    Love the video..but I love the area even more! Do you realise how lucky you all are to live in such a place - even with the weather problems etc...? Here in the UK - we are very envious!!

      My great grandpa settled in with a Danish community. Think they were originally from Denmark, even with a name like Schultz.

      @@WheatlanderJay family history has always been interesting to me. My great grandpa moved to camrose alberta and brought his family with him to avoid fighting for the wrong side in WW2. started farming the moment he arrived and now my cousins (4th generation) are continuing the farm he started.

      slutsats: Jag tror det var för att när man springer så går pulsen snabbare. men när man springer så blir man andfådd Jag skulle kunna förbättra min kondition nästa gång vi kör igång detta igen.nfnvnvkb liutyfäio,fykunlnujhpiöufkgnuööjhänugfkjlöhgkflkjfhghipäjgoyimjn ghbbkjijlk.hh

    Nice video. Do you do custom cutting as well? That is a lot of combines for a family farm.

    So do you not have different varieties of the peas or do you plant certain varieties with the intentions of using it for seed?

    • @WheatlanderJay
      @WheatlanderJay  4 роки тому

      With Wheat and peas we typically buy enough certified seed to grow out and then use for seed the next year. We usually have 2-3 varieties of each kind of crop we grow.

    What is the big reason for using the grain carts? Back when I helped my grandfather farming we just used the truck, granted we were much smaller farmers but I see a lot of them in use curious to the advantages that I might not be seeing.

    • @WheatlanderJay
      @WheatlanderJay  7 років тому

      David Ashley we've been using carts for 4 years now and I would never go back. Even my dad who was of the same mindset as you before would never go back. They allow for much less compaction. It allows for combines to be more efficient because they never stop. They have scales so you can properly calibrate yield monitors and keep track of weight rather than volume. Allows you to load semis more efficiently because you know the weight going in each hopper. If loading b trains with a combine the air bag scale system can't keep up so you have to load very slow wasting thrashing time. They handle dust from combines much better then trucks. You wouldn't drive a fully loaded semi through your garden and expect much to grow next year.

    it's not a nice thing to spray wheat before harvesting...

    • @WheatlanderJay
      @WheatlanderJay  7 років тому +5

      Pietro Lesca if you want to read up on it you can read it here www.nurselovesfarmer.com/2014/11/the-truth-about-glyphosate-and-wheat/ Important to note it's one of 14 crops registered for pre harvest. Also there are other true desiccants registered for use just a few days before harvest. Basically we are targeting perennial weeds like Canada thistle that must be killed in the fall. Glyphosate is a systemic herbicide, mature wheat does not translocate it. Therefor no or very little residue is ever removed with the grain. Current MRLs are set at 5ppm. This practice helps farms like mine remain sustainable by lowering weed pressure and using zero till helping to build soil quality.

    • @otistarda76
      @otistarda76 7 років тому

      It's also a good practice in other countries. Anyway, what kind of moisture could you cut down the grain?
