Being in National Team list has nothing to do with spots for Euro, Wordls and Olympics. It means receiving extra financial funding during the season (costumes, choreographer, travel, some grants for you and your coach). The spots for international competition are decided by Nationals and other competition, not just being on the list. Russian dance team will skate to Rachmaninov. (Miranda Priestly says "groundbreaking.") I now love Jonathan even more given our shared views on Bocelli.
Just for the record: "Khromitch" is not the correct pronunciation of Maya's surname. In "Khromykh" that "kh" at the end (and beginning btw) denote the same sound as the first sound of the word "house". But even going similar to the word "sheikh" would be closer to how her surname sounds.
My vote/guess for the ladies' team: Bradie, Karen, and Mariah (assuming we get three spots). That being said, I haven't seen Alyssa skate since Nationals so who knows. I know she's been USFS's darling but I think she just needs more time. As an aside, I actually think if there were one more year before the Olympics, Gracie could legit enter the conversation.
Alysa will be on the team. The other three will fight it out. Karen has an advantage, having come in 4th at Worlds. But the Grand Prix and Nationals will decide who goes. I don't think Amber will be part of the conversation.
Just for fun, and between AARP meetings, if a Sasha or Michelle went all-in to prep for US nationals this season what placement range could they realistically achieve against this current Team USA crop?
I don't think Michelle could come anywhere near her old form. Her hip injury obviously did her in permanently. If someone magically gave Sasha the will to train all-in, she could probably do pretty well. But she wasn't able to do better than 4th in 2010, as I recall. Bradie, Alysa and Mariah have consistent triple-triples and Karen has one, too, but it's iffy. But Sasha would score the best in presentation and her spins would score high, too. I'd put her in fourth, maybe even in third.

I hate to say this but perhaps Eteri was right when saying to Evgenia, that she should retire after the Olympics. I think it’s virtually impossible in this era to make it to multiple Olympics and be in medal contention for woman. She has a big name in russia, and huge following. Where else could u build your career (skating or not) better than in your home country
Balanciaga don’t hook up with personal sponsorships with non fashion celebrities. They might let people wear their stuff but not sponsor. Gucci does not never someone that young. Maybe Miu Miu?

@@chocolateperfume752 Plus she just played herself in a new TV show that is being shot right now. It is called "The Last Axel" or something. As far as I heard it's a project of Channel 1, they might even sell it to Netflix after they air (it has been done before with Channel 1 tv shows).
isn’t sasha sponsored by adidas?

There needs to be success in the ladies’ field before any boom happens again in american skating. Success in the other disciplines alone won’t be enough.

Mexico already has an Olympic commentator since 2006. Marisol Paiz (from Cafecito con Masha) had commentated every Olympics since then. I’m guessing you were talking about here (since she’s the only one doing videos also...). So, may be you should know before talking, she “doesn’t also want to commentate Olympics for Mexican tv” 😂😂😂, she’s actually an Olympic commentator for Mexican tv and has worked for 3 different tv channels.
True. Agh this guys... Really, they’re jealous about her job. And now being friends with AC, well... Just because she said she wants to commentate Olympics they think she got the job 😂😂😂😂. Obviously the tv channel with Olympic rights will choose the person who is working with them now, aka Masha, because of the experience on past Olympics and because she’s their current analyst. It’s so obvious. This snakes don’t have any idea because of course, they don’t know anything. They just know how to gossip. But no idea of how a real job works 😂 Let them keep saying dumb things. There is growing momentum to boycott Beijing on both sides of aisle. 👍👍👍. I hope they do for the sake of the all minorities being ethnically cleansed in China and Hong Kong.
By the way, Elizaveta Nugumanova from Rukavitsen team (Reserve) gets A LOT of sponsorships. The majority of them are small but one of them is from Mercedes! I think partly it is because she made a team and she is really into TikTok (

What does being on “reserve” mean? What will Aliona get out of that? If she proves herself and starts to win competitions this coming season does that mean she has a chance for Olympics
Being in National Team list has nothing to do with spots for Euro, Wordls and Olympics. It means receiving extra financial funding during the season (costumes, choreographer, travel, some grants for you and your coach).
The spots for international competition are decided by Nationals and other competition, not just being on the list.
If you are not in the list but you skate better and you are in good condition by the time of the Olympics you would go there of course
@@LostGirlLostGirl Thank you for taking the time to explain, makes sense to me now and other I’m sure. I wonder how this season will turn out. I cannot wait to find out what programs the girls decide to go with as I’m sure the pressure will be on to choose the perfect music and costumes.

Wonder what Lubov thinks about Meagan skating with Dylan.
Listening to Dave talk about the lack of depth, and the effect of the recession on Learn to skate, and the potential of a great showing in Beijing for Us skating-... he's freaking like really smart. For real his logistical thought process potential is basically liminal. I stan.

Now that Plush is out of the game, you need a new intro for the Olympics
Edit: Personally I think Usachova shouldn't be on the main team. She's been super consistent, but she's the only one without an ultra-c element. Maybe she'll get the 3A
I don't think that's got anything to do with her being on the main team. She's proved that u could compete without ultra c elements, she's super consistent and an extremely well rounded skater

Gracie hasn’t improved since 2016 🤮🤮🤮.
If Alyssa improves, who do you think would she replace from the Team?
@@MrsLeila92 Good question. I have to say Karen, despite her strong showing this year, because overall she is the least consistent.
Alysa will be on the team. The other three will fight it out. Karen has an advantage, having come in 4th at Worlds. But the Grand Prix and Nationals will decide who goes. I don't think Amber will be part of the conversation.
@@skatefan9495 the last time I saw Alyssa skate she looked aweful and could barely land a double axel
What is the beef between USFS and Ashley Wagner?
They left her off the 2018 Olympic Team and she was vocal in saying she felt wronged by the judges.
Just for fun, and between AARP meetings, if a Sasha or Michelle went all-in to prep for US nationals this season what placement range could they realistically achieve against this current Team USA crop?
Third for me
@@saboriana would be fun to watch.
@@skatefan9495 sounds about right. Some diehards said 1 or 2. Skeptics said not in the top 25. But around 4-7 seems possible. Give Sasha Kristi’s work ethic for 9 months and see what happens.

I love Alena Kostornaia tremendously a few years back. She was a rear gem being so graceful and powerful at the same time with great speed on the ice. But don't know why her skating appears to have declined recently. She's just not up to par with the rest of Eteri girls.

So her issues are coach's faults?
I hate to say this but perhaps Eteri was right when saying to Evgenia, that she should retire after the Olympics. I think it’s virtually impossible in this era to make it to multiple Olympics and be in medal contention for woman. Puberty, injuries, motivation, increase in difficulty. 15-16 years seems to be the peak competitive years.
I agree... and, I hate to admit it too
Best Medvedeva programs were after Olimpics. She had 2 years in big sport and bronze medal WC thanks to Brian Orser 💐
@@lutfiyetunc Exactly. I value all those older skaters who make podium because they Continuously disprove this evil practice of abusing teen girls for sport.
@@ask_Katherine I actually think her skating was much more enjoyable during her first few senior seasons with eteri. The Brian programs really didn’t do it for me (her eteri programs were ridiculous and tacky but at least they drew you in) and her spins degraded to the point of parody. She said herself that she wasn’t a very talented skater and needed to work very hard to keep up to the standard she had set for herself, and she wasn’t able to motivate herself to train properly in Toronto... I appreciate what Brian tried to do but I think he realised by the end that she was a lost cause
@@lutfiyetunc Elizabeta is the exception, not the rule,,,,unfortunately. Once a girl starts to develop, the jumps become much more difficult.
I really wanted Aleona Kostornaia to have made the team. But I understand. She left and "disrespected" eteri. So there will be consequences.
She didn't participate in a lot of competitions, it's almost like she basically didn't compete this season, not to mention of course not achieving any valuable results. @@benbailey159bb that's scary. Medvedeva has to change her technique if she wants her body to survive. She cannot use the current style with throw jumps.
@@Jeremy-wp4yh yeah I can't imagine her being able to do the throws
@@benbailey159bb I've seen the posts. It was mostly lifts that she was doing.
Based on the gold Olympic pair of 2018. Those throws have to be high with solid landings. Evgenia can barely do that on her own. I can't imagine the impact on her legs.
@@Jeremy-wp4yh also, pairs girls don’t have great jumps in general but most have a much better triple Sal and Toe than Zhenya, now imagine Zhenya trying to synch her wobbly underrotated toe with a partner? The stuff of nightmares
@@S80-r1o I didn't even think about that. You have to be in sync with your partner. So if she tries eteri's technique with side by side jumps. The result will be horrible. 🙈

Well she definitely achieved a lot, but everyone would've loved to see her improve even more as a skater, she's greatly missed. On the other hand, I think it's understandable for someone like her or zhenya, who aren't from the "quad generation" to retire, since it's extremely hard for them to learn and keep a quad at this age
Wan't yuzu doing watches for a while? Skaters promoting non-sport related products doesn't seem that groundbreaking
It isn't groundbreaking, but it points to a level of reach and fame that many skaters don't have at the present moment. Yuzu is unique in that area.
The difference is that Hanyu promotes luxury brands because he is that famous and marketable. His limited edition watches that cost more than 1000€ were sold within seconds (!). No joke.

Daniil is a perfect choreographer, you can't made that much of well choreographed program for every tons of skaters they have without having a seizure after arranging it.
