Crazy timing for the Mini 2. I just stared flying this little guy again while my new Mavic 3 Pro Refurb is in the DJI garage getting a tune up. The Mini 2 was my first drone 3 years ago and have steadily moved up. I kept this one for sentimental reasons and it just wants to fly! Thanks for sharing Dan!
It's the most practical drone ever - in good light you get shots like no others in this price range. Straight video in strong winds. Flies almost anywhere. And you don't loose a ton of money if it ever crash and burn. I just got my second one and that's the one that always goes with me, even though I have more advanced and expensive ones. 😎👌
Well done Dan!; great to see you do the retrospective review on this amazing piece of kit! ; I would add to the commentary, the actual design of the Mini / Mini SE / Mini 2 is superb, they look great in the air (and hovering in the kitchen !!!); you also mentioned the second hand market; would be great to see you do a "what to look for" post when it comes to buying off Market Place / Gumtree etc; if prospective S/H buyers had a guide (particularly with the Fly App) any issues could be identified fairly quickly (Aircraft Status); many thanks again for sharing!
My first drone was the DJU Mini 2, i owned it for about 18 months and loved flying it everywhere, though i kept wanting more flight time and better low light performance, so i finally upgraded to the "standard" DJI Mini 3 and happy i made the upgrade, the only downside to the Mini 3 is that it feels very flimsy/fragile, like it has thin plastic compared to the more robust Mini 2.

Got my mini 2 off facebook market place last year in September. I initially had gotten it cause it I needed a drone for my UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) class video projects for College and works phenomonal. My only complaint is that it shoots 4k at 30 and not 60fps and it was the Costco bundle. I have gotten many upgrades since, starting with a prop guard, better case, then a 2x battery and recharger combo off amazon for 150, and just recently a pack of ND filters. All said and done can't really complain about what I got considering I've paid about 400 for essentially a fly more combo for mini 2. The biggest upgrade was definitely the charging pack and 2 extra batteries, without the recharger you must charge each battery individually inside the drone which I was not a fan of. I'm considering getting into fpv next but not sure if I want to go with DJI again or go for a Nazgul drone. Also I can't belive the Avata 2 is coming out soon any thoughts on that?

Have still got the original mini se . Sits in it's very well made mini storage case most of the time now but works flawlessly whenever taken out to be used. Three things worth mentioning ..... 1. Outstanding value and solid in performanance. 2. I always thought images were washed out however with an oled tv it turns out the imagery is outstanding for 2.7 k and always was. 3. The controller has turned out handy since having a stroke , as the sticks require more pressure to move , helping prevent unwanted movement in a hand with some disfunction. Is the mini 2 still worth it ? if it's like the old mini se , YES.
Honestly, still a solid drone even today if you don't need all the motion sensors and smart features - the best built overall portable drone that is solidly built and looks the best in the mini range in my opinion - plus love the front light bar!
@@DansTubeTV I was able to pick up a unused Mini 2 for less than $150 including the Flymore Combo - in terms of looks, design and build quality - I reckon the Mini 2 is the sweet spot. I have owned all Mini variances including the latest Mini 4 Pro and it's also good but the build quality is certainly not as good! DJI can easily release another firmware update to give it Auto Track.
I bought a mini 2 a couple of months ago, 2nd hand with a very short flying hours time. Fly more combo for £225. It’s a very capable little drone with great footage. One question though… do I need to insert a SIM card to do the quickshots ? I just record straight to my phone but it wouldn’t do any quickshots I tried. Dan, uk 🇬🇧

I would suggest looking on Facebook Marketplace to see what other people are selling it for. You might be able to find some prices on Amazon and eBay as well.
I have a Mini 2 with a broken gimbal, wouldn't get the replacement part in time for an event I had today, so I ended up getting another drone, a Mini 2 SE. No 4K, only 2.7K I think, but good enough for me, and it was only $260. Once my new gimbal comes in for my my Mini 2, I'll have the Mini 2 SE as a backup drone. Next up, I'm gonna get the Smart Controller so I don't have to use my phone with the RCN1 controller.
I really liked the mini 2's size factor it fits into your pocket, thats not true for mini 3 and 4 pro. DJI should have put more effort in making new variations of this drone with an upgraded camera and battery, and motors in the same shape
I most definitely haven't forgotten the Mini 2 😉 That's the drone, I own, fly and make all my videos with to this day (the first many was made with my Mavic Mini - Also a great little drone, but the Mini 2 was a huge update in several ways). I absolutely love it, and I haven't got plans to shift anytime soon (though the Mini 4 Pro would be nice with its 360° obstacle avoidance sensors on my motorcycle videos). Gr8 video. I just got one on Offerup - Idk if the kid was stupid or what. $200 for Mini 2 with the Fly More package, extra Pitstop carry case total of 4 batteries, 3x 128gb cards...8 packs of propellers. All works great, there is a tiny crack on the top case but for the price I can't complain.
This drone is the best for the quality and performance. If we are going to talk about the high tear then I will say DJI Mavic 3 is going to win. You can guys start with Bwine F7 mini for it is a $200 drone but has a good stability too. Second Drone you should have to try the Dji mini 2(This Video),it has a hundred percent of stability,quality and performance. If you are professional photographer etc you would like to do with it the Mavic 3. And you don't need to use your phono screen,the remote control has its own screen. Your choice and budget.
For the price they r well worth it. Only down side is wind. I have bought many 4100 mah batteries for 100 bucks off aliexpress thay give me 60 minutes and 6 miles of flight 1 way and 6 miles back. They r the easiest drone to mod dji makes. Like I said only wind bugs them. I do tons of range test and it's the furthest mini drone I've took out. I got mine in 2021 and still fly it all the time. But now I got a air 3 on the way and I think the mini 2 will accumulate some dust. If I do sell mine I would have to have a grand for it. But it's way better then factory

It can do so many things with third party and mods I can see what you mean by "forgotten".... replacing the mini SE made sense but the mi ni 2 se being a successor to this? @@mattplaygamez I’m from Italy, I think I paid less than normal because the European Agency changed some laws that would have made the Mini 2 useless so many people gave it away, now DJI has adapted to the laws so I’m perfectly fine
Mine just decided it wanted to become a submarine this afternoon. Just launched it into the air. Took my eyes off it for one second to look at the phone screen, looked up again and it had disappeared. So I'm assuming it went into the sea. Pressed return to Home and waited over half an hour to see if it returned. No joy. I assume the batteries on the later versions are a different size? I hadn't thought of second hand, I must look around. I had less than 10 flights on it too. First time I had taken it for a flight in months.

Yeah, that is interesting. I guess that they have to keep the weight down. The Mini 4 Pro feels a lot more premium.

Good question, if you can get a good deal on the Mini 2 then I would suggest that drone for the third party app functionality.

I think that all of the mini drones from DJI are pocket sized. I do like the Mini 2 though and would like to see more with a similar form factor.

DJI mini 2 is still expensive for its age I find it for 400-600 euros. Then it'd better to do the mini 3 or mini 3 pro

@@mattplaygamez I’m from Italy, I think I paid less than normal because the European Agency changed some laws that would have made the Mini 2 useless so many people gave it away, now DJI has adapted to the laws so I’m perfectly fine

Mine just decided it wanted to become a submarine this afternoon.
Just launched it into the air. Took my eyes off it for one second to look at the phone screen, looked up again and it had disappeared.
So I'm assuming it went into the sea.
Pressed return to Home and waited over half an hour to see if it returned. No joy.
I assume the batteries on the later versions are a different size?
I hadn't thought of second hand, I must look around.
I had less than 10 flights on it too. First time I had taken it for a flight in months.
