I personally have a 2013 GT Premium w/ Recaro Seats. & OEM Factory Touchscreen. But all in all my opinion the lights inside the cabin is the main reason why I wanted the premium. It’s a whole vibe.

I came from a 2015 Ecoboost that I fully customized even down to the full body wrap. Full bolt on car. It was a base model. I've always thought about going back to the s197 in a Coyote. Ever since 2013 I wanted one. Finally a few months ago after a long search I found the one with the trim and features I wanted. A 2014 Sterling Gray Track Pack Premium with the leather Recaro seats and MT-82. Since then I've already started doing some work. Went with a MGW X-Spec shifter, JLT Series 2 CAI, Lund NGuage Tune so far. Threw on my Niche Targa Wheels and did some exhaust work. Plan on upgrading the Clutch and Clutch line asap. The car had bad lockout and clutch pedal getting stuck at high RPMs. The shifter has helped some but it didn't eliminate the issue. I've never had a Premium car before and I feel like these cars will be sought after more in the future. The s550 is numb in comparison to the s197 and i prefer the drivers car experience. No regrets here.

    I used to have a 14’ GT Premium and now have a 20’ GT350.
You forgot about the fact the 14’ premiums have the pony puddle light. And that, as silly as it is, is a cool feature. Also, with the heated seats, that’s an issue. You need to get them fixed. Mine went from perfect>warm>cool>inferno that’s a common issue apparently.

Mainly because I didn't want any regrets after taking delivery. I do plan on customizing, but I wanted to customize what was important to me. Not the seats and so on. The B&O soundsystem is amazing with the sub in the trunk, heated and cooled seats and digital instrument cluster. The showstopper red interior goes great with the all black exterior. Anyone interested can keep up with my mods on my channel. Would love some ideas from people.

Got a 2014 Mustang GT Premium. When I got the car it had just turned three years old from the date it was built. By that time, the price for GT base and GT premium was about the same on the used car market. Might as well go with something that’s a little bit nicer. Also people talking about the nav touch screen and pony puddle lights, those are added packages on the premium. Furthermore, if you got a GT base or GT premium with the stock 18s wheels, you won’t get the strut bar. You only get it if it was optioned up to the 19s. You can find the sales brochure in pdf from Google.

I own a 2012 GT premium with the performance package. It has the 19” wheels with the Brembo 4-piston front brake calipers and the 3.73 Torsen limited slip rear differential. It also has the electronics package with the nav screen and the special black leather seats with the white stripes going down the middle. It also has the stitched leather door panel inserts with the chrome ponies and the stainless ball shifter knob. The only option it doesn’t have is the panoramic glass roof, which is fine by me,because i live in central Florida and my car has a black interior,so it gets hot enough inside the car in the summertime! To me personally, these options make the car!

I bought a 2012 Mustang GT Base 6spd with 9k on it and have almost no regrets. The biggest one is it doesn't have Bluetooth or HID. I hate leather seats as they always get destroyed over time. But I got a 6speed coyote so I'm perfectly content 😁

I think the premium also comes with outside puddle lamps that show the pony under mirrors, very cool. When you open door, with premium you also get lighted door sills. Otherwise I think you mostly covered it. So,e GT premium have a different door insert with a chrome pony on side door which matches leather on seats with piping.

It's always a preference but I picked up a 2013 GT 401A package car last year. Live in Buffalo, NY so the heated seats are great in the Fall before the salt hits (then car is garaged). Leather is very nice. Also love the interior my color light zones and the pony projector lamps. Sometimes it's the little things that make a car special. Yes I have tons of interior mods such as the dyna performance carbon fiber and brushed nickle door panel's. Also have cobra jet manifold, stainless works LT headers, X pipe, GT500 exhaust, bmr Lowering springs and panhard bar. Basically an N/A beast. Cams are next big upgrade. A Coyote is a Coyote. Have fun all!

I have the base model '13 with tech/sync package. I added the premium gauge cluster, some footwell lighting (which comes with premium too), and a Kicker Hideaway sub behind my seat. Being in Texas, I actually prefer the cloth seats. My last car was leather and let me tell you, they can get H-O-T!. I also prefer the darker dash over the aluminum. I drive a 11 gt premium. It's got a 6spd manual and 3.73 gears. I bought mine because of the gear ratio mixed with the exhaust engine and transmission. I didn't know it was a premium when I bought it because I couldn't care less if it was a base or not. Only problem I had with it was I didn't know what was done to it. I was told it was tuned and later on working on it I found out that at some point they were in the heads for something. Also it wasn't a brembo package, but I got some powerstop brembos for it and I love them. The reason why I opted for the 3.73s unlike most going for the 3.31s is because I wanted to drag race it not go on a road course. The only mods I can recommend for you and anyone else with or without 3.73s is to replace the upper and lower rear control arms. The stamped steal for them is extremely weak and causes the rear to flex during hard acceleration and a hard launch.

JRD, Thanks for sharing the differences on these ‘11-‘14 year mustangs. I do like the 5.0 coyote engine and the manual transmission in the GT. The problem with these is that no new buyer knows what the previous owner drove these mustangs like. Hard or light. Safe to assume that there may be some abuse on these cars. And finding an unmolested mustang (stock OEM) would be hard to find as well. I do still want to get one though.

  • @sheparddoran2366

Honestly weighing the pros and cons of each models with ultimately led me to choose a boss 302. Getting suede recaros, a suede wrapped steering wheel, brembo's, a boss manifold, better handling and a super unique side exhaust were all nice, but the kicker was the super stout version of the coyote that they come with, which can take much more power than a normal gen 1. Cherry on top is school bus yellow is a boss 302 exclusive color. It should also hold it's value a little better and is kind of more rare, which is fun.
The one caveat there is it puts you right in 11-12 gt500 territory, and that makes just as strong of a case, if not stronger. You can get leather recaros, touchscreen, and the glass roof pretty easy if you look hard enough. And finding all 3 on a gt premium is nearly impossible. But if course, you also get a factory supercharged engine with way better torque. AND you get a friggen tr6060. Honestly i do wonder if that would have been a better option, but the boss 302 has always been my favorite, so i almost choose that out of some sense of loyalty. If you care about weight and handling they're on opposite ends of the spectrum, but if you want one that's absolutely loaded and is a better gt car, the gt500 is King daddy.

When they are used there really isnt much if any difference between the two models they both sell for aboit the same price. However when new the premium was several thousand dollars higher....wrap your head around that..seems like all that extra money you pay for it new dont even help you down the road since used they sell for about the same price. So let me fix that for you...
      Premium - idiots
Base - smart people who care more about performance and less about keeping up with the jones'
I am just kidding but really sync is the only thing i would really wanna have and starting on the 13 you can get that an an otherwise base car which is ideal imo. The base weighs less and has less things that can and will mess up in the future. So acting like the ballers get the premium and poor people get the base is an uneducated thing to say. Ecspecially since used they basically sell for the same price.

Bought a one owner 2010 gt a few months ago because it was a good deal. It happened to be a premium. But except for the my color I really didn't care. Don't use the Sync system. I live in Va, it gets cold here. The heated seats are nice feature. I do agree they don't get hot, just warm.

The premium is DEFINITELY worth the money bruh. Imo you'd have the best looking s197 coyote but I have to put you second to Derek and his grabber blue stang, because the the interior lol. Which sucks because I only prefer these cars in black lol.

Currently looking at a low mileage base GT. Yeah I want premium but it's hard to find these cars at my budget with low miles. I plan to swap in a premium cluster. The car does have the tech and sensor package. I think I will be happy with just having the premium cluster.

Picked up a base 14 GT 6 speed with 3.55s just 2 weeks ago. Got it for 19k with only 50k miles. Premium isn’t really worth it in my case. Only things that I liked that I didn’t get with the base are the leather seats and premium gauge cluster. The Premium cluster is a is an easy swap anyways for stupid cheap. Heated seats, illuminated entry, ambient lighting, sync, etc. just doesn’t interest me. Sync was terrible for those years anyways. Not worth the extra few thousand that people want to mark them up. The original owner also equipped it with a new exhaust and the nice black overlays on the dash so that’s a plus.

Hey bro I have a 2013 GT base model with brembo package and I consider trading it in for a S550 with all the bells and whistles. But I’ve thought about it and decided to keep it. I’ve put so much money into it and your right, just keep adding stuff that you like and comfortable with, saves money. My next big project for my car since I’m keeping it is to boost. I figured the money i would spend on a newer S550, I’ll just boost my S197.

I loved your video. However, I purchased a 2013 Mustang V6 Premium convertible in November 2018. The car had 14, 260 miles on it. It has the 6 speed auto, and Shaker 1000 sound system. The vehicle had been owned by an 87 yr old lady who traded the Mustang for a new Audi A3 red convertible with Quattro. I totally enjoy my Mustang But for me the Mustang is a summer car only. I also own a 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited and a 2021 Subaru Ascent Touring. To me it was exactly what I was seeking.

I picked up a 2014 GT 6spd base w/ 3.55s just 2 weeks ago. Only thing I really cared about and missed out on was leather seats and Premium Cluster. Sync, ambient lighting, illuminated entry, just doesn’t interest me. Mostly cause sync was terrible for those years.
Leather seats aren’t hard to get for cheap, and the 2014 Premium cluster is like $300 for the swap. You get all the track apps and stuff with it too. Premium is nice to have yeah, but not worth the insane amounts that people still want to sell 13-14 Stangs for.

Nice choice of cars i have a 16 fiesta st fbo hybrid customed tuned on e30 by pd tuning its prob around 290 whp at 2600 lbs lol...very fun daily and my weekend machine is a 2007 performance white stripe delete gt500. Its bolt ons, 4.10 gears 550 whp etc. So i see we have similar taste in cars. I love my old gt500 it dont got the stuff the newer ones do but that is what i like about it makes it more raw and it has an aftermarket pioneer screen with bluetooth so that helps to update it quite a bit. Outside of that i dont really care about anything else...it does have leather and mycolor and all that crap its a gt500 for Gods sake but it is older lol.

I love my 15 GT premium, I love the sound system especially because of the 401A package I have (11 speakers vs 9 speakers on the basic premium) plus my blind spot system, rear collision warning, GPS sucks ass on it, and I like the premium rear diffuser more than the base on the 15-17 mustangs. So for me it was worth the extra $3k

I went base model because i like working on cars, and want to do it myself. Also, and it might be minimal. But i chose base for weight. I figured if it doesn't have all the factory extra's, it should be a little lighter there for slightly quicker. So far it's fbo, 1 piece drive shaft, and tuned. Unknown rwhp, but i think its around 400?

If im not mistaken the only worthwhile difference between the 13 and 14 model had something to do with the gearbox. On the 14 model everybody said how bette tit felt and it shifted way better without locking you out from 2nd to 3rd gear.

I own a 2013 GT premium with the real pack I think I made the right decision it to have the upgraded 3.73 gears and Boss components that being the oil cooler and over sized radiator and Boss differential. I’m older so I chose the comfort package my seats are black but has a cashmere color stripe. I live in Florida and their worn a bit like your moms even tho garage kept. The door panel on this track pak is nicer than the reg premium, it has the flat leather and the horse emblem. If you compared the track pack to the base I could see the comparison being a bit different. Add on’s on the base is the way to go. One of the videos recently you been eyeing the S550 don’t do it man lol I love the retro and the S550’s I feel just went in a different direction I love the patronage tribute to the old mustang. Anyways newer sub here keep up the good work.

I have a 2012 Ford mustang. I bought a set of hood struts from American Muscle and installed them on my car. Cost $90.00. I love them! I agree, the prop rod makes it look like crap and cheap. Ford can't afford to put hood struts on mustangs when they cost upwards to $50,000? Go figure.
