Hey Cody, use Belly Soap, made by the same people who make WashWax All. It takes the black streaks right off. Also, gey about 8" to 10" of 1.25" clear vinyl hose and put on your downspouts to keep the rain water off the side of the RV, works great. Just remember to take them off before you travel. Great videos!!
Cody, I use to claybar my old 2004 Freightliner Coronado front to back top to bottom and then 2 coats of Maguires... That truck still looks good to this day! Sold it 5 years ago.. Owner still takes care of it! so much easier to keep a waxed surface clean instead of trying to catch up...Tolls???? 275$!!!! Try 8 axles on the east coast and heavy , Wide, Tall, permits..... 1,000's... That's truckin!! Stay safe!
The easy coast is so expensive. In our first year we were headed back from Maine and stopped in NJ to see some family. When we left NJ form Jackson down to Maryland between the NJ Turnpike, the Delaware memorial bridge and the 95 in Delaware,,,,with Pam following me in a Mazda with me driving the 5ver...it was like $75 in tolls to go 125 miles.
I never knew about the clay bars! That cap looks fantastic! Something to try on the slideouts to prevent black marks from the seals: Clean the slideout walls and seals Put talcum powder on a rag and wipe down the seals Spray silicon on the walls and wipe down The walls will be slick and the seals dry and not sticky.
I’m definitely trying silicone spray on the walls. Great idea! I have used the powder before but it was kind of a nightmare when mixed with the slide seal lube. Thanks for sharing!
@@RVUntethered I cleaned the seals good to get the seal lube off and let them dry before I applied the talcum. So far, so good! If my luck changes in the future, I'll let you know.
Just $271 and some change - you did great then. Just moved a few years back out of Northern Virginia, which is considered the Metro Washington D.C. area and we know all to well the cost of tolls. Tolls in the Metro area fluctuate depending on time of day. You know the story, rush hour times the prices will go up and off peak times the prices will go down. So $271 is doing great. Been up and down the mid-Atlantic with an EZ Pass for years in every state that accepts the pass. Paid as much as $39 for a 26 mile trip = ONE WAY. So pat yourself on the back for actually keeping your toll cost down. - +1 and a THUMBS UP
You can buy wood, bamboo, or cornstarch disposable utensils these days. Durable enough to re-use but biodegradeable and cheap enough not to hurt. I use them as a compromise when I'm traveling without a kitchen sink.
We always make a pit stop about 30 miles or so out on long travel days too. It does make for a less stressful back in and set up process. We just discovered the wash wax all a couple of months ago. That stuff is amazing. The clay bar is interesting. We will put that in our arsenal. We got some other stuff from the wash wash all stuff but it seems liked it till a little bit of the finish off.
Joni and I switch every fuel fill as well. Never thought of using a clay bar. Our tolls for our NE trip this year were very comparable. I still don’t like them. Only 3 east coast states left we have to visit. Stay safe!
LA's Totally Awesome from the Dollar Tree gets those black streaks right off. I tried probably $100 worth of chemicals before caved and went to the Dollar Tree. I had a ton of black streaks on my Transcend 240ML and it looked brand new when I traded it in. Do it in 1ft or 2ft squares, that way it doesnt dry out on the RV.
I’m admit that I have heard several people mention Awesome. I was always scared of it for the RV, but a lot of people seem to have good luck with it. Thanks!
If you are going to travel through toll road states and you know you will travel in one state most you can get the device from that state, most states give some discount. So if you travel through the midwest Illinois would be a good one to get the device from. I am a firm believer that the states around Illinois that are not toll should set up a toll for Illinois licensed vehicles.
If you buy a non-contact infrared thermometer with a laser pointer in it, you get a fast way to compare all tire pressures (=heat) as well as checking wheels bearings, engine cooling, and even your forehead for fever. 😊
You can also use it in the kitchen to check the temperature of pans on the stove top. Really helpful if you are using nonstick cookware to avoid overheating.
You all are constantly a few weeks ahead of us, lol. We are leaving tomorrow in route to Mohryde in Elkhart, IN. Some day we will catch up with you guys.
On our similar route this year we only spent $160.34 in tolls. But by avoiding tolls going from Vermont to Niagara falls we lost a solar panel and a window on those wonderful New York roads. That cost us a little more.😁 I am not afraid of Alaska roads anymore on the bright side.
We have had about 5 times over pressure issues. I travel with 30 gallons of fresh water. I have water meters on both water intake. Fresh & Black tank flush tanks. And I DON’T LEAVE when I am doing the black tank flush tanks. Good job
Basically, two more axles doubles your exhorbitant tolls in the northeast. Ouch. And propane on board limits your access to bridges and tunnels, nationally, which can make for four hour detours or lay by's. Makes the tight quarters on an all electric ClassB a whole lot more attractive in the northeast.
Cody, thanks for the clay bar tip just ordered some from your Amazon store. Very nice recap of your northeast travel. Love the untethered sign, is it new? One question if I may what brand of front protector do you use on the truck?
Thank you so much! I got the Westin Ranch Hand brush guard, when we bought the truck. It wasn’t cheap, but I have always liked the style. I swear that it broke the streak on us hitting deer, with new vehicles!
We never push it on our fuel anymore. On a road trip in our Mini Cooper we passed an opportunity for fuel in New Mexico because our tank had 120 miles of fuel to cover 80 miles until the next available fuel. About 30 miles in we realized with hills and strong wind we were in trouble. We slowed down and Jim counted down miles left in the tank and I counted down the miles on gps. In the last ten miles the numbers calculated negative climbing a hill and gave us a positive on the downside. The sun was setting and we had no phone service. When we pulled into the gas station we had less than five miles left in the tank 😬 I feel sick again just telling the story. Oh and Jim loves those clay bars😊
