Look at the dark bark to the lower left of the goose at time 1:57; that's how much the nest has eroded, since the geese don't add to it. Look at the worn pinkish bark to the left of its head, that's how deep N1 got over 6 years of Mom and Dad using/maintaining it. Amy Ries and friends worked so hard to rebuild this nest for a new eagle pair, and I hate to see it withering away. This is obviously an ideal spot for an eagle's nest, otherwise why would Hm and Hd be building a new one only hundreds of yards away. it's said they moved because their perch tree fell down... Their new nest is half the distance away from where that perch tree was. I'm convinced they would've reclaimed N1 if it weren't for these and other geese instead of building another one so close by because their egg laying seasons conflict.

Thanks for the information. I'm saddened that they left. Maybe they can install cams on the new nest tree.

Is that egg hers or the one the intruder laid after the leap?

I believe it’s the egg the intruder laid. And this new couple stole the egg or have adopted it. Not 100% sure.

I wonder if the female who laid the egg here is the same female who laid the egg at N2B. When I watched RRP's video of the intruder laying the egg at N2B, I suspected it might be a young female with no place of her own. This is turning into a confusion couch nest! 😅

@@chickiedee64 The problem is that these are eagle's nests. The local over population of Canada Geese gets worse every year and that's no exaggeration. They don't - do not - create their own nests, they use their size to bully steal other nests. They only subtract, not add to local nests they take. I feel so sorry for the people who live in the nearby houses having to listen to them constantly. Even you, reduce the volume on your videos. For every 2, you wind up with 5-8 geese. Even if only 2 young of those survive, that's more than doubling the population. Those insanely "cute" offspring are a local nuisance, a danger to aviation, see video "Miracle on the Hudson" and they are rapidly reducing the reason we click on these sites...The proof is simple, how many years did Mom, Dad and then DM2 occupy N1 and N2B? ...and how quickly were they driven out of those nests completely by geese because their egg laying seasons conflicted with each other? In the space of only 2 years we've gone from watching eagles for a period of 6-7 months, to watching geese for no more than 2 at a time. That's why I'm bitter.
