippines- culture, arts, history music, geography, etc. That is how much, deep and wide I love our country.
Kasi we are even almost lost our identity when we were colonized by foreign invaders.
