Sinister Heroes posts a video and I immediately have a better morning at work.

Now that you talk about having summoned friends, a summon themed sorcerer would really be cool

This is my favorite wizard subclass. So much potential.

You must be a creative player. This is one of those subclasses that greatly rewards players for their creativity.
Actually you gotta have some courage cus it’s such a high like skill cap, I guess, cus with out a lot of tricks to pull off this class is very difficult.

    Please advise:
My brother and I are playing BG3 and created a CheatTable of Conjurations, Familiars, and Summons.
We got into some sticky territory separating them. I understand it won’t be 100% sharp edges but is there an understanding what makes a Conjuration different from a Summon or Familiar??

    • @FuriousTortoise
      @FuriousTortoise 3 місяці тому +1

      TLDR…
      Summon:
      Teleport/Command
      Conjuration:
      Transmogrify/Command
      Familiar:
      Teleport/Transmogrify/Command
A Summon is a creature (humanoid/beast/fey/fiend/elemental) bound to the summoner. They existed on a plane of existence before our intervention bringing them under our command. Teleport/Command.
A Conjuration is a bit more broad than the others as it can be a mindless automaton, creature, or construct but they were CREATED ANEW at least in large part on their uniquely formulated and bound will-not a pact with a creature. Furthermore, conjurations did NOT exist on its own without these Transmogrifications. Teleport/Transmogrify/Command.
A summoned Familiar is a bit of both. Maybe they existed in another plane in another form (demonic/angelic/spirit/etc) but now takes the from of a creature in our plane like a “cat”. They were not and are not a “natural cat” but takes on the appearance/characteristics of one while retaining magical powers.

Ok a conjuration usually makes a non living entity. A golem or something like that, that’s why they are usually considered constructs and not humanoids. A summon is usually just what ever the thing is, like an elemental or a fiend. Now a familiar is a little different. A familiar is a spirit. Now this spirit does not speak. Not in the traditional sense. It is just a supportive entity. So this spirit can come from basically anywhere. The only restriction is what you and your DM decide.

@@TheSinisterheroes thank you so much! I feel like our “house rules” more or less align with what you said.

Liam played a Transmutation wizard, not a conjuration. Caleb just used find familiar a lot because of trauma and needed a therapy cat.

@@TheSinisterheroes Hey its an easy mistake to make especially at his lower levels. He did inspire me to try other subclasses than evocation though XD Sculpt spells are just too good in my opinion. Love throwing fireballs at my friends watching them freak out forgetting they wont take damage XD

This is a very complicated class you most definitely need a lot of creativity to use this subclass I personally am not interested in ever using this subclass but feel free to use it as you please for those interested

I can see that it’s like illusion it’s a huge curve of creativity and dm being ok with it. I like cool tricks but I’d have to really do my homework with this one.

@@TheSinisterheroes he used the class abilities to their maximum efficiency everytime we needed something we didn’t have he would conjure it up. I think my favorite instance was him stuffing a lock with clay and they pulling it out then conjuring the key because he technically saw the key.

Another wizard concept I have set up to play, eventually. Having a rogue that uses minor conjuration to have almost any item handy at will.
Like a tanglefoot grenade, or acid/fire vials to throw, etc…
Mundane items like tools, chains, manticles (the cuffs/restraints) are easily very useful as well.

If you actually read what items can do, you get some crazy stuff. I mean even manacles are hard to get out of. There’s a guy I play with that is just nasty with mundane items, he really opened my eyes to it.
