  • Gator Frameworks Desktop Clamp-On Studio Monitor and Speaker Stand Review
    The desktop studio monitor clamp-on stand pair by Gator Frameworks supports most small-sized studio monitors in both vertical and horizontal orientations to improve speaker performance during playback and mixing. These stands function by separating and elevating speakers from your desktop surface, giving you a more isolated audio response for improved accuracy during studio monitoring. Easily adjust and lock the stand height from 10. 5” to 14” and speaker tilt angle from 0 to 15 degrees for preferred positioning. Clamps to Desktop Surfaces up to 2.25". Not suitable for glass surfaces.

    To respond to your doubts about the difference in the size of the bottom plate vs the top plate, the top plate (the one that matters most) is wide and padded and rests on your desktop so that more weight can be distributed across the plate. The bottom plate is basically only there to tighten or pull the top plate down to your desktop, and it is also padded, and not really too small for what it does. The weight is meant to rest on the top plate and your desk, which is why the top plate is so wide. If anyone is still insecure about size of the bottom plate, just use a coaster or square piece of wood or metal between the bottom of the desk and the bottom plate. I have these stands and they've been great for over 2 years, they're solid and they don't budge. They're built really well. As for your other clamps you used as comparisons in this video, they're intended for totally different use, which is why the top clamp in the second one is the same as the bottom, it isn't meant to stabilize a big boxy monitor, in which case you'd want a much wider top plate.

    I've had 8'' monitors on mine for over 2 years with no problems at all. I like that longer top lip because it gives you more grab if the under side of your table only has a couple inches to clamp on to.

    These clamps are very awesome! I talked to one of the reps at Gator. I asked if each stand can hold 60lbs or the maximum is for the pair. The rep said that it is each stand. He also said some people have put their 10” monitors on there. I have my ERIS 8 on the stands and have held very well. So just in case others are wondering if it’s each stand or for the pair. Great Video also btw.

    Thank you! I was looking at these and you voiced the same concerns I have with my Yamaha HS7s.

    Thanks for the review. I'm looking for stands for my Rokit 8s, and I too am unconvinced that a clamp-on stand would be up to the task, especially if it's going to sit in place for potentially years. It'd be good if the manufacturer would make a video with some stress tests to put our minds at ease. For now though I think I'll get a desktop stand.

    Great video! Let me ask you this. If you take off the top “plate” assy., will a standard speaker hole fit on there? I want to pole mount my Bose S1 Pros on this but dont want it resting on the plate. I want that pole to go into the hole of the speaker?

    I have yamaha hs5s and I was curious how your monitor stands have been since you posted this video since its been about 6 months now. Are they holding up strong?

  • @az5654
    @az5654 Рік тому

    I would be more concerned if the weight of the monitor was on an arm that extended out. But the weight of the monitor is straight down over the base and clamp. Another concern would be if the desk was moved around a lot. If for the most part, the desk was stationary, I don't think there should be much of a concern.

    hey! great video. I agree those clamps are whack, but i'm only wanting them for krk5s. Are you able to confirm weight of one of these stands please? On amazon there are two completely different weights, 3.2kg for the pair, and also 0.45kg each, which obviously doesn't add up, unless they're using some heavy ass packaging. Need to know for shipping to South Africa :)

    I just got these for my Yamaha HS8 and it failed miserably due to it being too small which is really unfortunate since I can't seem to find stands that would be big enough for my monitor speakers.

    The parts are hella massive, bro. The value of the materials on the commodity exchange for iron already exceeds the purchase price. I use 'em for lifting weights, as a jack in my workshop for my Hummer Truck, and worst case scenario, they're good for self-defense too.
