Netflix really should make a documentary about Sambo 70, they could film over the summer/fall all the way up till Rusnats and release in January 2022--- it would be so big
If the Grand Prix happens normally this year, now that Trusova is back, there’s a chance Eteri could take all 6 spots at the Grand Prix final. Just take a moment to process that ladies and gentlemen... 😳
@@sophielorraine6519 There is a limitation on how many spots each country can have at each Grand Prix (maximum of three skaters/teams in each discipline), but the Final has no nationality quotas, it's solely based on placements. Whether Russia can take all six spots in the coming ladies GPF will depend a lot on what the skaters' distributions are.
@@mustyfan1584 but only top 25 of female skaters in the World standing list will have 2 spots and Junior Worlds did not happen. I'm not sure Maiia and Daria could have two spots.
Biggest battle is gonna be Grand Prix final where it’ll likely be all 6 eteri girls going head to head in an ISU competition...god I can’t wait for this season
I hope that Japanese and Korean athletes, as well as US Alisa would be able to offer serious competition, for the sake of FS, but personally my heart is with Russian girls, as currently they are the only ones who can revive the world wide women’s FS. Even if they will be competing for other countries after the OG. Perhaps, then other countries would wake up and start supporting the sport. If we didn’t have Etery and the suite of these extraordinary young ladies, nobody in Russia would be following the FS anymore. But now even other disciplines, as Pairs, men’s is getting more and more attention. Men are mostly successfully trained by St. Petersburg schools-Mishin and Rukovitsev, and Etery is unlike to show some fast track results in this discipline. And I believe, half of Russian fans just love Udzury and Chen, because they are unsurpassed and real stars! I am hoping, that Etery knows what she is doing with the Pairs, if I guessed her motives right. We will see. But even if nothing happens here, I admire her for reaching out somewhere where nobody in Russia and the world dared to. Ok, there are occasional hiccups, she may have some flaws in communication, but she sincerely loves all her athletes and FS.
Didn’t Sasha do a clean long at nationals? How much do we think this decision is between Trusova’s father and the RusFed? I hope Sasha is happy, not even 17 yet and she has a whole lot of life ahead of her! Not gonna lie, ladies Russian nationals is going to be more competitive than the Olympics 🤦♀️🤷♀️ and I am here for it 🍵🤣
As far as I know, sasha's parents decide almost everything for her (related to her sports career) specifically her father and especially when it comes to her training
In hindsight, Sasha doing clean long at Nationals while injured was the worst thing that happened to her. See, she (and her team) probably thought “If I can do 2 Quads while injured, I can do five!” when if she did five and failed, maybe they would’ve got the idea that they need to lower her layout difficulty.
@@SamKreinberg , Sasha left Eteri last season (and went to Plushenko)because Eteri didn't let her to do 5 quadruples in one program ( it was Sasha's explanation in many interviews). Plushy let her to do 5 quadruples at World cup (Lp).
Apparently sasha never planned on staying with plushenko. Looks like they were waiting for the contract to end. Some folks at the academy weren't really surprised when she left, plush on the other hand didn't expect that
@@Nightsky100 ikr, everyone called him crazy. Even plushenko made fun of him and called it april 1st joke....I feel bad for him at this point, his supposed "stars" really screwed him over 🤣
@@chocolateperfume752 the whole situation is weird. But I do not believe it was entirely Sasha's or her parents decision. Her parents are just used as scapegoat to cover everything.
I just really hope that now she will listen to Eteri and do less quads, or at least step by step how they did with Kamila, first clean program with 2 quads, then 2 quads and a trixel, then added salchow, of course not from the first trial it was clean but step by step they have reached it. Hope to see smth like that with Sasha 🙏
It’s gonna be difficult because Sasha did 2 quad lutz in a clean program and a clean sp in one of the russian cups and didn’t score as high as she’d liked so she mentioned that she would definitely attempt more than 2 quads after that
ahhhhh finally!!! Been looking forward to this since the news dropped. The tea is BOILING. Excited af!!!!! Excited that Trusovas olympic chances have improved greatly now
The whole ordeal screams RusFed, next season will be a _bloodbath_ and I hope they will find a second choreographer for Team Tutberidze or at least get Averbukh on the job because Dani G should not be left alone to create like 16 potential Olympic programs 😪
I want Kostornaia and Valieva to get Averbukh programs! Valieva probably keeps Bolero unfortunately, but maybe there is hope for Alyona to get an iconic Averbukh free skate like Kolyada this season
Funniest part is the lack of self awareness from Plush who had to mention Aliona doing interviews, all while Sasha was sent on an embarrassing media tour for a 3rd place finish and did more press than Liza and Anna combined. You know when those were planned they thought she'd come back world champion. That or mentioning Sasha wouldn't be on probation. Congrats, you didn't quite screw up her career as much as your last promising student. Yana is a mess and Eteri completely won here. AoP is a joke.
I don't think Sasha is on probation though unlike Aliona because she still left cleanly unlike Aliona, and much as I like Aliona, Sasha is still more of an asset to Eteri because of the amount of quads she has the ability to do and wants to perform in competition. The chances of her landing them are like so low and her PCs don't help her, but the chance for her to land them is still there, and if she does land all 5/more of them cleanly, she will win (possibly losing against kamila) but others she will beat and it’s not even be a competition.
@@Bella-po8vh Well, yeah her not being on probation has zero to do with Plush and more to do with her being able to do most of the jumps she left Eteri with while Aliona lost the one jump she really needed.
“Ballerinas have zero chill” as a ballerina I have to say that it is true 🤣 but they can really hurt their ankles, feet and knees when they go on pointe like that. And I’m saying it as someone who has had an ankle injury just because I didn’t work through my foot properly on one step, just once, and I was down on the floor crying 🤷🏻♀️
It's sad that Alexandra didn't get recognition for the improvement in the maturity of her skating style. The change in couches is a calculated move in order to have a fair chance of making the podium at the 2022 Olympics. Eteri has more influence.
@Almira Izumchensky Perhaps shows not too much of him as a coach, but gives some insight of him as a person-a bit childish reaction when someone hurts your feelings, you want to fight back
@Almira Izumchensky oh I’m pretty sure she wrote the whole thing! Plushenko was just sitting next to her and nodding. He’s not the one who wears pants in that family
Plushenko had Trusova do a quad at in the warm up at the Worlds SP to psych out the other skaters like Surya psyched out Midori in Albertville but didn’t think about Trusova over rotating her triple as a result.
Maya Khromykh said in an interview today that she is currently working on 3A. Apparently, we will soon have a generation of skaters jumping quads with 3A.
Rafa never confirmed that Trusova is going to train with him. There was an interview with him and Kononov, where he praised Plush for his school and coaches and at the same time he said to train any athlete from Russia that athlete will have to move to the USA, pay for accommodation etc, as Rafa won’t be moving to Russia. In that interview he also hinted on that there was a chance earlier that trusova might have moved to the USA to train for him, but the RusFed must support this transition etc. So altogether it gave an impression that trusova’s parents couldn’t afford such a move on their own. So, it looks like plush used Rafa’s image as his last resort to keep Papa Trusov happy.
The cost of training in the US would be exponentially higher compared to staying in Russia, and Raf’s rink is located in a particularly expensive area.
If rus fed would not take as much of their price money she may have had enough to pay him. But why would federation be interested in it? They rather let them all train with Tutberidze and they will get max amount of money (someone will win and they don't care who it will be). P.s. I guess even paying for training with Plushenko did cost them more than with Tutberidze. So Trusova is back
@@MsRumex , they don’t pay to train with Eteri, because she works at the public school and these athletes are a part of Team Russia, so they are sponsored by the gov. Similarly, when training at plush, she would get all her expenses covered by rusfed same as plush, because he was her coach and it was prestigious. Now he doesn’t have an athlete who is a part of team Russia, so a downgrade for him. At least for now.
I'm the most impressed with Benoît is that his choreographies let the not exactly musical skaters to pretty much never miss hitting the big moments in the music.
Damn teamtut's never had their hands THIS full. I do hope they'll manage it all. Honestly they took some risks, accepting back quite a few skaters, they're basically overcrowded at the moment. And if they don't manage them all, it's their reputation on the line
@@mollyoirsghois well, he's their only choreographer. He's probably gonna choreograph most of it. They might call up averbukh, and eteri could take a part in it too. Who knows, but I hope they do AT LEAST that!
Your discussion about music majors was hilarious! We don't leave our practice room because if we do, someone will take them over for the day and we all have our favorites. Just ask a piano major how they feel about vocalists and other instrumentalists "Stealing" their piano rooms. At my Conservatory they actually locked us out from 12:00am-6:00am to stop people from living there.
Jason Brown said in an interview that they added and made his schindler's list better but worlds was canceled so nobody saw the program after the changes and he said he couldn’t help but feel like it didn’t reach its full potential. It was the on ice perspectives interview.
I wouldn't call Gleb's father a prominent Russian actor, but he's quite popular due to one of the sitcoms from the early 2010s. His name is Boris Smolkin, one can google him easily. He is in his early 70s, btw.
I don't think any Kwan fans are mad about Satoko using Lyra Angelica for the SP. If there is one skater in the field who can do it justice, hands down, it's Satoko. She understands movement and has that ethereal quality to make it beautiful. And to have Buttle choreographing it, as a Kwan-uber, you know it's going to be a heartfelt homage to the Kween. I'm thrilled about it. Now if Dani G. were to slap this music on someone, I'd be livid 😡😡😡
Clearly, TSL is struggling with cultural awareness. Maybe they don’t know that the greeting is met with a response. Maybe they thought saying the first part is some kind of joke shouted to make one feel exotic or on trend. This heartfelt, ancient greeting is an expression of faith, humility, and reverence amongst Orthodox Christians. One says "Hristos Voskrese!" Christ is Risen! The other responds "Voistinu Voskrese!” Indeed, He is Risen! Bless your hearts. You try.
With their opening comments, TSL is showing how culturally insensitive they are and how they are appropriating both culturally and religiously and NOT appreciating other people’s religious and cultural backgrounds. If these comments were directed towards any other religion or ethnic group they would no longer be allowed to be on UA-cam. Shame on them and on UA-cam for allowing this inappropriate behavior.
Did y'all here that Plushenko took Elizaveta Beretovskaya. It seems like the federation wants him to build his own skaters from scratch. So Eteri's girls leave but he can take the Juniors.
Berestovskaya isn't really scratch. And really no one asked her to leave Davydov who's a good coach actually. She just didn't expect Trusova return. Now there's no spot for her with Tutberidze. This will be one fast return to her coach with tears of shame.
She failed to attend Eteri because the team will be very busy for Olympics. So they dont prioritize junior skaters for next season. If Liza and Eteri actually have a match, she could return next season after olympics.
Kostornaia has momentum and is progressing exceptionally well. If she manages to regain her form - Watch out! Kosto's skating skills and artistry are superior to Kamila's. Aliona oozes artistic maturity, elegance, finesse, and her jumps are good. If she is able to regain her 3A stable and learn a quad, Kamila will have serious competition. it will be interesting to see their SP showdown...
The chances of Aliona (or any skater) debuting a quad successfully in an Olympic season are low. We’re not in the 2019-20 season any longer, her PCS advantage is gone. Kamila has 3A and now two quads and Aliona is not much of a threat to her at this point.
Couldn't agree more! Even without Ultra-C elements it's hard to take your eyes off her when she skates. She is just such a natural. Kamila is very strong athlete and beautiful artist but Alyona has innate charisma
Alyona already restored her triple axel ( at Eteri's show '' Champion on ice''). It was 100% fully rotated with little problem with the landing/ step out,....There is a videos of it.
Plushenko is teaching a masterclass for retired skaters who want to pursue a career in coaching! He's basically hitting all the "DON'Ts" in spectacular fashion. It's so embarrassing, no other skater will dare to try. I imagine it's hard for a very successful skater to just join someone else's coaching team when they're stars in their own right. But there are ways. Like Jonathan said, a collaboration with Mishin could have been a good step. It's what Scott Moir is doing, isn't it? Scott has his own school, but under the guidance of MF and Patch. Javi doesn't have that option, and Javi is not trying to grow elite skaters either, nor trying to be anyone's head coach but mostly promote skating, but Tracy and Brian have been to Spain a lot for teaching, and I bet they support him as well. Brian and Tracy had each other, and probably also Doug Leigh. We like Aljona too much to ever doubt she can do anything, but her first attempt as a coach was also solo and as an elite coach, and it also didn't go all that well. So yeah, I think it's probably a good set up for success, to transition from skater to coach, to have an experienced mentor or at least a strong sounding board. And as much as Yana seems like a great partner to have, she's not that.
American fans: we care about the process of training being safe for all athletes Also Americans: turned a blind eye to the Karolyi Ranch even when gymnasts were being openly critical of the "training", especially once the Nassar issue rose to the surface. It was only once Queen Simone said it needed to be shut down that it was shut down.
That proves Plush is a fake coach. If he wanted to be a great coach - he would take a junior BOY - Russia has literally EMPTY field in men's skating. But he wanted to shine like a "STAR COACH", like "GOAT", sitting in K&C at the Olympics... and having get that all by luring ready-made skaters and coaches. EPIC FAIL.
Unrelated but I notice Kostornia doing a lot of solo triple sals in her exhibition, and I am REALLY hoping that its a sign that shes seriously preparing for a quad sal?
Who cares about Kostornia, she's an emotional mess who lacks self motivation. At least we saw that Trusova is a fighter, Kostornia does not have the spirit. I think this is terrible mistake made by Trusova's parents/Russian Fed. I don't think Kostornaia nor Trusova are going to make the olympic team. I think the olympic team will be Anna S, Kamila K and Daria or Liza.
Interesting comparison. In my head, Kamila is Maddie for sure. Aliona would be Chloe who Abby hates but the fans love. Alina is Brooke who’s older and kinda doesn’t wanna be training anymore. Anna is brynn, Sasha is Nia with the cool tricks, Maia is Paige, daria is Kendall 😂
@@TheSkatingLesson Eteri should make a series just like Dance Moms. She has the tools and the talents to pull it off. Show the drama between girls etc.

Gleb Smolkin’s dad played in the Russian remake of the “Nanny” tv show that was popular in America. That’s how majority of people know him. However, he’s mostly a brilliant theatre actor. You have the opportunity to attend the Russian Championship at the end of 2021. It can be a great new year trip to the decorated St. Petersburg, and tickets for the championship will pretty cheap similar with eu costs. Also, within a year, the Russian government plans to simplify the period for issuing electronic visas to several days, and flying tickets pretty cheap from Europe to Saint-Petersburg.
@@simplyvanessa9419 Personally speaking, I would rather win gold medals and be a champion with quick results and retire at a younger age than continue competing and not achieving grand status and be a mediocre competitor for life. @@jacquelineblance4861 Do you realize that in that case your body will probably have a lot on injuries that won’t go away.... You have to live with those injuries for the rest of your life... You should do this Eteri skater list every week! Or once a month. I’m interested to see who moves up and down on the list. It’s so hard to tell because of the sheer power in that rink right now. Eteri started this past season with one senior and now will have six top girls in the Olympic season. It’s madness! I can’t wait to see what happens.

Voistinu Voskrese 😘😘😘 Trusova's return wasn't a surprise, it was coming since the rumours were like circling for months. I read it, lol'ed and moved on with my life. However, I was more worried when I saw Boikova and Kozlovsky announce a live stream to share some news... I kid you not, my heart rate did go up. Also because I was late to it. Also because the rumours about them possibly going to Mozer completely were off my radar... So the relief of knowing that they not moving to a different coach was like "thank God!!!". P.S. Dudakov should be knows as "Father Sergei" in my opinion cos he is sweet, shy, supporting but with a good humor, meaning hilarious dad jokes 🤣
OMG!!! This is so outstanding!! The Sonja Henie reference was gold!! The voice major/singing lessons really made me happy for reasons I may share one day. (my daughter was a Tessie, not an Annie) This episode is just full of information and entertainment. The squirrel vase is my favorite. Only if you portray Pinocchio, would I expect to see you skating in shorts, Dave! Why was Rafa dragged into all this with Sasha? I stand by my opinion that nobody but Jason Brown or Yulia Lipnitskaya should ever skate to Shindler's List. It is tricky and they both had just the right "take". Who knew Trusova going back to Sambo 70 would rival Josh Duggar's arrest in the UA-cam world? Thank you Dave and Jonathan for another outstanding episode!
Gleb Smolkin's dad is pretty famous indeed, he had a fan-favourite role of the butler in the Russian remake of the Nanny, along with a bunch of esteemed film parts as well.

Whatever happens at the next OG, I want the ISU to sit down and have an honest discussion about where the sport is going. I find it sad that we are now in an age of one-hit-wonders. What about skaters having time to grow and find their voice? I remember a time when skaters had "phases" and "tried new styles". We remember only the most iconic performances, but interspersed in those iconic performances were skaters trying different things and growing artistically. Yuna did Die Fledermaus, Mao did the Csardas. Do we not want these skaters to grow just like we grow in our professions? By having time to develop with and through their skating? Why prioritise the annual jumper over the well-seasoned performer? I wouldn't pay to see a show that ONLY featured Alina, but I would go to a show that ONLY featured Yuna, or Carolina, or Michelle. It just makes me sad that we are ok with this. We might never again have an athlete capable of competing at two OG and being competitive for a medal, but maybe I'm just hangry..! Also, happy Easter to all my Greek (and other) Orthodox brothers and sisters and others!
@@МаринаФейнман Don't you want to see Alina, a beautiful talented skater who has matured tremendously since her Olympic Gold, try and defend the medal at another Olympics? It is a waste for athletes like her to effectively retire at the humble age of 18
What do you mean? There will be lots of skaters who come to Beijing 2022 as their 2nd Olympics. Very big chance we would see again Kaori Sakamoto, Leona Hendrickx, Nicole Schott, Bradie Tennell, Mae Meite, etc. If you say that we will never see a skater going to Olympics twice, maybe youre only watching Russian figure skating?? And its not the fault of Russian skaters nor coaches if the sport is excessively growing in the country. They cannot stop little girls watching Alina, Zhenya, Anna etc as their idols and cannot stop them following the path of those idols in figure skating. They cannot stop children to pursue the sport. The math works very well that when there are so many supplies, the 3 international spots will keep Russian team changing every season. The thing is just that internayional skaters need to keepnup with ultra c elements to make it to podium, time will tell whether those ultra c trends will last or not. And if you think about having similar/monotonous programs, I assume you didnt watch a lot about the World Championship.
At the end of the day, all drama aside, all these Eteri girls are gorgeous, sweet, very talented and they all work super super hard, I agree they will sweep the Olympic podium and all I want is a clean skate from everyone, being that way I would be happy with whatever the result is knowing they all did their best. I'm not gonna take that nonsense of someone getting gold because she got the points by landing 3 quads of 65225412 she had planned and botched the rest of the program. The real crime for me is the Davis/Smolkin situation, Kaganovskaya/Angelopol are 100000000000000x skilled, charismatic, good looking. They're a polished, more skilled and refined version of Stepanova/Bukin, they have the whole package and we're just gonna sit and watch how this diamond team gets robbed and boring, tastless Diana and Gleb sky rocket because she's Eteri's daughter. Sickening, really
chill! That's just Deve's conspiracy theory. It's very unlikely DavisSmokin pair will win unless they really improve. Not everything Dave says here comes true. I mean over 50% of this year's highlights were predicted incorrectly by him. In fact in half the cases I knew he's mistaken by sheer intuition, and I've only been watching FS for 3 years. So take predictions as wild guesses
Angelopol and Kaganovskaya will skate in juniors for a few more years. Smolkin and Davis are far from the first couple in Russia. They have a lot of competitors, including yesterday's juniors.
I wanted to add this comment before watching the video, I think Trusovas return to Tutberidze all but kills Tuktamyshevas chances for the Olympic team, I think the first 2 spots are for Valieva and Trusova, the 3rd spot will be between Scherbakova, Kostornaia and Usacheva, maybe ...maybe Tuktamysheva
I think Trusova was always going to be on the Olympic team. I love Liza, but she was never going to be on the team unless one of the Russians lost her jumps or was injured. I think the team will be Sasha, Anna and Kamila.
Those chances were pretty much zero even before the transfer, tbh. Do not believe her scores at Worlds/WTT - they are pretty much fake, inflated by RusFed collaboration with int. judges. Her real scores and level is closer to what was at RusNat - a little bit higher than 200. That, and the only reason Tuktamysheva was allowed to go to Worlds is that Eteri had only one senior skater this season. Next season there will be lot of them - and beating ANY of them is like beating final boss in a game. Eteri is not give away her skaters. Period. ..Most likely she will lose not only to new seniors - but to new juniors such as Akatieva and Samodelkina as well - since they will be allowed to participate in RusNat next season as well. They are.. "next generation level" of strong and as easily podium threat as others )
Why in the world would you put Sasha's chances as higher than Anna despite Sasha never beating Anna since juniors? If anything Sasha will be fighting it out with Aliona and whoever else. Anna literally just needs one quad, maybe two considering how showered she is with GOE and PCS.
Why not, maybe he is one to finally get her mind of jumps and open her artistically, cos clearly neither Eteri nor Plush managed to find the key to unlocking her.
Happy Ester everyone. What will be the best music skater are going to skate too? Do you think that someone going to do an Earth Wind and Fire song selction? What is happening? I fell this is being such a Hot Mess. The next season is going to be a good one. When will the season start and when will the ISU come out with Grand Prix slots. Do you think that they should change from 12 skaters to 24?
What condition do you think Anna has to be in to make the Olympics? Does she need a quad to make the team??? Or can we just get the components to be overscored to the roof??
She needs to land two quads consistently or she won't be able to take on a three 3A Kostornaia. Three quads to take on Kamila. PCS means nothing in a field of all Sambo skaters, they'll all be scored through the roof, unless it comes down to Scherbakova vs Trusova.
two quads. she doesn't have to win nationals. just be in the top 3 and then go from there relying on her inflated PCS and GOE. I think 2 quad Anna would beat 3 3A Aliona unless she just completely goes back to form from 2018-2019. Olympics will actually be easier for any russian girls than their nationals
I wish that the Internet skating community would stop pretending like these girls have a choice. Also, although I'm sad Trusova had to go back, but I'm glad that Maiia Khromykh won't be over scored against girls with better technique and expression just because she's an Eteri girl.
What do you have against Maia? Yall are compained and laughed “Eteri gonna dump her! She’s a inconsistent flop! Why is she jumping quads she never gonna land?” and then Russian cup final happened. No wonder fandom dislikes Maia. She is one of the biggest proof that Eteri knows what she’s doing and champions don’t fall from the sky to her.
@BEazy Really? The girls don't have a choice? Says who? So they can leave when they want, how they want, coach with a new team they want, Say what they want publicly, but then when they return to Eteri team they have no choice?? How hypocritical! Just because it's Eteri. I'm sure if they would be returning to, for instance, Mishin you wouldn't be saying the same thing. And stop feeling sad for Trusova. She has free will and these have been her decisions. You are not feeling sad for her but for yourself. Furthermore, you talk about the skating community and here you are, bashing Maia...
@@jacquelineblance4861 I don't have anything against Maiia but I think it would be unfair for other girls to put her in silver place just because she has a "quad".
Everyone's probably crying over the Trusova should cut her hair comment, but I couldn't possibly agree more. I'm Dave's age, but I had hair like Trusova's until my early 20's, and it really thinned my hair out. Sure, it felt cute at the time, but it's not cute having the hair of someone in her mid-60's when I'm in my mid-30's.
She can still have long hair, if she cut it at her waist or mid back she could still have that security blanket (because I think the long hair is some sort of mental encouragement for her) but without the inches of dry split ends. She should keep the red colour too
She just seriously needs a trim. Those ends are not a good look. It honestly looks like she won't allow anyone to style it too since even in professional shoots she has the same style. Anna has beautiful long hair. Sasha could with a little maintenance.
@@rop888 That could be it because when my hair was like that, I wouldn't let anyone even trim it. Even if she just lost several inches, she'd look a lot better.

I am also very excited about that, and intrigued in a way. If I guess it right, Eteri may be trying to explore how to make few successful pairs using some of her skillful young stars with ultra C elements. There are only 3 spots for women’s competition, and none of the pairs in the world do the Quads or 3A. And what if? Maybe it’s a far fetched idea, my wishful thinking, but who knows? She was the one who taught women to do the quads
I can't see how she can be possibly be a good pairs coach. The little girl jump technique she teaches is useless for the pairs skaters and T&S can't get a PCS bump from her because it's already so high. And just when you thought they couldn't have a worse program than Candyman we'll now have a Dany G pantomine pairs program lol

It looks like the 3A are back in business! I can totally see them making the Olympic team. Actually, the only real candidates I can see are the 3A + Valieva for Olympics/Worlds 2022. Empress Liza, as great as she is, isn't going to be getting that PCS bump that the Eteri girls get. Medvedeva and Zagitova aren't coming back, and that's okay, because Tutberidze has a bunch of girls in line to become the next ladies' Olympic champion. Unless Rika and Kaori recover/step it up next season, they'll not be challenging the Russian girls. That is the truth. Miyahara is not even a threat, let alone a candidate for 2022 Olympics/Worlds. Tarasova and Morozov getting into Team Tutberidze? Not sure how this is going to pan out, as she's known for coaching ladies' singles. Best of luck to all skaters, and I hope they return next season healthy.
There are also strong Korean girls, who may surprise us next year. And I sincerely hope that Rikka will stabilize her performance-in a way, she is a bit like Sashenka Trusova-doing all the jumps during the warm up, and failing them during the real competition. These two need some good psychological backup, hot yoga classes or something of this sort.
@@dariakukhar1595 Rika needs to get back to Hamada in Japan, or pray that she be able to get to Brian Orser in Canada. Don't know how Lambiel is really helping her get those quads and stabilizing her consistency. Trusova just needs to focus on her best quads, ditch the 3A, and she'll be winning gold again next season. I don't know about the Korean ladies. It really depends on how quickly the world can vaccinate so that we get back to a sense of normalcy, and travel restrictions can be lifted. Many skaters have not been able to really train effectively last year because of the pandemic, and then add in injuries and no real competing...
@@Essylte The problem with Trusova that she never won the gold as an adult, because she could never deliver during the competition. And maybe it’s the same psychological stage fright that Rika has-both of them do wonders during warm up, but snap and they fail the jumps when competing. That was the real reason she fled to Pluschenko, as she hoped he, with his quads experience and perhaps, Mishin’s school student, would be able to stabilize the jumps. But Trusova also is fixated on 5 jumps
@@dariakukhar1595 I hope both girls overcome their shortcomings. They need to watch more Yuna Kim and Yuzuru Hanyu on how to be mentally strong. Sasha probably has watched Nathan Chen a lot and wants to be like him, but she needs to realize that 5 quads isn't everything in figure skating.

Even if they will be competing for other countries after the OG. Perhaps, then other countries would wake up and start supporting the sport. If we didn’t have Etery and the suite of these extraordinary young ladies, nobody in Russia would be following the FS anymore. Dani is a hit or miss. When he does well, it's great. When he doesn't, it's completely boring

She should focus on stabilizing her quads. That girl struggles to land her basic triples.
Dasha Usacheva is also learning the 3A, with the help of Cool Sergey
Now he doesn’t have an athlete who is a part of team Russia, so a downgrade for him. At least for now.

The show we have been waiting for!

Did y'all here that Plushenko took Elizaveta Beretovskaya. It seems like the federation wants him to build his own skaters from scratch. So Eteri's girls leave but he can take the Juniors.
I made the same analysis
Berestovskaya isn't really scratch. And really no one asked her to leave Davydov who's a good coach actually. She just didn't expect Trusova return. Now there's no spot for her with Tutberidze. This will be one fast return to her coach with tears of shame.
She failed to attend Eteri because the team will be very busy for Olympics. So they dont prioritize junior skaters for next season. If Liza and Eteri actually have a match, she could return next season after olympics.
She is doing Quads already, so it’s not really from scratch
She's back at Davydov's team, they postd on Instragram about 2 hours ago
I had the same thought about Trusova needing to cut her hair and look more stylish
@Almira Izumchenskyas much as i love kosto , kamila is far superior ☹️☹️
The chances of Aliona (or any skater) debuting a quad successfully in an Olympic season are low. We’re not in the 2019-20 season any longer, her PCS advantage is gone. Kamila has 3A and now two quads and Aliona is not much of a threat to her at this point.
SP could be close (but clean Kamila will score higher), and FS will not be close with Kamila’s TES advantage

American fans: we care about the process of training being safe for all athletes
Also Americans: turned a blind eye to the Karolyi Ranch even when gymnasts were being openly critical of the "training", especially once the Nassar issue rose to the surface.
EPIC FAIL.
Exactly, you can tell he was not invested in coaching, he just wanted to be a brand.
Unrelated but I notice Kostornia doing a lot of solo triple sals in her exhibition, and I am REALLY hoping that its a sign that shes seriously preparing for a quad sal?
I think so too!!
Me too. The 3A is important but she will need a quad if she wants to go to the olympics.
She always does 3S in galas.
Her 3S is quite impressive in height and stability so I can really imagine it being quad
Awaiting your views on the 3 A's! The last year- OMG- the drama and the intrigue in Moscow!!!
Gleb Smolkin’s dad played in the Russian remake of the “Nanny” tv show that was popular in America. That’s how majority of people know him. However, he’s mostly a brilliant theatre actor. As for Russian movies - I say check out a film “I am Dragon”, watch it with subtitles on Amazon prime, or “Salyut 7”, I think it’s on Netflix. That’s the first ones that come to mind but there’s more
OMG I watched the documentary about remaking Everybody Loves Raymond in Russia and I remember them showing the Russian version of The Nanny and it looking so funny.
@@TheSkatingLesson it was actually hilarious! Was a huge hit! Probably around 2003-2005... Gleb Smolkin’s dad played the equivalent of the Butler (Niles in US?). He became very famous with that part, but as I said mostly plays in theatre.

Trusova's return wasn't a surprise, it was coming since the rumours were like circling for months.
I’m not at all surprised Trusova transferred back. I always found it very interesting how Eteri didn’t slam her via IG post. I suspect she always knew, she would get her back/ needed her. Sasha is just BUILT to last.
Eteri didn't slam her because Sasha never offended her, Zhenya and Alyona did not get slammed for leaving but for how they left
It is because the father was the one Eteri had issues with, not the skater.
@@kthy31 Zhenya’s departure was already debunked by both Tarasova who slammed Eteri for airing the one sided text convo / the director of Crystal himself said Evgenia was there with the bouquet, but Eteri was not present.

Agree 100%!
I don't think so. Ana and kami's spots are basically guaranteed, the 3rd one however is yet to be decided, but I think it'll be Sasha
@@SergejKrolik Completely and totally agree
Why in the world would you put Sasha's chances as higher than Anna despite Sasha never beating Anna since juniors? If anything Sasha will be fighting it out with Aliona and whoever else. Anna literally just needs one quad, maybe two considering how showered she is with GOE and PCS.
Sunday treat!! Thanks, guys! xo
Enjoy!
do you think after Tuktamysheva retires, Trusova might go to Mishin?
I kind of think Mishin is only staying in this long for Liza.
Why not, maybe he is one to finally get her mind of jumps and open her artistically, cos clearly neither Eteri nor Plush managed to find the key to unlocking her.

Do you think that they should change from 12 skaters to 24?
What condition do you think Anna has to be in to make the Olympics? Does she need a quad to make the team??? Or can we just get the components to be overscored to the roof??
@Almira Izumchensky assuming kostornaia gets her triple Axel back!!
Also, although I'm sad Trusova had to go back, but I'm glad that Maiia Khromykh won't be over scored against girls with better technique and expression just because she's an Eteri girl.
so, they had free will leaving the coach, but not coming back? I wanna see you say that to their faces one day and see them slap you.
She should keep the red colour too
@@S80-r1o I agree, she doesn't have to go shoulder length. Cutting that much off at once is terrifying when your hair is so long.
She just seriously needs a trim. Those ends are not a good look. It honestly looks like she won't allow anyone to style it too since even in professional shoots she has the same style. Anna has beautiful long hair. Sasha could with a little maintenance.

I am also very excited about that, and intrigued in a way.
@@dariakukhar1595 Yep! They both need a sports psychologist at this point! In an interwiev Sahsa stated that she didn't have one
