    Thank you!!! I have white/silver and recently due to using toners -- I used Ion snow cap (turn my white hair ashy grey), and tried icy white (turned my white hair cornflower blue) / used 20 vol on both. Due to I hated both colors, I had to try and go to the highest neutral blonde lift possible. It came out nice, but I loved the white/silver that was natural - now I seem to get yellow very fast, even though I use a purple shampoo (maybe it is my hard water)? I recently used Age Beautiful Top Coat Toner Pearl Blonde. Worked well, reduced the yellow in the places with it and made my silver/white brighter. I think I will try your Redken solution next. I do not want any ash in my hair. I love the white/silver look. If you have any advice, it is more than welcome. I am naturally a level 10. Thankful I found your video on this topic. Thanks again.

      Hi there, thanks for watching…and you’re most welcome!
      Sounds like you’ve had some great formulas there for sure. I would suggest making sure you have Clear in any Shades EQ Gloss formula you got for, at least 2 parts Clear - remembering the cooler (violet would be my go to for “icy”) you take hair, the deeper it looks.
      I have an upcoming video that has 2 icy SEQG formulas comparisons in it…

      Sorry to butt in, but I'm going to anyway. You want icy white or icy silver? I JUST made mine a white/silver, and I found the level 10Vv was TOO pigmented, but the 09V with 2 parts clear, is CHEF'S KISS!. I toned with that first. Then, I checked the result. It was a gorgeous WHITE PEARL, so I decided to try to get that SILVER pop, and just put the Watercolors Metallic Silver shampoo on for 3 minutes, and rinsed, and it is SO pretty, The Shades takes out that yellow, and the Metallic silver shampoo is so sheer, it offers a nice reflective sheen until I think it needs it again. Heat protection and rest from hot tools keep me in the Arctic foxy babe category for longer.

    Q: 😁 I have natural level 6 ashier hair. 20 v lightened foiled hair highlights that are starting to show more yellowish tones. Can I use the 9v gloss toner with 2 parts clear and get the yellowish tones out? (1 part 9v to 2 parts clear)? If possible im definitely going to suggest this to my colorist. Thank you! The different blonde shades look amazing!

    • @theworldofcraig

      You sure could do - just be aware that “cooling” a blonde down will make it appear a little deeper as cooler results absorb more light.

    How would you go about toning icy results like this in multi-tonal hair? I find the highlights come out great, and fresh lowlights done with an ash based dye do as well, but then I'm left with warmth in the base (level 8 & 9).

As Im getting aged~i think Im helluva lot wiser & no so hardheaded… ANYWAY.. Who’d think when a true blonde ages the Roots become Darker not White.. Ive been wanting to let nature take its course & leave dark(er) roots & tone my Blonde (mid~ends) to get rid of Yellow/Brass. My darker roots ive realized ‘become’ coppery all due to ONE lethal concoction & that is “Mineral Buildup” from our well water!! Okay....yeah...I'm going to admit that, although I was able to do a pretty fantabulous DIY light blonde on myself, I've NEVER been successful in my attempts to take my light blonde to an ICY blonde. SO frustrating! My natural color is a 2, with GOD-AWFUL red undertones which I have to fight off like the dickens...Maybe THAT's why I've had major issues going icy?? 😕

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  Рік тому +3

      I’m sure it’s frustrating after your fab light blonde creation. The reality is that a very light canvas on a level 2 base would be incredibly hard to for a pro to achieve, so I wouldn’t be hard on yourself….I would advise against it, even if it was a client in the salon. Ava (in the video) is a natural level 7, with very pale blue eyes, her hair lifts easily. If fact, I don’t think I’ve ever taken a level 2 base icy.

      Im 🤍 💜’ing your Videos @theworldofcraig❣️ Ive Not yet found on “Any” site (not referring to just your YT) the Utmost importance of starting off w/a clean palette by Ridding hair of Chemicals& “Minerals” from 🔥 associated w/ well water or the such. I realize when its time for a New/Replacement water filter NOT by Months usage or by Co.’s standards but my blonde Hair that turns so unGodly Bronze! 🫣Ive been doing my hair for YearS now as my favorite hairstylist for decade(s) passed & then his replacement retired🙄Both Men were Hairstylists I had Modeled for in Hair Shows using Chaz/Sebastian Products & (1) was “Wahl” man who’d cut Ladies hair w/Clippers! So Ive clearly seen/or had my hair. Dyed/chopped {but never added hair😏} this was clearly 90’s~preCOVID! The one thing i always lookeD for in hairstylist?
      For them to simply ASK “1” Very Important question.. “What type of Water do you have?!” & IF Well Water?? This IS the #1 use of a chelating (?) treatment no matter WHAT shade of Blonde sits before you. Its soo important! Even My 2yr old “true Blonde” Granddaughter gets use of “Redkens’ hair cleansing Cream” 1X a week! Its soo important! I never realized HOW damaging it IS to all Blondes 👱‍♀️ UNTIL my Best Friend had ALL of her blonde hair literally MELT while a stylist left her under a dryer w/Bleach on hair/scalp & burning like 🔥2yrs later & she still wears a Wig/hair extension. No apologies for Ruining {not ‘just’ her hair} but her confidence. This cost her $200+ to ruin her hair w/OUT any recourse or suggestions. Ive personally spent hundreds myself just buying her Hair Serums & Any growth products to help, to NO avail😢i know she needs Not wear a wig/extension as its more damaging BUT.. Its pretty bad😥 Im sorry i went off on tangent..
      I Do have a question(S) among the novel written here🫤 What do You suggest for those with Heavy Mineral Build-Up (whether well water or whatever) ..I would bet lots 💵 💰 lots of hair dying/color wouldnt be so frequent IF people were aware of impact minerals cause & how to strip those chemicals/minerals. Do You have any such Water Filters & or Products you absolutely love or suggest? Ive used many clarifying Shampoos that strip more than Minerals & dry Hair. I currently use Redken Weekly & No Drying or Stripping. As You know its Hard & Timely to “Add” Hair Color while stripping of Old chemicals/Minerals. Its ALOT for us Blondes to Have to do

    I use shades EQ, and I find I’m often getting a dingy ashy look on my level 9’s. But I will admit I’m not using a 09v alone because I’ve always been afraid of getting to much violet. So I tend to add 09P too. Have you struggled in the past with the constant concern of the end result being dingy and not a beautiful ashy blonde? Any suggestions on how to be more confident when toning to that beautiful ashy color with shades EQ?

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  Рік тому +10

      Hi Tiffany, thanks for watching. So my go-to would be 9V + Clear 1:2 on a level 9 - that is if you’re def working on a 9…here’s my thoughts. All you have to “neutralise” at that level is yellow/gold - 9P has (the whole P series) grey/blue/violet. Blue + yellow = green…and grey is made from black + white, so both of those things go towards making your result “dingy”. I see folks using the P’s a lot and they are FAB but I would only use on very light canvases, in moderation or at deeper levels to cancel out orange/violet (which is what they were formulated for originally). For the purest/ZINGY blondes as in the video, don’t over think it…that’s hoping you watched the video, ha - there is all this info in there…

      Just add some N or GI to your formula and even clear as well if needed. Brightness comes from yellow so you want SOME warmth in the formula.

  • @mh11182
    @mh11182 2 місяці тому

    Lovely results but what if I want slightly more natural color result without being too ashy or too gold?. Do I just mix equal parts of violet and gold toner? I’m at level 9.5-10 already and having a hard time finding the right toner that will cancel out the brassiness and also give me a creamy blonde, somewhere in the middle of ash and gold. My skin is fair and cool toned so I can’t do anything too warm.

      @theworldofcraig  2 місяці тому

      So there’s a lot to it, it’s very nuanced - what you think is not “too ashy…too gold” isn’t what I’ll interpret it as. I would suggest having a look at the playlist titled “Toning” here on my channel.

If I remember correctly - I make A LOT of content - that is a form of “bleach bath”, that’s my preferred method for removing unwanted tones from the hair….it does of course depend on many factors and it’s my go-to as I know what’s been used on the hair previously. Most (not all) of the ammonia based colour removers contain some form of bleaching agent.

    Craig, thank you so much for the info! Love your videos! I’m moving away from using Wella T-18, and have some Pravana express tones Clear, Violet, and Pearl. Could I do a formula similar to the one here using Pearl instead of Smokey Silver and achieve a similar result? What ratios would you use? I’m looking for bright platinum but not quite as silver as your example.

      Hi Alex, thanks for watching and your kind words. From what I can remember (I make A LOT of content!) that formula was Clear/Violet 4:1:and a touch of Pearl - it’s not as “silver” as it looks on the thumbnail but it’s more “icy”…of course all colour is subjective. Tricky for me to give out exact personal formulas with actually seeing the “canvas” it’s going on to.

My hair is obviously bleached there but naturally is around level 3 or 4. For toning, my thought was to do a formulation like you mentioned: clear and violet, with a touch of pearl. Hi there, thanks for watching. What fabulous gifts! You certainly could do this - I haven’t seen the formula for the LP product, so I can only advise on K18. The K18 line doesn’t use protein to strengthen the hair, it uses a unique peptide…so it won’t overload the hair or make it brittle. As the LP treatment won’t do the same thing as K18 mask I’m pretty sure (without seeing the former) after 4 minutes you could apply over the top.

      @@theworldofcraig I have watched a few videos and the swatches or person is not of diverse hair texture. I do my wife's hair and she has two different curl patterns and different porosity as well. And she wants Storm white hair but I say silver frost first.

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  Рік тому +3

      I see, thanks for clarifying. I would suggest that the hair be as tangle free as possible before starting toner application - and for sure I would suggest using more Clear in any formula you create. This should give you a little more time to apply whichever product you are using to add colour. The curl pattern doesn’t really effect actual shade choice it’s more application. And of course if you want that super white/light result, the hair needs to be very, very pale before adding tone - so if the hair is already porous be very careful with any lightening. I hope that’s helpful, good luck.

I have used that shade 10.6 and did not get a really satisfactory result, besides I saw no violet at all, neither in the product itself when it starts to oxidise nor in the final result,which makes me wonder why some toners/permanent colours turn really violet when oxidatiion begins (for example, one of the most popular ones, wella T.18 turns deep purple when developing ( I mean the product itself) and colour touch barely changes at all. No matter what CT shade you use (I have tried quite a few, 10.81, 10.6, 9.86...) they all have the same colour when developing, kind of a creamy beige, as if they weren't really pigmented...Besides, the final result is so similar with all the tones I mentioned earlier.

      @@keanux it would depend on the canvas you’re applying it to - if there’s a lot of gold/yellow, you won’t see the violet…it’ll be “used up” on “cancelling” that out. Color Touch is a mix of both direct dye (a stain that sits on the hairs surface) and oxidative dye (this goes into the hair slightly) - T18 contains ammonia, it’s all oxidative dye and has the “energy” to lift as well as deposit deep within the hair….that’s why it develops with a strong violet tone.
