Can you turn this into a series? Like, every season you go to a different part of the world and find some wild animals that we keep as pets, and see if we are taking care of them properly! I think that would be so awesome!
3 years late to the party, but I found a good trick to help with leachie poop is having a clean up crew of isopods. Those guys are amazing at cleaning substrate and thrive in the humidity that many New Cals like
Thanks so much for documenting them in the wild! I've been planning to put a pair of these in my grow room someday and really appreciate seeing their natural habitat so I can provide them with a similar home
i am so loving this series! The camouflage of the Bayonnaise leachianus on the tree was neat. love the tips for hobbyists. Your videos reminded me of the travelogues i watched with Lowell Thomas. i also have read Raymond Ditmars, Martin and Osa Johnson, Roy Chapman Andrews, Carl Akeley and Clyde Beatty. When i was 10 i read every natural history book in the local library and my love of animals in the wild has continued for 59 years. Sending love and gratitude.
I just love this channel! learning about awesome animals/reptiles in the wild is my fave and then you got cool dav and his humor to add to it👏🏻 great video!
Awesome video Dav, really great insight on what these guys will eat in the wild. Also really great info of the landscape about the cork tubes. Thanks for making these videos.
That is really interesting, island gigantism but the smaller the island is the smaller the variety is. I wouldn't have guessed that there was that sort of competing evolutionary dynamic.
Another fantastic video! Will you take a look at gargoyles and the other common species? Also, if you’re looking for another herping trip idea, I can see wild leopard geckos and royal/ball pythons being popular ;)
Thanks! We didn't get to herp GT were the gargs are, so we may have to go back one day. And keep this very quiet, but we're planning Ghana for BPs next year. :)
I’ve been keeping and breeding Leachianus for 20 years and would love for you to check out Duu Ana. Would be amazing to see if they have survived and still exist on that island. That and go get some Poindimie.
Hopefully he will be doing another episode. I was hoping to see GTs in the wild as well, which is the locality I have. Great series though, really appreciate the work that went into this.
Awesome videos ? Is there somewhere would we would be able to see the locales on a map with its abbreviated name coinciding with morph type ? Like Isle E, C, etc ?
Great job!!! Love seeing these guys in the wild and how cool to find those eggs! I also love those twisted branches of those trees. What are those trees called?
Just read the description, no GT habitats? :( gutted. Was waiting on that to influence my decisions on this build I’m mid way through. Thanks for this great info though, really interesting seeing how varied the different islands are!
Could you do a proper care video on green anoles? Since you're a reptile expert, that would be awesome, they're one of the few annoy species that are very intriguing, especially their color-changing ability
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures could u also do one on eastern fence lizards too? Almost no one has a accurate care video on them, to me they are like tiny bearded dragons but faster
Indeed! later on a lot more mites are displayed. I myself have caught some in a H. mabouia I was playing around with a few days ago. There's an interesting video here on youtube where they increase in 60x so we can see how the mites are real up close. And sometimes it is real hard to catch them naked eyes, but if you get the right lighting angle, they show up, just like in your footage!
Most of them are really chill, but a few were a little hard to handle. There's a video coming soon about the biggest predator they face. It's a lizard 99% of people have never heard about. Stay tuned!
Part one and two were really enjoyable but I am struck by the lack of science. We cannot conclude a male leachie is guarding eggs because he happens to be sitting on a branch above a freshly laid clutch - that would require far more observation and analysis. Also with regard to temps and humidity we need to see the variation across an entire year. A snapshot in March is not enough to confirm the acceptable captive conditions. Commentary on the types of trees is also a bit odd, as captive enclosures are comparatively tiny and as if the different locales would really care whether they rested horizontally or vertically. Also we are told 'this is what the animals look like on Island X' when it is a single example! How about showing us ten or twenty, as I am sure there will be some variation. The sea krait footage was superb and I definitely agree that is worthy of being labelled a first! What happened to a video of Grand Terre animals?
I understand where you are coming from, but this wasn't a scientific exploration as it were. We made some incredible observations that have never before been documented and hopefully those observations spark a larger investigation into what is happening with these reptiles on those islands. These videos serve as a "day in the life" of what these lizards are doing in the wild, and again will hopefully spur an interest for more scientific research. As for Grand Terre, we only spent one day there, and more habitats have been completely destroyed by nickel mining.
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures I’m very sure there was no way u could stay long enough on each island to collect 10-20 specimens of each type. I very much appreciated and loved these videos and so did a ton of other people! It was thrilling to see them from their natural habitat. Thank u so much for all the effort put into these videos. You ROCK!!
No but it is written as two genus. Rhacodactylus Leachianus Rhacodactylus leachianus Becoming a big difference if you follow how scientific names are written :)

That's exactly what I'm going to do
AdamKun I’d love for u to do that too!! This series was so interesting to me. Loved all the info and seeing where they naturally live. Thank u!
No gecko video is complete without an eyeball lick or two. Thank you Dāv.
I agree! Thanks Michelle!
Yes! 6:19. And look at those teethies 😯
Another great video! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you, and thanks for sharing the crested video! I appreciate that!
Omg! That bug was huge! 😂 that leachie was really going for it! 😃😂

Lol! Thanks!
I want a leachie. After seeing this video I realized I will need a massive custom built enclosure for them.
This was so awesome thanks so much again for going there and sharing this. Also never knew catydids could be so big.
No one was more surprised than we were to see that
So informative for leachie owners like me, thankyou for making videos like this. You deserve way more views and subscribers.
Thanks! Please feel free to share on your social media to get the word out!
Craig Smart I totally agree. He gives such great info and he shows so many interesting things. I don’t get it 🤷♀️
Awesome video Dav, really great insight on what these guys will eat in the wild. Also really great info of the landscape about the cork tubes. Thanks for making these videos.
Thanks for tuning in!
I liked that cool fade in at 3:55
edited to say the fade out was equally cool.
Lizard pepol are cool. Cool animal for cool pepol :3
Fascinating information about the differences in habitat!
That is really interesting, island gigantism but the smaller the island is the smaller the variety is.
I wouldn't have guessed that there was that sort of competing evolutionary dynamic.
Loving this series Dav!
Really glad to hear that
Can u try and search for wild gargoyle geckos and chaholas
MarQuice Maeweather yeah
Funny, these two were on our target list, and they are the only two we didn't find
Diamond Back Reptiles thx
That's really unfortunate, an episode each for chahouas and gargs would have been awesome
Great info and yet another great video! Glad you made this journey!
Thanks! Me too!

Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures Awesome, can wait! (Seriously, because I have to watch this series first :P)
Everyone covers the New Caledonian geckos, you should do an episode on wild leopard geckos! Now that, I’ve never seen done.
Loved the video brother keep up good work
Great video!! Thanks for making it!
Thank you and thanks for tuning in
could you tell us what kind of fruit grows on those islands :)
Loved it ! Thank You and RATTLE ON ! JILLIAN YELLED IT LOL 😂
Glad you enjoyed!
Love the new video's Dave
Thanks!
that leachie vs katydid was epic! It's a shame you scared it though.
Another GREAT video 👍
Thank you!
How cool to go to the origin of geckos you kept as a kid. Had to be a rush. Didn't know all those facts. Dude, you're making me smarter every vid. 🤪
Awesome bro! Thanks!
Awesome video dude

If I go back, there's a lot of islands I'd like to hit.
Awesome footage keep it up
Thanks! More to come!
Hopefully he will be doing another episode. I was hoping to see GTs in the wild as well, which is the locality I have. Great series though, really appreciate the work that went into this.
Thanks Bethany I really appreciate that
You should make a care sheet based on your experience! I loved these videos!
Not a bad idea
This is a really great series you’ve got going on here! You should go looking for leopard geckos in the wild
Thanks! Planning on it.
Nice hands Dav made a few great grabs lol
I'm getting quicker as I get older. Not sure how though :)
Love your content! But you really need a new music playlist.
I can confirm PI leachies like to jump. Mine lies to go go go and jump lol She is only 8 months old atm, but can't wait to see how big she gets.
Oh she's going to get big!
I one day want to own a Leachie! This has only strengthened that desire lol
Awesome! You should get one!
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures If my budget and my student flat would allow it the leachie would be mine already! 😁
I envy you. Wish it was me exploring those islands
Wow, Dave was on 34 when he made this?! I thought he was older than me lol
I had no idea how big catydids could get!!
WOW very awesome
Thanks!
Awesome videos ? Is there somewhere would we would be able to see the locales on a map with its abbreviated name coinciding with morph type ? Like Isle E, C, etc ?
Amazing video!
Thank you
Look for wild Kenyan sandboas
it's in the works...
I feel like that would be pretty hard.
I love this video!!!!
glad you do :)
This was awesome to watch! I’ve been looking to getting them but I wasn’t 100% sure on temps and humidity?
*Leachiunis Giant Geckos* 😍💜🦎
Are you going to show Gran Terre? We have 2. It would be nice to see where they come from.
We did, but didn't get to spend a lot of time herping there.
Great job!!! Love seeing these guys in the wild and how cool to find those eggs! I also love those twisted branches of those trees. What are those trees called?
I tried to look it up but I haven't found it yet
WILL YOU TRY TO FIND WILD GARGOYLE GECKOS!?
we didn't spend that much time on GT unfortunately.
Just read the description, no GT habitats? :( gutted. Was waiting on that to influence my decisions on this build I’m mid way through. Thanks for this great info though, really interesting seeing how varied the different islands are!
Sorry, we didn't get to spend a lot of time on GT.
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures No worries! Very pleased to have seen this!
Picking up from where i left off lol
good catch! how abundant were the leachies on the islands? interesting seeing the red mites on the leachies as well. did many of them have the mites?
They were fairly common. Most all of them had mites
We need some chahoua, sarasinorum, and eurydactylodes up in here
Yes we do!
Did you go to Grand tar? I dont see it in the part 1 or 2
Awesome video bro!
Did you make it to Cannawa?
We didn't. That's north of the island and we were in the south.
Bummer!
I didn't realize you went south, sorry!
So jelly
Great video 💘 it
Thanks!
I’m in New Caledonia now I’m gonna try go get some photo’s
Good luck!
awesome.
Epic!!

Actually I love anoles. I'll look into that for sure
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures thanks
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures could u also do one on eastern fence lizards too? Almost no one has a accurate care video on them, to me they are like tiny bearded dragons but faster
Please do leopard geckos
u never show footage of the capturing. why?
Simple. It's hard to catch them with tons of camera equipment in my hands :)
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures but there was like 5 or 6 people
I'm more of a snake person, but you gotta break it up sometimes and geckos are pretty damn cool.
I totally agree!
does this videos music SCREAM spyro to anyone else?
❤❤❤
hire me please!!
At 5:34, mites caught on camera? Interesting that they only seem to be visible at a certain angle.
Mites are a natural occurring thing on all (if not most) reptiles.
Indeed! later on a lot more mites are displayed. I myself have caught some in a H. mabouia I was playing around with a few days ago. Tuatara? :D
No Gargoyles or Chuas?
No those are on the main island and we didn't get to spend a lot of time there this trip
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures
Did you ever see what type of fruit was around? You mentioned fruit, but never said what kind.
So Cork Bark ain't really need from what I see on your videos. Because on ur videos there just on trees
