Essentially throwing off every social and cultural illusion he has ever been brought up with, understanding the need to go back to earth, doing his best to protect Eve and Walle, then full on fucking wrestling a damn computer for control of his ship Awesome!

I see a lot of hate towards Auto. But I'm gonna argue on his behalf. First, he was only following his command. A command which overruled all other previous orders, including all the captains. Second, he truly thought that staying in space is better for the humanity. When people go back to Earth, it won't be pleasant. Sure, Earth can sustain life, but the sheer amount of work needed to do that would be ridiculous. Not to mention time. Real farming isn't as easy as "plant seed and put some water." It needs a lot of complicated science to keep it going (there's a lot of dust storm in the future Earth, that will pretty much ruin the field instantly). And there's the fact that the plant only survived because it wasn't exposed to the harsh atmosphere, since it was kept in a refrigerator.

AUTO is just the method to acquire the goal.

Since Wall-E is a robot, he is a character that can never truly "die" because he can always be fixed. The excuse given about him is that because his AI developed a personality, and that was labeled as an anomaly in his programming, if that is lost along with his destruction, and not retained/backed-up, then technically the "person" that was Wall-E is lost. Clever way to get around the usual "robot characters don't die" cliché.

The thing was, Auto wasn't a bad guy nor was his goal malicious, he just wanted to protect humanity from itself. He knew damn well life wouldn't be sustainable on earth and a little green vine is barely enough proof to convince him otherwise. The toxic air would kill the humans not long after they leave the ship (this is realistically speaking instead of what actually happened) so to call Auto evil isnt fair. It seemed like he wanted full control but why would he want what he already have? Better yet, why would he want? He's an AI, they don't know what wanting is. He was just following his programming all along and knew earth was a lost cause and its no place for humanity

Guys, he is not actually dead i watched the movie. What happens is that Wall-E loses his memory and eva got sad and they touched foreheads/kissed then wall-e memory was brought back. DONT BE SAD WALL-E IS OK!

The thing was, Auto wasn't a bad guy nor was his goal malicious, he just wanted to protect humanity from itself. He knew damn well life wouldn't be sustainable on earth and a little green vine is barely enough proof to convince him otherwise. The toxic air would kill the humans not long after they leave the ship (this is realistically speaking instead of what actually happened) so to call Auto evil isnt fair. It seemed like he wanted full control but why would he want what he already have? Better yet, why would he want? He's an AI, they don't know what wanting is. He was just following his programming all along and knew earth was a lost cause and its no place for humanity

It’s honestly crazy how the antagonistic force of this film actually cripples, then kills the protagonist of the movie, to the point where WALL·E’s gf and friends need to save the day. I’ve honestly never seen that kind of evil do that to the hero, let alone in a Pixar film.
My heart stopped when he got crushed, no joke. I felt like crying!
This brings back memories! I used to watch this a lot back in my childhood. I’ll never forget this movie!
