Excellent video! Thank you for making it!
I have a shout bobbin knotter that I have had for 10 years , it was the first knotter ever made to come out of Japan and invented by the heavy jigging guys looking at the best line to leader knot that would be able to be wound up through the guides . I have been using the PR knot for years and I still think it is a way better knot than the FG .
100% agree mate the fg is 90% the PR is 100% knot strength 🤙
Awesome tutorial mate, well filmed in steps and easy to understand. Just bought a bobbin and got one more to tie on my beach setup. I don't have bees wax, but, I'll try candle wax. Many thanks, cheers, BobbyB.
Thanks dude
Candle wax might do the trick but bees wax penetrates the knot and is tacky so stays on . Wax helps but not essential if you don't have any. More important is to have the knot tight and especially the half hitches at the end to stop the knot coming apart. Seriously the best line to leader knot ever.
Thanks Mark for taking the time to post videos in our lockdown. Keeps us guys going until we can get out.
Thanks for watching and commenting mate keeps me going
You’ve got yourself a subscriber mate. That was a clear and easily explained demonstration, thanks 👍
Thanks mate
Excellent!
Thanks for sharing buddy! 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching mate
Best video of the pr bobbin knot here. Thank you.
Thanks mate glad It helped
Good knot tutorial, ow about a run down of your fishing tools you use on the boat, or review pliers braid scissors.
will do mate
Yes , along wait alright lol . Bloody awesome dude
Practice mate i want videos please
Perfect bruv cracked the pr knot doubt I’ll go back to fg, thank u!
Awesome dude yeah small pr epic
Well explained!
Cheers mate
Very good. Love the wax thing, never done that or seen anime over here doing that. Just beeswax I guess?
Been tying pr’s for a while still have trouble with the bobber. Like the 6 wraps forward and then come back idea. Will try
Yeah mate will back it in smoother any wax will do it!! just got to keep trying them mate you will get it sorted sing out if i can help
wicked mate. Cheers for that.
Thanks mate
thanks for teaching us and so nice hummer
Cheers mate
Just completed my first ever PR knot so here's hoping I did it right on my kingfishing rig. Great tutorial to follow thank you
Great vid !
Thanks mate
Nice video.
Cheers mate
I'm happy to report that thanks to your videos, I've landed 7 foot sharks with this knot as well as giant Jack Crevalles. The pr knot is way easier to tie for me than the FG. Thank you Mark! If I come to Australia, can I buy you a pint?
Awesome brother that's wicked to here yeah pints it easy dude
Would you not want to set the knot down?? (Pull very hard either end to get braid to set into the mono) i feel like setting your knots in is very important to prevent any slippage, ive always done it to my knots. Not havin a dig at yah btw! Awesome video!!
Bruh Fish can do mate but never been a issue have never broken on me yet touch wood
Just subscribed. Gonna try this bro
Cheers brother yeah its mean knot stronge as
Awesome Mark, is the wax available from tackle shops mate? Cheers buddy.
dive shop will have it for dry suit zipper mate
i still prefer the FG Knot. Good tutorial though thanks!
Cheers dude
Very nice, question its it a good knot for very light braid?
I use right down to 10lb braid dude and it’s 100%
First off love the content! I named my dog Ive had for years, stella, because Ive had such success with the reels. Quick question, I want to set up my ultra light stella 1000fj with 10lb seagar braid to either 6 or 4 lb fluoro leader, for freshwater brown trout fishing. Would the PR knot work well for such light leader line?
Cheers dude. Am sure it will still work but I have not tried it that light!!!You will need to set the bobbin drag to very light
I like it
cheers
Hi Mark,
I wanted to thank you again for that PR Bobbin (Lockdown video) knot.
I had struggled in the past with both FG and PR Bobbin but I followed your exact methods and it was so easy. I have tied and used it many times over the last year. I caught gigantic jack crevalles, sharks, and tarpons with it and it was awesome!
I had a question that I thought you might know the answer to. Where does the name originate from for the knot? I could only find that PR stands for Page Ranking? But what is "Page Ranking" Was this a person or a description of the knot and where does it all come from?
Awesome dude thats great to here thanks mate 🙂
The funny thing for me is I can do the hard stuff now but it's difficult for me to tell if I'm alternating my half hitches correctly or not. I don't know why but it's confusing for me to alternate half hitches. So I have this problem with Bimini twist and others. But I make it work.
Alternating no biggu mate you don’t have to I am just use to it
How do you stop everything in both hand from horribly spinning? I end up with both the leader and braid very twisted
Not sure dude you just get use to it!
Do you use these for lighter soft bait setups? I've been tying FG knots with my 15lb braid setup which are awesome but hard to retie out on the kayak
I use LockDown PR on every set up mate
If you are struggling to retie an FG on the yak then a PR will be much harder lol
@@TryABaconSlice The main problem is using a lighter to melt the end of the leader.
@@mjw789234 I would definitely say that melting tag ends is not totally necessary if you are unable to do so. Just cinch it down as tight as possible and finish it with a ~10 turn rizzuto and it will hold regardless of being melted or not. On they fly you can even just scuff up the tag end a bit to increase surface area/grip if it were to slip.
Melting the tag is your last line of defense for slippage, not the thing which does the heavy lifting within the FG
Will this be ok for popping for yellow thin tuna
100% dude
Can you do tutorials on how you work your lures e.g the Baku
yeah mate on the list thanks mate
Hi Mark. Can you please tell me the brand and type of wax you use for this? Most waxes are too hard. It looks like you use a nice soft wax here. Where did you find it or what type is it please?
It’s a dry suit wax mate by ocean dry but now I’m using knot glue from jig star
Is that just beeswax? Never seen that before, wouldn't mind trying that
yeah mate
Rrt8
hi what is the wexx"?
dive dry suit wax
How do you find this pr knot for stickbaiting? Going threw the guides.. cheers
Not an issue due to it being small like fg knot
What type of wax are you using on the knot ?
I’m using glue now but was using just dive dry suit zip wax
Whats the advantage of a pr over an fg?
PR stronger knot
What's the price on the bobbin man didnt know they even where a thing!
Mikey Death Shimano PR bobbin is $79 there are cheaper on the marked but they are hopeless best get a good one mate
@@MarkCotton oh mad after lock down I'll give u a bell theres a few other things I need aswell 👌
FG = Fix Grip..so whats the abriviation for PR knot
