Link to where I bought the replacement part : ebay.us/W0R4DX Link to trim tools : ebay.us/5oySTh Be advised this can be a tricky enough job depending on how stuck your components may be, but this complete part new is very expensive compared with this part which is under $10, a major savings 😀 As always thanks for watching 🙏🙏
Having watched your, very informative, video, should I need to do a similar job i think I would purchase a new rotary knob for the top of it just to finish it off. Was the new piece you fitted made of aluminium?
He got me though it and even shows the true pain of getting that ring off, my tip if you haven’t got a vice have some one a hair drier but don’t over heat it.. oh and a lot of patience
I've done this very job on my own W204. It might not be a quick repair but it is literally fit-and-forget without the need to code the part to the head unit. A lot of people (myself included) have done videos on this repair. I was able to remove the outer part of the scroll wheel without too much difficulty. It is slotted so you need to line it up correctly when refitting it. Maybe your's wasn't lined up quite right and was just forced on. That would explain the difficulty you had taking it off.
The outer part of the scroll wheel has slots and the inner part has protrusions that line up with the slots to ensure an exact fit. It is exactly the same principle as the Woodruf key on a carkshaft pulley.

Doğru hizalama dediğiniz nedir ?

What about just pouring in epoxy that seals the broken piece versus all of this?
