This is a great idea, especially for me as I live in Australia and when I’m watching videos with overseas groceries I find it hard to find the right ingredients and for the right prices. I don’t have a large family but I bulk cook to freeze meals for after school and nights when I’m working late. Thanks so much.

Jodi Crouch Hey Jodi, I’m from Australia and still a bit new with filming my own videos but just thought I’ll comment and let you know as I too much prefer to watch Australian cooking channels/videos just so much easier since our ingredients can sometimes be so different to other countries! ☺️

Damn that's awesome was sitting here watching with my partner and not realising Coles had such a great affordable range!! I was also thinking this recipe (minus the pasta) would make a.perfect chicken pie!!! It's also great seeing An Australian channel with brands that we can get!! Can't wait for the next one. Pls keep up the awesome content

From Melbourne, It is always a good idea to look on the bottom shelf for cheaper items. Also, I find at aldi I can get some organic things like pastas and sauces cheaper than what I would find for the brand names at Woolies or Coles.

I made this meal, but I’m in Florida, US and I don’t think we have the chicken and corn soup. I used cream of chicken soup and I made half the recipe for 6-10 people. It’s just my husband and I so I’m going to have leftovers for awhile. It turned out really yummy. Hubby hasn’t tried it yet, so more for me!

For left overs, I use sandwich size zip lock bags work well for a one person meal. I label it with the date made and what's in it. I scoop food in, then partially zip shut the bag and squeeze as much air out as possible. That way its flatter and takes up less space in my freezer. I also, found buying diced meat expensive, so I buy a good sized roast (beef, pork, chicken, lamb) and cut it up at home (yes, I too, cut it up small) and put what amount I would use for example: soup, curry, casserole's, stir fry, etc... into a labelled zip lock bags and push out as much air as possible to save on freezer space. The meat used in roasts is of better quality than the cheap meat cuts you get in store bought diced meats. Much more tender, I think. I also, check the reduced meat section at the grocery store to save more money. When I buy beef mince, I split up the (approx. 700kg or 900kg) package of mince into four portions in labelled zip lock bags, flatten them with air pushed out. I buy apples cut them up and bag them also to freeze. I freeze bananas for future use in cakes and bread. When I don't have canned soups, I always have cup of soup on hand to use instead (again a space saver). I also, make my own yeast breads by hand, its so easy and yummy. When I make yeast bread, I also, make two large pizzas, one large loaf, and cinnamon rolls in one batch. Almost daily, I make a quick bread, its always American Southern Biscuits (they're like a savoury scone, sort of) so easy, quick and done in 20min. Best warm just baked with margarine/butter, any time of day! Kids love to grab n go with them. I love making tortillas from scratch too, for Mexican wraps night. I too, don't use a microwave either. I live in the UK, have seven children, with now only two teenagers at home.

    • @TheBonellFamily

Yes, I often buy roasts to cut up, it's a cheap way compared to the already prepped meats. ;-) Lots of great tips in your comment. thanks

There is something like Brocoli Rice Casserole- Cooked rice, can of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken or cream of asparagus, shredded tasty/sharp cheese, chopped onion, and brocoli florets in small pieces. Mix together and bake. You can add cooked chicken or tinned tuna, cut into small pieces .

I always try to support Australia first if possible, and also have to buy gluten free, lactose free, and so many other food restrictions, so supermarket brands rarely works for my family anyway, and I have to cook a lot from scratch.

Love this meal. ❤️ this would cost me more in NZ though. For example pasta would be 95 c each, mixed vege $2.19 the cheapest, cheese would be more expensive and def the chicken also. Tinned soups I don't buy as they are too expensive, but you could make a yummy white cheese sauce and add homemade chicken broth for flavour and avoid buying tinned soups. We have six children here and many heaven babies 😢and have learned to cook healthy and economically over the years. Keep up the great job 😀😀

I love your channel my son is a funny eater he will eat what he fancies he was never like that but with him having bronchitis and lost loads of weight he will perhaps have toasties one night for a meal at a full meal the next night. I don't mind at least he's having something to eat I perhaps do a shaphards pie and portion what's left over into 3 portions for when j want an easy tea I saw your sausage recipes and our sausages are half the size of your sausages but we do have thin link sausages and thick pork Lincolnshire sausage and an other type of sausage I love a thick pork sausage but you've gave me some ideas what to make with sausage so thank you love fran xxxx

I would do this with a whole chicken put in the pressure cooker, when they go on sale for $3.90kg. Just watching all your old videos.

Hi Lynn 👋 I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….
