I know this is an older video, and chances are you won't see my comment, but this video here was the 1st one I saw of yours, and it's the one that got me hooked on your channel! Thanks for all you do! Happy quilting!
I made the mosaic after watching your video with an 1895 watercolor layer cake. It’s simply beautiful. My quilter said she was amazed at the uniformity of the black strips! I told her it was a compliment to Donna Jordan! You rock!! Both my girls love it so I suppose I’ll be making another one! I can’t express my gratitude.
I prefer the one with the sashing I was thinking to myself when you showed the quilt at the beginning that I thought it would look better with sashing. When I saw it at the end of the video with the sashing it confirmed it for me!
I cannot watch your tutorials too much. As an intermediate beginner, you make everything look so accomplishable. You are truly an incredible teacher.. An, I cannot begin to thank you enough for making your tutorials accessible. Thank you
Definately the sashing. When I saw your finished quilt, I thought: "beautiful, yes - but I bet it would be even better with black sashing." and then you brought out the second quilt and I melted. How perfect.
You have stop making videos! I can't possibly make them all and every quilt is amazing. And really don't stop. Your teaching is the best. So inspiring!
WITH SASHING. As you were laying it out, I was yearning for you to add the sashing. It makes it seem more "finished" in my humble opinion. This is such a grand pattern! It could be used with almost any layer cake and one could always change the color of thE sashing.
Love them both but sashing definition seems to add the finishing touch. Donna, you are a joy to watch! Thank you for the passion you bring to every tutorial!
I’m so glad you decided to do this!! I love them both, but I like the one with the sashing between the blocks. Thanks for the encouragement and pattern!!!

I love both quilts, but I think I prefer the one with the sashing. Hard to decide because they’re both gorgeous. This pattern definitely has gone on my bucket list. Donna, it is lovely of you and your team to offer these free patterns. Thank you for your generosity.
Both of your quilts are beautiful, but the one with sashing just stands out so much more! Thank you for all of your tutorials and your beautiful free patterns!
I really like both or your quilts, but the one with the sashing just takes it to another level! Thanks as always for your beautiful quilts and being such a great teacher. I never miss a video.
I love both of them, but I agree the one with sashing looks more like stain glass. Perhaps the colors you use might matter in the choice to sash or not.
I prefer the one with the sashings around all the blocks. It looks more finished and I love the stained glass effect it creates. Both are beautiful quilts, and I love how easy you've made them for us to make!
Thanks for the idea!!! Have an adult granddaughter who loves the Boho look. I have been collecting Kaffe Fassette fabrics to mane her a quilt for awhile now. I have seen this video before and not until I read your comment did I think how perfect this pattern would be using these fabrics for my granddaughter’s 16:51 ! Thank you bunches.
@@mofolk8896 I’m so excited over this idea that I can’t wait to get started on her quilt. Thank you so much for the inspiration and I actually can’t thank you enough. The timing is pretty good too because today is the day I finish putting the borders on our oldest sons quilt Kevin just became a paramedic so this quilt is to. It’s a surprise for him and it’s to honor his accomplishment. I was able to find quite a few different paramedic, EMT, first responders and firefighters fabrics. Kevin started out as a volunteer firefighter then progressed through his became an EMT. There was another phase that I forgot and now just completed just completed his paramedic Along with that surprise for him well accomplishment, he was just honored with being made captain at the fire station. Both quilts are beautiful, but I am really drawn to the second quilt with the sashing. The layer cake you used in that one is gorgeous. Thanks for another great pattern and all you do to promote the art of quilt making.
They're both so different, hardly believe it's the same pattern! This looks like a difficult quilt, but it's one of your easier ones. Thank you so much for teaching us Donna! 🌟
Definitely love this and it's an easy pattern to remember. Thankyou. I would add washing as I was thinking all the way through that it would look lovely.
I like the sashing between each block the best, but you really can't go wrong because both are beautiful! OH and I love that gorgeous give away quilt!!
I like both quilts, but must lean towards the one with the sashing for the best portrayal of stained glass. I can’t wait for the kit to arrive! Thank you so much for your wonderful, peaceful and very educational quilting videos. You are by far the best!
OH STOP!!!!! This is EXACTLY the quilt I’ve been searching for for a layer cake I have. Thank You, Both quilts are unique because of the fabric choices, but I tend to lean toward the one that is sashed! I’ll find a good sashing fabric and get to work!
Loved the video! My favorite is the one that has black smashing between the blocks! I really like how you rationalize the color of the thread and the quilting itself. I am learning a lot! Thank you!
They're both absolutely gorgeous! I think I also prefer the one with the sashing. Even though it's an abstract mosaic look, I think the sashing brings it all together just a bit more.

Both of these quilts are beautiful, but I really like the one with the sashing. It’s not just for the sashing, but the colors are so attractive together. Great video!
Love both versions for different reasons. With sashing, looks like stain glass of course, but no sashing, looks like a modern art piece. Can’t pick a favorite. Love them both. ❤️ As always, thanks for the tutorial. 😉
I made several of these some years ago... It's a blast! When you need something easy and don't want to have to spend a lot of brain power. Goes together so quickly and is sooooo satisfying! Do it!!!

Gosh, Donna, you sure are the best quilter on UA-cam! Never disappoint with great ideas and great teaching. And great camera and editing by your son! I really like both quilts. I think the first one tho, it’s not so blocked out. Your eye easily flows throughout the colors on the first one. Thanks!
I love them both. However, if I had to pick just one I would pick the quilt with the washing. Thank you so very much for sharing your design. Happy Quilting
Fell in love with this when you first showed it and actually requested you do a tutorial on this quilt. The quilt with the sashing is more my style but the other is gorgeous as well. Thanks for another tutorial for an amazing quilt.

Thank you for breaking down the pattern. I’m in the process of making one now. I love the brighter colors and no sashings. Everything just flows. Absolutely breathtaking!
This quilt design is great and looks so simple to make when Donna shows you how! I'm going to do it with extra black sashing strips between each block. It'll look more like stained glass windows. Can't wait to try it! Thanks, Donna. You rock!

Donna, I like all your tutorials & the fabrics you choose, but my favorite pattern for this tutorial is with the sashing. Thank you for all you and Matt have done for the quilting community! ❤️
Aside from the fact that I really love the greens and browns more, over the brighter colors in this quilt. I think the sashing just adds an extra bit of cohesiveness and pizzazz to each block. The sashing contributes to the stained glass illusion. Beautiful quilts. Thanks for your amazing tutorials!
I prefer the quilt with the sashing. Love your show.
Thanks Donna! They each have their own artistic merits. With sashing looks more formal, sans-sashing has a bohemian flair. Another great tutorial! 😺
