Paul Ruebens hurt no one. He kept his private life private. He didn’t make an issue out of being in an adults only movie theater. Like everyone else he was entitled to a private life, but celebrity didn’t give him the right. He didn’t ask permission and he also didn’t ask forgiveness. I’d rather have someone accept their flaws and quirks than pretend they were above the blame.

He seemed like a talented, honest and authentic but frail human being. It seemed he wanted to entertain people above all else and his transgressions hurt only himself.

I never watched his show on Saturday mornings, but not because I didn't enjoy his work, I had to be in the shop by 7am & was never much for setting up to record. I enjoyed him in Cheech & Chong's movies, (which to me were kind of adult versions of a cartoon show anyway), and caught him here & there on the tube.
But as plenty of others have said on here, he never hurt anyone & he made kids happy, as far as I'm concerned, those are two of the biggest goals that one can aspire to. RIP Paul Reubens, a phenomenal guy!

I am a huge peewee fan. Friggin shame what they did to him. The guy was brilliant. I was in college when pee wee hit big. We all talked like him, we loved him. The shitty media shamed him to death.

It was vintage photos of minors in sex acts. Apparently child pornography is not new. Even in Art Deco there is a fine live between a seductive female wood nymph and a young child-like female wood nymph. An artist's depiction of an imaginary fairy creature of unknown age may not be illegal, but actual young children photographed partially clothed as seductive wood nymphs would definitely be illegal. It sounds like what Pee Wee had was beyond the ruling of being merely artistic.

My brother died of the same thing. I hope he had someone to help him at the end. Cancer is terrible to deal with, alone. Paul and Phil Hartmann had many collaborations together, that brought smiles to others, and God knows we need levity in life. May he rest in peace.

It's sad to hear that Paul Reuben is no longer with us. The character he portrayed, PeeWee was funny, silly and courageous. I was one of those viewers who also watched PeeWee's Playhouse. Always looking forward for the "word of the day" . 😉 I send out my condolences to all his family, friends and fans. Rest in Pease dear friend.

Paul didn't just "promote" the movie Mystery Men, he acted in it as The Spleen, and was a key character. Also, the 911 in Reno 911 is pronounced "nine one one," not "nine hundred eleven."
Having said that, overall, this was a lovely retrospective, and I enjoyed it!

As an adult I enjoyed Pee Wee's Playhouse very much. His use of double entendres for children and adults was hilarious. I remember one particular episode with Miss Yvonne and either the fireman or the policeman that had me laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. The movie where his bike was stolen was just as good. The above narration of his career seems unnecessarily vague about parts of his life. He was gifted with a unique comedic talent.

Maybe one day I'll watch one of his movies. It's good he kept his personal life private. The public shouldn't have had a need to know about his personal life.

There are folks you'll just like in life, no matter what. I was about 12 when Pee Wees Playhouse hit the air. Instantly loved how stupid the show was and loved Pee Wee ever since for just never dropping character. Even after hearing about his challenges, still just liked his dorkiness. Hate that he's gone.
