My friends shook their heads in disbelief when I said I watched PeeWee's Playhouse. I still think we all need a bit of silly in our lives.
PeeWee's Playhouse was a great show.
I loved Pee Wee's Playhouse
It was developed for ADULTS. It was meant to be psychedelic and trippy.
Peewee Herman’s not dead - he was just elected governor of Louisiana a few months back
I was a Trooper in Virginia.. on Saturdays me and some of my fellow officers would meet at my house and loved watching Pee Wee
Thank you for showing this. He was a good man. He never hurt anyone. Stood up to bullies in all his shows and movies. Thank Paul✨
Enjoyed his humor and sillyness
Dropped the mic❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And had explicit pics of children engaged in sexual situations 🤮
I discovered Pee Wee's Playhouse when my kids were tots. We all loved to watch the show together, and he was so funny that we were all rolling with laughter. Thanks for sharing your unique humor, and may you rest in peace, Paul Reubens. 🙏🏻
Ditto!!
Paul Ruebens hurt no one. He kept his private life private. He didn’t make an issue out of being in an adults only movie theater. Like everyone else he was entitled to a private life, but celebrity didn’t give him the right. He didn’t ask permission and he also didn’t ask forgiveness. I’d rather have someone accept their flaws and quirks than pretend they were above the blame.
I hope he realized during his life that his work was acknowledged and appreciated.
Amen!
@@lauracwhitney me too.
Of the Adult Theater was against the Law, the DA should have shut it down. But nooooooo had o set up Pee Wee!!
Adults Places all everywhere!
@@oneseeker2 had Paul Rueben’s been the only customer that theater wouldn’t have been open. Now we know that closing those places starts to step on people’s civil rights. Which right is it; the inalienable right to self pleasure?
Pee Wee Herman was ok. He was an original comic genius.
He has his followers and his fans. Good for him. I hope he finds eternal peace. My deepest and most heart-felt sympathy for his family, friends, and his fans. 🙏 RIP my friend 💔.
He was more than ok he was a comic genius.
@user-ng3lk9pn8e
I corrected what I had stated.
Thank you for enlightening me.
Pee Wee Herman deserves to be remembered fondly and correctly.
I loved him, he wasn’t afraid to appear silly.
It is a shame he was so condemned then when we see what is being allowed to continue in society today. He deserved to have a private life. Instead of focusing on the laughs and joy he brought to millions many want to focus on his troubles. I hope he has found peace now and knows he was loved.
Right on 🎯....... There was NEVER any proof he hurt ANYONE but himself and his reputation....so many in hollywood have done so many worse things..
If a celebrity makes just one mistake there will be jealous people waiting to condemn them. No one is perfect and if someone is under pressure they might make mistakes. It seems Paul Reuben's life was mostly positive and that's what matters. Ignore all the haters who've done nothing with their lives.
True. I never thought there'd be a President writing payoff checks to a porn star. All the while lying about it and still running to be President again.
He was a comic genius wrapped in a kind man. He will be missed. 🙏🙏🙏
My family loved Pee Wee 😅Herman . Every movie, Pee Wee’s PlayHouse was the very best children’s show ever . It made you laugh and feel good but also taught you lessons of kindness. We watched every thing we could find him in.
It was wrong what was done to him . R I P Pee Wee . His playhouse show was innocent like Mr. Rogers but also made you laugh and feel happy while teaching.
I remember seeing him back in the 70's in the Cheech and Chong movie Nice Dreams and his talent was evident even back then. I also remember seeing him 9-years ago as a guest judge on the special effects makeup artist reality competition FACE-OFF and he was very respected for his career endeavors by the other judges and also the competitors.
Paul Reubens was the best. I loved his “Pee Wee’s Playhouse.” The kid and I laughed and laughed at antics. The adult humor glided right over my child’s head. It was the perfect show for the entire family. God bless him and his show. Thank you Paul Reubens. Thanks for everything.
Paul Reubens passed away July 30, 2023 (aged 70) Los Angeles, California, U.S.. It was a sad loss but it was almost a year ago todate, so why the announcement now?
Excellent question???
The cause of death had not previously been released.
You always made me laugh Pee Wee! Your private life was your own, just as we all want ours to be! You hurt no one, & cancer is horrible! RIP so many will always love you! R.J.
His movies were some of the few where I could take my kids, and we all had a great time. He was the king of double entendre, making adult remarks and comments that went way over the kids heads. He was an amazing actor, writer, and human being. Man, we need more Paul Reubens in this world.
He was a true genius. I watched every episode of Peewee's playhouse with my kids when they were young. He was so funny, unique & brilliant. Rip Paul. You gave joy to many.
Talented for sure.
I remember the pearl clutching gasps that erupted over PWH and his legal woes. Upon reflection, those woes pale in comparison to what we will tolerate today.
Now they do far worse, and people admire them for it.
Exactly
The only one that he sexually abused was himself, in a porno movie theater. Damn. He should have just rented it and watched it at home!
that episode in an adult bookstore? really, why were the police there in the first place? everyone knows what goes on in those places and that is why i do not go there. is there so little real crime the police have to entrap and terrorize people who are different?
You are so right. We want to know everything about a celebrity to the point of almost stalking them. But turn our backs on them if they so much as have dirty fingernails.
Meanwhile an ex president is sitting in a court room for his nasty deeds and his base still accept him. Paul got dealt a raw hand by the same folks that "clutch their pearls and have the vapors" but support a crazed cult leader.
I fondly remember Pee Wee's Playhouse, and his movies. Its a shame about the adult movie incident, and his other legal battles. But i hope he is resting in peace.
At the time Pee Wee was being trashed in the media for this, Magic Johnson was being praised for being open about exposing many women to AIDS. And Pee Wee was being dissed for practicing safe sex. Ironic. Wrong.
Loved his voice and laugh in his skits, and the way he didn't take no shit, he was hilarious 🙏🫶
Paul was a lovely person and he gave us so much. I will love him forever ❤❤❤
Sweet Paul got a raw deal. Totally Unfair .
I loved him❤🎉
Thank you for showing us that he did have plenty of work despite the bad break.
My heart is broken hearing 💔 that this Precious gem of a Man suffered in silence. 😢😢
He will always be Pee Wee to me. Thanks for all the years of entertainment! ❤
Continue to R.I.P & thank-you for everything you have done to entertain your fans.
I cried like a baby when i heard he had died😭 believe it ir not; i am wearing my peewees playhouse shirt right now. I loved him.i saw him in all of the Cheech and Chong movies, as well as Pee Wee Big Top and Big Adventure. I have 2 peewee dolls. Globie, the little man "henry? Also have chairy MOC.".ALSO have the peewee herman ring and 2 copies of the Mad magazine with him on the cover. So fin what. He got caught getting off in an adult movie theatre😤. That does not define him. So sad that this scandal ended his career🤬and then he died❗❗❗❗
You are so right, reading this article almost made me cry too!! People can be so crude and cruel!!
5/20/24....I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES THE 1ST TIME I SAW PEEWEE ON TV ONE SAT MORNING 🌅!
WATCHED RELIGIOUSLY EVERY WEEK!
HE WAS DEFINITELY "ONE OF A KIND" .....AND ALWAYS MADE ME LAUGH SO MUCH THAT I CRIED + HOWLED....
EVEN MY FRIENDS THOUGHT I WAS NUTS!!! BUT THEY FOUND OUT THAT I WAS "ADDICTED" + STILL AM!
PEEWEE WILL ALWAYS BE MY SPECIAL "REAL LIVE CARTOON CHARACTER"......
I'M AN OLDER SINGLE RETIRED LADY ----BUT I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I LEAVE THIS 🌎 FOR RAINBOW 🌈 BRIDGE 🌉 + GET TO THE PEARLY GATES....
I KNOW PEEWEE IS UP THERE WITH HIS JOKES + ALL MY FAMILY/FRIENDS/PETS .......AND JESUS + ALL GOD'S CHOSEN + ANGELS.
AND HE'S TIDING HIS RED BIKE 🚲 ALL OVER !
THAT'S HOW I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER PEEWEE HERMAN! ❤️
RIP Paul (not RIP Peewee, you were SO MUCH more than just Peewee). Paul was a genius! His unique humor will be sorely missed.
Love him, RIP Paul.💘
Paul Rubens was one of the most beloved actors, and his character of Pee Wee Herman will be forecer remembered.
PeeWee is an American icon. The playhouse show appealed to children and allowed the inner child of adults to come to the surface and enjoy the carefree joys of being a kid. Peewee’s Playhouse influenced the minds of children to do good and be kind.
I loved him as the 'Hamburger Dude' in NIce Dreams and the annoying front desk clerk in '..Next Movie'
His "death" scene in the original Buffy was classic. Moaning, twitching, and slyly checking to see if anyone was watching. 🤣
❤ Paul Reubens is so loved for who he was, I only hope that he feels that now ❤❤
RIP Pee Wee Herman
Paul Rubin was my hero in the 80s after recuperating from Salmonella food poisoning. Watching the Play House with adult humor for kids was a joy. By 1989, I worked on the last two seasons of Pee Wee Herman's Play House. RIP Paul.
I had lost track. Thanks so much for a full and ultimately positive account of the life of Paul Reubens a.k.a. Pee Wee Herman..... Part salt.... Part pepper.... Off-center and encountering brushes with the law.., but with very redeeming, positive and endearing qualities. Ya can't get more a more colorful contrast than that.... Rest in peace.
PeeWee, the kid who lives in my senior body, loved your individuality and humor.
As an adult during the 80’s I wasn’t the target demographic for Pee -Wee’s Playhouse but found it entertaining and enjoyed his movies. He seemed like a talented, honest and authentic but frail human being. It seemed he wanted to entertain people above all else and his transgressions hurt only himself.
I love Pee-Wee Herman the character and have great love and respect for Paul Reubens. RIP Paul, you and Pee-Wee have impacted many more lives than you know. I still add a”y” on the end of nouns to make adjectives due to your influence (“mmmm, banana-y”). You are remembered fondly and are greatly missed.
When i was a kid i used to watch this man. I was born in 1985... thought he would live forever
Rest easy Paul. My family enjoyed your work. 🙏💕
Paul’s show Pee Wee’s play House was awesome! I loved watching him in other shows as well. I was always excited to see him as I believed he was a great actor.
My daughters and my son in law and my grandchildren had the pleasure of seeing his show on Broadway in New York City. It was awesome.
Rest in paradise Paul!! I loved watching PWP with my kid’s. And I will always be a fan. I hope you are at peace.
i watched it with my kids too- he was hysterical!
@@user-yn1fh2bv3n I know I laughed so hard. His movie was hilarious and I need to watch it again.
I also recall laughing while watching his show with my children. May he rest in peace. I hope he realized that appreciated his light hearted creativity.
Mystery Men is one of my favorite movies of all time- I watch it on loop when I'm sick
I watched PeeWee's Playhouse with my grandchildren about 20-25 years ago. The kids loved the show and I found myself laughing at some of the silliest things. I will never forget his "Giant Underpants" skit....it was hilarious! The man had a fantastic sense of humor that both kids and adults appreciated.
I ❤❤❤❤❤ him!!! Will always be my favorite!!! THANK YOU PAUL for all the laughs and smiles!!!
I don’t care for silliness so I never watched his shows. However this article pointed out the good things he accomplished in his lifetime. Thank you for showing that. I have a new respect for the complicated man he turned out to be.
You have to watch Pee Wee's big adventure its brilliant.
You don't care for silliness...what the hell does that mean...
I watched his show every time! And I had 2 Pee Wee dolls, his bicycle but most of all, I bought a Pee Wee outfit complete with a mask! I wore that outfit ( with my dark hair put up ,)and as a teacher of the second grade, I wore that outfit into my classroom for the Halloween party! Still have it. So sad about the movie incident when look what we see now! He was a comedic genius! And I miss him.❤
.
What a talent! “The good in men are often interred with their bones, the evil long lives after them!” WS Anthony’s funeral oration for Julius Caesar. So true then and now! RIP Paul
He was such a big part of our life. Now I'm 70 and still laugh when I see his face. We even went to see him on Broadway. He will always hold a place in our hearts.
He managed to do one of the funniest & most protracted "Looney Tunes" type death scenes in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" I bought the DVD for that death scene alone. I never watched his show on Saturday mornings, but not because I didn't enjoy his work, I had to be in the shop by 7am & was never much for setting up to record. I enjoyed him in Cheech & Chong's movies, (which to me were kind of adult versions of a cartoon show anyway), and caught him here & there on the tube.
But as plenty of others have said on here, he never hurt anyone & he made kids happy, as far as I'm concerned, those are two of the biggest goals that one can aspire to. RIP Paul Reubens, a phenomenal guy!
You left out Lawrence Fishburn as Cowboy Carl, his frequent appearances on Letterman and Carson, and his role as The Spleen in Mystery Men. And he played Amy's brother on Everybody Loves Raymond but was quickly replaced by Chris Elliott after one of his arrests.
Cowboy Curtis.
When you said the Blues Brothers you were showing the movie Blow.
I came to the comments just for this lol I caught that too lol
Thanks for the laughs pee wee you were special and never to be forgotten.
R.I.P. Paul aka Peewee
Thank you So Much for your Lovingly made presentation above Paul Herman. I really do appreciate hearing the truth about this beautiful person. ❤🎉❤🎉l❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
He was funny I didn't watch all his TV and movies but I did see some . But what I saw was funny sorry he's gone.
Hard to believe he has been gone almost 1 year 😢😢
Paul Reubens was much more of a Talent than I gave him credit for. His ups and downs showed me me a resilience I wouldn’t have thought he had! RIP PEE WEE HERMAN!!🙏🏻👼😎👼🙏🏻
Loved that quirky little gentleman. Watch his Playhouse as an adult with my teenage kids. Love the Big Adventure, esp. Large Marge!
As a physician I’m sadly astonished that he had that disease! It is one of the most hideous and painful diseases that anyone could ever experience! How do I know? My own brother Stephen Cox had it! And he had no choice but to horde his drugs and take EVERYTHING all at once! He was 66! This makes you cry uncontrollably! It TRULY is HELL ON EARTH!
I too loved Paul…
He was a comedic genius and always made me laugh
along with millions of others…
I will miss him but never forget him.
Thank you Paul for all you did for us.
He got villified and miligned under sketchy circumstances rumors and dropped charges (mostly ungrounded) and guilt by association ....Little has been said about his philanthropy, for child hunger, and animal protection and caring for his terminally ill father...But he was most known for making kids (and kids at heart) laugh.
I love his creativeness, his ability to capture our imagination, his amazing sense of humor!!! I watched the pee wee show and his movies! AND I have a treasured Pee Wee tàlking doll. Arrested for something men do all the time, was a sad situation. It was private, in an almost empty x rated movie theater, lap covered with a newspaper. Unfortunately some dude recognized him and wanted to make a buck, so brought him down. But his private life does not change the fact that he was an entertainer, a creative genius. Each show had a great message for kids and he was loved. RIP PAUL ❤❤❤❤❤😢
I used to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse with my daughter. Those were good times. Thank you for the gift of laughter, those were good years, RIP. 😢
I am a huge peewee fan. Friggin shame what they did to him. The guy was brilliant. I was in college when pee wee hit big. We all talked like him, we loved him. The shitty media shamed him to death.
My daughter in law loved him so much she said he helped children learn so much . She did not want his show to stop 🛑 because it was so helpful to children .
I will forever love Pee Wee Herman…..thanks for the laughs, Paul…..❤️
I loved Pee Wee. This is very sad to hear of his death but, he lived a good life and many people that he never even knew loved him. RIP Paul Reubens, you will be missed ❤
Why would the cops raid his house if he was into art?
Somebody was "gunning" for him after the Theatre incident....probably to make a name for themselves and to make themselves look good on the evening news.
It was vintage photos of minors in sex acts. Apparently child pornography is not new. Even in Art Deco there is a fine live between a seductive female wood nymph and a young child-like female wood nymph. An artist's depiction of an imaginary fairy creature of unknown age may not be illegal, but actual young children photographed partially clothed as seductive wood nymphs would definitely be illegal. It sounds like what Pee Wee had was beyond the ruling of being merely artistic.
R.I.P. Paul and Thank you for the laughter
My brother died of the same thing. I hope he had someone to help him at the end. Cancer is terrible to deal with, alone. Paul and Phil Hartmann had many collaborations together, that brought smiles to others, and God knows we need levity in life. May he rest in peace.
Loved Paul! May he rest in peace 🙏🙏he will never be forgotten. ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
I love Pee Wee Herman❣️ I watched the kids’ version of Pee Wee’s Playhouse on Saturday mornings all the time and loved his movies. Such a clever man! His humor will live on forever.
♥️I miss your humor.
I had a nightclub in Fort Myers in the late 80's and early 90's. It was called Salad Days. Pee Wee showed up there one night. I had taken the evening off so I missed his arrival.
I was never really into Peewee, but he does get my respect. Especially after learning so much about him.
The guy was a genious, no doubt about it!! Respect!!
I never missed an episode of Pee Wee's Playhouse. Paul gave me permission to be silly as an adult and it changed me forever. I miss him so much!!!
I loved him as a kid watching Pee wee Herman. And i loved his serious acting as an adult. I always had a fondness of him regardless of his legal woes. He was a wonderful entertainer! ❤
It's sad to hear that Paul Reuben is no longer with us. The character he portrayed, PeeWee was funny, silly and courageous. I was one of those viewers who also watched PeeWee's Playhouse. Always looking forward for the "word of the day" . 😉 I send out my condolences to all his family, friends and fans. Rest in Pease dear friend.
I always enjoyed his work, but being 10 years older than he, I was not the target of his work.
Paul didn't just "promote" the movie Mystery Men, he acted in it as The Spleen, and was a key character. Also, the 911 in Reno 911 is pronounced "nine one one," not "nine hundred eleven."
Having said that, overall, this was a lovely retrospective, and I enjoyed it!
How could anyone not Love Pee Wee!! Thank you Paul for your wonderful vision, talent and the Laughter!!! RIP!
he truely is a legend.how sad it was to lose him.he will never beforgotten.i shed a tear when i heard of his passing.PeeWee is forever cemented in entertainment history.we love and miss you paul.be proud of your life because your fans have your back.wish you were still here.incredible respect for you paul.im so glad we have video memories of your work.love you man.
My ex and our two now grown children truly enjoyed watching Pee Wee and his antics. An amazing talent he was
My Son loved to watch PeeWee's Playhouse when he was little. Thank you for the laughs and entertainment Pee Wee Herman!
RIP.
As an adult I enjoyed Pee Wee's Playhouse very much. His use of double entendres for children and adults was hilarious. I remember one particular episode with Miss Yvonne and either the fireman or the policeman that had me laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. The movie where his bike was stolen was just as good. The above narration of his career seems unnecessarily vague about parts of his life. He was gifted with a unique comedic talent.
You forgot to mention "The Final Moments of Karl Brant" in which Reubens had a dramatic role. It's an excellent sci-fi short, can be found on UA-cam.
He made us laugh at his silliness. He did the best he could in his life and created a character everybody loved.
Most loved Paul (22 Emmys). A great video about him, thank you.
It’s been since 2011 since my last relationship I’ve suffered for decades much the same as Paul, I have rheumatoid vasculitis. No cure and is terminal. Pain unmentionable.
I’m sorry you’re suffering. I will pray for you. I hope you have some loved ones nearby.
🙏 for you
He was great on “Murphy Brown” as Stan’s nephew.
Years after his TV show ended, we went to see his play bringing everything back to life. Everyone involved really committed to the performance. You could hear that the audience thrill to each reveal of the characters from the show. It ended with him being able to fly. We had a great time. Sorry to see him go.
He did what he did but he's who he is like everyone else!
R . I . P . , Pee Wee.
I grew up watching peewee’s playhouse. Every child did in the 80’s /90’s
Not my kids.
I think he was unfairly prosecuted & was a threat to no one. We all are a little strange . What he did in his personal life was no one else's business. R.I.P Mr. Reubens 🙏
I cracked up every time I saw Pee Wee ❤ Paul was great & he deserves a break. Thanks for all the laughter & rest in peace Mr. Rubens
My kids loved watching PeeWee. (I did too) Bought them the VHS Boxset of PeeWee's Playhouse series. All actors need to have they private life's ~ Left Private.
RIP 🌹
thanx for allll the laughs.!
19:33 for his cause of death
You’re welcome.
I never saw any of his shows or movies but I certainly had heard of him. It seems as though he had a really good acting career. I didn't know he had died and I'm sure he will be missed. Maybe one day I'll watch one of his movies. It's good he kept his personal life private. The public shouldn't have had a need to know about his personal life.
At the time of his arrest I wondered if they arrested a lot of the men in that theatre - I mean, c'mon - this was an 'adult' movie in an 'adult' theatre. I'm quite sure he wasn't the only one.
I first saw PeeWee on TV back in the 80s and then his movie came out. It was hilarious. That was a pretty dark time for me in my early 20s, filled with drugs and drama, PeeWee brought a lot if sparkle and laughs. Thank you Mr. Reubens!
Reno Nine Hundred and Eleven? Come on now. I know of a show called Reno 911...
This is a shitty IA voiceover.
We truly only have had a handful of actual "normal" and good people as entertainers and Paul is one of them. Glad so many had his back and that he wasn't destroyed as too many deserve to be today for doing actual crimes. RIP
Just what are you SUPPOSED to do in an adult movie theater?
Stupid cops.
There are folks you'll just like in life, no matter what. I was about 12 when Pee Wees Playhouse hit the air. Instantly loved how stupid the show was and loved Pee Wee ever since for just never dropping character. Even after hearing about his challenges, still just liked his dorkiness. Hate that he's gone.
