- Ingredients:
1 1/2 pack 16oz green split peas ( Can choose to soak the peas before cooking). Always wash your peas before cooking.
1/2 large renta yam/ white yam ( yellow yam is fine as well)
1 Bonita sweet potato
1/2 irish potato
1/2 a larger calabaza pumpkin
3 whole corn cut into 3 smaller pieces
6 stalks scallion ( Use three to cook peas and save the other three to seasoned the soup).
Few sprigs thyme
6 garlic
2 scotch bonnet pepper ( one is fine)
1 tsp allspice
Onion powder
2 medium size carrot
1 Chocho/ chayote
Vegetable bouillon cubes
Sazon all purpose seasoning
1 tbsp grated ginger
1/2 tsp coriander( very strong flavor so don’t add too much)
1 tbsp smoked paprika
To make dumpling/ spinners:
1 1/2 cups spelt four
1 cup unbleached all purpose flour. Can just use straight spelt flour if you have it.Or Add 2 cups all purpose flour and 1/2 cup cornmeal.
Add water to form a firm dough
***This was a decent size pot of soup and I use roughly 16 cups water. You can adjust this recipe/ measurements to fit your liking. Feel free to add ground provisions of choice. Seasoned to your liking and Enjoy!

I have made beef green split peas soup today for my Saturday, 26th February 2022 dinner here in the UK. I don't have any Jamaican pumpkin so I use butternut squash instead. I made my dumplings with plain flour, little cornmeal and salt, diced my Irish potatoes, white potatoes, carrot, pimento seeds and all the seasoning, and one whole scotch bonnet pepper.
Ok nice!
Thank you so much for posting this recipe!
You’re welcome!

Nothing beats a trial,so do your best and give the recipe a try.
Just made this recipe for lunch thinking it'll be a decent way to use up my veggies... Sis, this soup has no right to be sooo freakin good, I just finished my second big bowl!! I didn't have yam, but I used what I had on hand. I added sweet potato, regular potato, carrot, beets, a lot of spinach, corn, bay leaf and swapped paprika for chili powder. The ingredients are so simple but this meal NOURISHED, my belly is full full 🤤 Another 10/10 recipe of yours going into my saves list.
🙌🏾🙌🏾
Now that is soup. Thank you.
You’re welcome and thank you!
White yam is renta yam. Yummy!!!
Loving your vegan channel
Thank you!
What a yam big!!!
New subscriber. Soup looks healthy
Thank you!
Congratulations on the jamaican cooking channel. My pastor and members make these style dishes for fellowship after divine service. These plant base dishes are delicious. After we eat we have full belly chat. Lol. Thanks again for your videos
I have all the ingredients. I’ll be cooking this for Saturday
I prefer yellow yam. I love yellow ham. But they be expensive for a tiny piece
True
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Yuuuumy! 😋😋😋
I'd love to have a real yam, can't get those in the U.S. but for some reason Americans call all different looking sweet potatoes, yams. But real yams have a white interior and are harder. They are just different from the U.S. advertisement. p.s. I love the Scotch Bonnet but living in Ohio, not one is in the stores--it's like living in the 1960s here as far as what you can buy.
Looks delicious. #italfood
❤
Yes please
Hi! In the food stores here in NY they have batata. Is that the same as the sweet potato? It looks similar but I'm not sure.
Hi! Yeah it’s the same sweet potato.
January February and March are best for yams
Anyone know what the vegetables are called in England , looks amazing.
The name not much difference, Yam is Yam in England get that in most inner cities..
❤️🥰❤️🥰
Can you do a meatless mannish wata soup video?
Sure, that would be no problem. Stay tune for the recipe.

You soak the lease to release the poison that prevent it from rotting. You have to throw away that water and not use it to cook with. If you don’t believe the water is full of poison, throw the water on a brush outside and watch the brush die. I am glad you told your viewers to throw away that first water.
Can I use canned peas?
Although fresh is ideal, you can use the canned split peas.
Love your channel. Trying to transition into vegetarian. Just won’t be eating the veggie chunks etc.
Michelle Phillips-Thompson Thank you! Ok that’s good all the best on transitioning. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
