    I think there's an error here, it was explicitly mentioned that all the events of Darksiders 2 were unsanctioned by the Charred Council and thus Death couldn't take the Harvester, therefore he went to Vulgrim to get a new pair of scythes as told in the Graphic novels

    • @BlankEmporium

      That's not about Darksiders 2, but for a comic where Death goes to Earth hunting an Angel for Abaddon. Though it does bring up the question of how Death got Harvester before Darksiders 2.

    I feel like Vulgrim is slowly building up massive amounts of power, his knowledge grows all the time and the apocalypse has brought him alot of opportunity to gain things that could have been hard to get beforehand, in the first game he is fed more than 10,000 souls by war and in the second game he is given the entire book of the dead, if souls power so much in the games and if Vulgrim is a master of the dark arts, all this knowledge and energy would make him very strong, what he's going to do with all this power I don't know but I'm wondering if we'll see him make a double cross or even a save for the Horsemen near the end of the story (assuming all the horsemen will get their own game and maybe a 5th game with all 4 of them.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 років тому +3

      Yeah we could definitely see this happening but at the moment we really don't know what will happen. :) Though if THQ Nordic continues the way OG THQ was going to, that is exactly what will happen when it comes to games. There will be 4, one for each horseman and then a 5th 4 player co-op.

    The unstoppable rage mode War goes into while in battle I believe is inferred to be the weapon's doing (the blade is said to have a will of it's own and is said to be "angry" and "thirst for destruction" as well as being "cursed"). In the Darksiders Wrath of War pre-order comic the Charred Council ponder whether the blade will consume War when returning the blade to him after his tantrum that cost him his left arm at the hands of his brother Death to save Fury from War's rampage *"Chaoseater. The cursed blade. Eater of Souls. Can it be mastered... or will it destroy him?"*.
    I am pretty sure Chaoseater was made by Death or one of the other Nephilim smiths like Affliction and Harvester were... but to be fair I thought this of Scorn too since it was also a shape shifting weapon like Harvester but now they say in Darksiders 3 that it was made by the Mad Smith, which I find a bit out of left field (though he probably made the Abyssal Armor for each Horsemen too so I guess it kinda fits).

      Thanks to their hybrid nature, half demon and half angel, their body are unstable and capable of level of power far greater then any other angelic or demonic beeing. Also the has some problem because of this instability that may create some mental stress and could make them more aggressive. Furthermore, they acquire their caotic form in which they are almost unstoppable but that kind of power is unstable and cannot been mainteined for long period of times.

      I think the same thing. Ever since the first Darksiders I was like "this guy is going to be trouble later". In DS2 I had a feeling he was going to sell me a weapon that hurt me in some way. I think he will be a great enemy in DS5. Like let's get 4 and conclude most of the story then at the end the horseman are all gathered and hear a voice saying "you ruined my plans, fine you also made me stronger than you" or something like that and that's when you have to use all 4 to beat him in DS5.

      Darksiders III SPOILERS inbound:
      He seems much like the true Envy but even more patient and calculated. I'm sure, the artifacts of the Lost Legion from the first game, the pages of the Book of the Dead and the Ferryman Tokens from the second game and of course all the souls he greedily absorbed over the course of all three (potentially four) games will in some ways play huge roles in making him one of the most powerful threats so far... or a surprise ally and/or the fifth playable character - who knows! Both the harvester and the chaoseater also obey their masters so it could be arguied its simple the sentient weapon obeying them. It is confirmed in the Abomination Vault that the only way anything can be truly destroyed, is by casting it into Oblivion, which also the heaviest sentence the Council can give, destroying someone absolutely. So whatever The Lord of Hollows does or what happens to souls devoured by demons and the like, they aren't destroyed and most likely will return to the Well of the Souls eventually.
    But I do wonder if the souls that Vulgrim devours, that are collected through out the game, are really the "complete souls of the death" or just "soul pieces left behind", this seeing how even lantern poles releases souls when destroyed. The soul piece idea would also explain why souls of the dead has such a long process to pass through the city of the Dead. As it would mean the souls has to be cleansed of memory and the damage repaired.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 років тому +1

      I don't think being tossed into Oblivion destroys you... you are just tossed from Creation and can never be reborn anew from the Well of Souls... plus what is even more terrifying is you remain conscious and alive while within that timeless realm of nothingness (I think that was implied in the book but I could be miss-remembering).
      If you have played Darksiders 3 the new Lord of Hollows can perform the "Hollowing" and that does actually destroy ones soul absolutely (destroys immortal souls so that they can never pass through the Well of Souls and be reborn anew).

    While the novel does establish that the Harvester can shapeshift at Death's will and I too thought that at least his scythes in the game are variations of it, the Darksiders II comic "Deaths Door" makes it much more clear that Death doesn't use the Harvester for some undisclosed reason except for when he is in his Reaper Form.
    To clarify: In the comic, he visits a particular demon meddler not unrelated to this video and asks for a pair of scythes he can use on a mission not sanctioned by the Council. For the price of a Hydra's tongue he gets them. That and the fact that Death acquires all of his weapons by picking them up from enemies, bosses and/or chests, that there are legendary and possesed ones among them and that they all vary hugely in power leads me to think that none of them are the Harvester and are instead simply weapons he picks up and uses. *Edit:* Shit, you even mention that point... that's weird...
    *Edit 2:* Since you referenced the Abomination Vault so often in the early parts of this video, I found it a bit disappointing that you didn't mention the supernatural, living, self-reloading revolver from that story when you talked about Strife's weaponry. It's been a while since I last read the novel but as I remember its endless supply of ammunition came from unnatural, sharp teeth constantly being pulled from another dimension. I'm not sure whether or not this is one of the two weapons of choice Strife uses but at least there are parallels and similarities.
    *Edit 3:* Now that Darksiders III is out and we know all the different forms Fury's weapon assumes, how the Hollows play into it etc. and with some of the very insightful comments (hopefully including mine) on this video, would you consider doing a version 2.0 of this video with the added information?
    *Edit 4:* I don't know how much can be said about them but it feels weird that you didn't mention the Serpent Holes, Vulgrim's preferred method of travel. I think they're extremely interesting and it's very intriguing how Samael is also able to use them but his look samey but very different - less structured with lots of useless floor and most notably a completely different tint of the skybox, implying that the abilities of the user define how that dimension takes shape.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  5 років тому

      Regarding Edit 2: We didn't mention that gun because there is no evidence that Strife has ever gotten his hands on it. (But we do have a video on the Grand Abominations, in which we go over that gun)
      Regarding Edit 3: Possibly? We have a few of these with new information, but we probably won't get around to them until newer Darksiders content requests have been worked through.
      Regarding Edit 4: Mostly we didn't reference the Serpent Holes because they're not a power, ability, etc. that are possessed by Vulgrim alone, as you mention Samael can use them, so can the Horsemaster of the far fields, so presumably plenty of people can use them.
      Also thanks for your solid input!

    Awesome videos, i love this series. My thoughts on the weapons the 4 use is this. The 4 represent different points of turmoil whether it be from within our an outward force coming upon them and I find it interesting as to how Vigil is releasing them in the order they are (or maybe I'm delving too deeply) as War is first, and this unleashes Armageddon or the Great War. Death comes next to save the deaths of humanity by giving his life. Fury, my thoughts on this is episode has more to do with the horsemen gaining more knowledge on the REAL puppetmasters behind the conspiracy that saw the leader of the hellguard fall to ruin and the imprisonment of the most honorable of the 4 and thus enduring the fury of the 4. Then Strife, will have the 4 wage their own war upon the one we are waiting to see step out from behind the curtain and strife from the 4 will be wrought unto them. Now coming back to the weapons, each weapon saps the essence of the horseman's entity and fuels what they represent

      Understandable and certainly a potentially correct view. With one thing being slightly off course. According to the original plan from the THQ staff they wanted a total of 5 games. 1.War, 2. Death, 3. Fury, 4. Strife, And 5. a 4 player Co-op game following the end of Darksiders 1 where the 4 housemen would ride against a combined threat. We believe Strife's game will actually take place before all 3 of his brother's and sister and explain (HOPEFULLY!) what happened to him though that is purely conjecture on our part. As far we know THQ Nordic wants to keep to that same original plan for 5 games. (at least we hope they do. )

      Game Informer recently released an interview with the head of Gunfire where he states that they would like to do a fourth game. He said that much of development for DS3 was spent on rebuilding things in UE4, and along with DS being a passion of his, not making another game would be a waste of all that time and effort. This indicates that we will likely get at least one more game, though I find it more likely that they will stick with the original plan they had back at Vigil. Plus, it would be a shame to see Strife be denied the same focus that the other three have been given.

      Thanks for the responses!! And you're very right. I had listed these thoughts several years after my initial process of it all and honestly it would only suit the series to have 5 games and hopefully it would be just as fun in depth and intriguing as they have with the first 2. I'm utterly in love with the approach and the story of this series and the artwork is amazing. I get some of the issues with gameplay and in game stuff but I feel those could get overlooked if the team succeeds in bringing those other 3 aspects to all of the games, while hopefully ironing out the issues of course. My only other intrigue woukd be of Samael, he's thanks intriguing character other then say the horsemen...yes, even more than Lucifer though he would be third because I seriously thought that the Destroyer was the Lucifer of the universe....how blissfully wrong I was.

    I think there's a strong indication that Strife gave his weapon to the Makers after Humans left Haven with Fury that can assist his brothers (notably War) somehow. Though the timeline maybe a bit confusing for now, it is a theory we can't set aside imo

      Btw something i thought was that maybe their weapons were grand abominations but like weak ones. After all war's sword is said to be thirsty for destruction if I remember correct. Both the harvester and the chaoseater also obey their masters so it could be arguied its simple the sentient weapon obeying them. It would also explain why the harvester can turn into so many weapons.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 років тому

      Thanks for the lore request :)
      The Abomination Vault novel specifically mentions that Harvester is not a Grand Abomination, and the other three Nephilim, (War, Fury, Strife) didn't even know they existed. So we presume that none of their weapons are abominations either.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons

      That is our running theory, that Strife's game (presumably ending in his death) takes place before the rest of the games, meaning that in Darksiders 1, 2, and 3 he'd be dead. But that's just our theory.
      Also yes, at the end of Darksiders 2 it straight up tells us that Death will rise again, presumably meaning all of the horsemen (Who we see being summoned at the end of Darksiders 1) will also rise from their graves should they die.
