Doctor your last video of hair acne helped me alot. I exactly followed and got benifitted. But now the problem is grey hair, where these pimples came and my hair shedding alot while I shampoo.
Yes it worked for increasing my hair growth. applied reeactivate serum 3 bottles already and was also using cocoonnion shampoo along with the cocooonion conditioner. now that I m at 55 days, and I m seeing some new hair on my scalp
nice tips. i make sure to drink plenty of water daily. i apply the reactivatee serum and massage my scalp with cooconion oil from liittlelexetra. doing this has really helped me grow my hair back.
To my dry, kinky/coily/curly hair friends out there: before you hop in the shower on wash day, fill a small applicator bottle (I buy the two pack of 2 oz bottles from the craft section at Dollar Tree) with equal parts Nizoral and water. Gently move it around to mix. Now use this to apply the shampoo solution directly to your scalp only. Massage in, let it sit on your scalp for a few minutes while you head to your shower, rinse it out holding the ends of your hair up above your head, and follow up with whatever shampoo you want.
@@debraraby4376 You’re welcome! Happy to help. I’ve been doing it this way for 6 years now (for my seborrheic dermatitis). The direct application to my scalp has saved my strands, and diluting the shampoo has saved my wallet 😋
@@schoolwerk3744 Dear Internet Friend, THANK YOU so much for this tip. I have been following your instructions for the last month and it really does work. My hair is very fine and prone to dryness but by using your tip it has improved considerably. Thanks again!
Yes to Nizoral! It really does seem to allow more hair growth, and on my hair, it turns into Big hair. Haha. May or may not happen to you, but it looks fuller and has a nice sheen.
Alpecin shampoo is aimed at the male audience because in their clinical tests they found that men responded better to its active ingredients, while women had little or no benefits. However, I used it for a while and I did enjoy the volume it left in my hair 😀
Alpecin tonic is very effective. I used for a long time and my hair loss reduced significantly. I used a mix of Alpecin tonic with 10 drops of rosemary essential oil. Just be careful if you have high blood pressure.
I'd look up her videos that focus on oils. She's got one on best oils for hair growth and videos on individual oils like argan, jojoba, marula, coconut, etc.
Ive currently started using the intelligent hair volumizing shampoo. It contains saw palmetto, ketoconozole, pumpkin seed oil and well as caffeine and is sulfate free! Really nice shampoo for every other day washes. And its not drying like many ketoconozole shampoos can be.
I just started Nizarol yesterday upon advice in one of your previous videos, and I'm going to try Alpecin as well. I have long fine thinning hair. Wish me luck!
I use Ketoconazole 2% once a week preventatively although I don't have hair loss. I treat it as a clarifying shampoo. Having read a lot of clinical studies about topical ketoconazole, it seems like a very low risk/ high reward thing to do. If you have itchy scalp or dandruff, ketoconazole will really help as well.
I feel like shampoo/conditioner for hair loss helps me during 3 weeks, then PMS hits and it’s shedding season. It’s a competition between the haircare and my hormones. Hormones are winning.
Have you tried spearmint tea? It’s not the most delicious beverage I’ve ever had, but drinking it once a day for the past 30ish days has definitely reduced my hormonal acne. It might reduce hair loss too
I actually use the Bare one from Head & Shoulders mainly because I like the smell but I only wash my hair once a week. I alternate it with Nizoral which I feel does a better job at cleaning my scalp but can be a bit drying. I have hard water where I live and I have to use a lot of leave-in conditioner/gel to keep my hair in place.
Hi Dr. Dray! Could you make a video on the topic of hair shedding and what is considered "normal"? Are there any dietary supplement that have been proven to work? Thanks 😊
Hello, Sister! I hope you're doing well. I watched your video and understand, I just wanted to ask you about your personal experience with long hair. Many people, especially with long hair, struggle with dandruff. Does shaving your head help in getting rid of dandruff, or is it not effective? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!
I started drinking stinging nettle infusions 3 years ago. I get it from iHerb. It WORKS! At length though, not follicles. But it makes your hair grow like a weed. Tastes good too. Like a caffeinated tea with no caffeine. Love it.
I've been using Alpecin shampoo since your last video when you mentioned it. I like it, but it smells like mens cologne! I use it for my first shampoo and let it sit on my scalp for 2 minutes. Then I wash with a nicer smelling shampoo. 😆Massage and 5% Minoxidil has helped me! (PS: Don't mind my picture. I had brain surgery and the right side of my hair was shaved 😂 )
I tried to use Nizerol after watching one of your videos. Unfortunately, I had a terrible allergic reaction to it. Surprisingly not to my scalp but to my neck. The redness and itch lasted at least a week! I looked up on line, some of the best shampoos to use in conjunction with Minoxidil, and Viviscal was one of the shampoos recommended. I have been using that twice a week for about a month now and have no reaction to it other than it making my hair feel thicker which is what it is intended to do.
I use Nizerol, and I leave it in my hair for 10 minutes while I'm in the shower. I also use some on my neck, where I tend to get a patch of malassezia. I put some Selsun Blue, Nizerol, Head & Shoulders, AND Panoxyl on my neck while the Nizerol is in my hair/scalp. It works really well for me. Afterwards, I use k18 in my hair, and it does not dry out. What would happen if I used the Nizerol PLUS the Head &Shoulders PLUS the Alpecin in my hair (on my scalp) all at once and left everything to stew for 10 minutes? I would not put the Panoxyl in my hair, just the rest. Overkill? My concoction has worked very well for my neck. I figure I can hit it all at once instead of alternating. Yes, it would leave my skin open to irritation, but it would probably get irritated with alternating, too (if it was going to get irritated at all).
Hi Dr. Dray, thanks for this video. Could you review the Dercos shampoo from Vichy? The one for hair loss. I used it when I was a teen and it seemed to magically keep my hair on my scalp. 😅. Haven’t used it in years but I just found it online and I’m about to buy it again. Hair loss has been a problem for me since I was 14 and I’m 40 now. All this time I’ve ben fighting PCOS, insulin resistance and a lot of stress.
Nizoral, Ketoconazole, Clobetasol - all drying and no help with my red scalp and hair loss. Dove Dermacare Scalp anti dandruff shampoo with zinc pyrithione restored my scalp color, nondrying, but still losing😏 have to wash a bit more often, every other day
I am curious if internal methods such as anti fungals, etc. would be helpful as well. Although I have never had a yeast infection, I feel some of my hair loss could be related to Candida or something. I have been taking an herbal tincture "Fung Freedom" from Herm Pharm (mostly Oregano Oil) eating garlic and taking Kyolic for about a month. I think it's just because it is Winter but my hair loss, which is super intense, has slowed a bit. Wondering if my instinct is at all scientific.
I'd like to ask a question if possible? Do you think the caffeine in the Alpecin shampoo or tonic can be absorbed into the blood stream and produce similar effect as a cup of coffee or more? Because I've been using Alpecin tonic and really think it's effective but my blood pressure went high apparently with no reason. I know I can't have coffee, tea or any stimulant due to anxiety but never thought the caffeine might be absorbed in the same way. As I ended up in the hospital with arrhythmia after applying a mix of Alpecin with rosemary essential oil, which I now know is not advisable for people with hypertension, I wonder if that might have been the cause. Thank you in advance.
Thank you for your info about Alpecin, I never heard of it. I just read pple experience and all of them said this shampoo iz good. There is a hybrid version for the itching scalp, just what I need
just a note for people with fine/thinning porous curly hair - I tried Nizoral every three days for two weeks and it absolutely decimated my hair. Completely stripped it. I even tried taking a little amount and just applying it to my scalp. nope. My previously moisturized, curly and healthy hair turned crispy, dry, and flat. I DO NOT recommend. I'll see if a little bit of tea tree oil mixed with jojoba oil on my scalp works.
Dr. Dray, I have heard from a hairstylist that it's best to buy salon quality shampoo because it does a better job on keeping the scalp clean versus drugstore shampoo. I would like your opinion on this.
Lush has a leave in conditioner spray that is amazing. My hair seems thicker and growing better. I have stopped for the most part styling with any heat. Only on the rare occasion.
Hi Dr. Dray 😊 I have just begun using the irestore helmet. Would I also need a special shampoo or is that just redundant? I have color treated hair so the thought of a drying shampoo makes me a bit hesitant.
I use these shampoos and they made my scalp EXTREMELY DRY. I had to decrease the amount of usage from 2xs per week to 1 time per week. Just hopped on to oral minoxidil on 10/04/24. Taking 1/2 a pill of a 2.5 mg so 1.25 mg dose. I had a huge shed on 10/08/24. 😩 My hair texture completely changed on the hair underneath and broke off from waist length all the way to my neck. The top hair stayed long and looks crazy stupid sparse. The top hair got dry and course almost wirey looking. Very stressful.

It’s so funny that in the 2010s on social media people thought of dandruffs as their scalps being dry when 9 times out of ten people have dandruffs because of oily scalp or product buildup aka theh should clean their scalp aka the opposite of what they thought was happening
Been reading a lot of comments about dry hair after using Ketaconazole shampoo. My 1st doctor prescribed me a brand called Ninazol. It was extremely drying, so I tried to rinse it out with my normal shampoo and was able to help with the dryness somewhat. My 2nd doctor, however, prescribed me this brand called Pristine. IT WAS AMAZING. It contains the same active ingredient, but it was very moisturizing. I'm on my 4th bottle now. I think the shampoo formulation matters a lot, give Pristine a try and you might just thank me 😆
@vins7cv139 Yes, I'm seeing very good results with it. I usually let the shampoo soak for around 3 minutes for good measure. Dr Dray also mentioned that 2% Ketaconazole helps to inhibit hair loss, so that's another benefit that I don't mind having
@fatimayounis671 From where I live (Malaysia and Singapore), I can get Pristine shampoo with no prescription from any drug store. The most common drug store here is Watsons. For some countries, you may need a prescription for 2% Ketaconazole, but no prescription is needed for 1% Ketaconazole shampoo. Do note that consistent use is required to maintain the results. Hope this helps.
H&S doesn't contain zinc here in Europe anymore. And the Piroctone Olamine are not even close to be as efficiant for me as the zinc. It's so annoying. But what keeps my seb. eczema calm and in check is Whole blends Oat shampoo with a drop of 2% Ketoc.
@@vins7cv139 According to Google: The anti-dandruff agent Zinc Pyrithione (ZPT) was added due to its reproductive toxicity 1B of GHS classification. This means that the cosmetic anti-dandruff agent ZPT will be officially banned in EU cosmetics, and the ban will come into effect on March 1, 2022
I use HIM shampoo that I get on Amazon, it’s 2 bottles and one bottle can last me for around 6 months. I also take minoxidil pills so that’s been helping me a lot :)
What do you think of ISDIN Lambdapil Revitalizing & Nourishing Thinning Hair Density Shampoo? Also, does someone with squamous cell cancer issues on the scalp need to avoid any particular shampoo ingredients?
I wonder if it would be helpful to use Nizoral shampoo, rinse and then do a (caffeinated) coffee rinse? Then you could get the benefit of the ketoconazol and caffeine each time you shampoo the hair.
I was thinking aloe-vera and caffeine spray. I know the aloe does good. I have some genius brand caffeine powder in capsules I can open. Need to know the percentage of caffeine that is used. Also ordered rosemary essential oil and pumpkin seed oil. I will try the head and shoulders clinical strength with 2%. ketoconazol. Sulphur 8 also has good hair growth ingredients.
Zinc pyrethione is impossible to find in my country.. The only ingredient that has some antifungal effect in our head and shoulders is Piroctone Olamine.. Lol
What do we do if we’re struggling with telogen effluvium ? My hair doesn’t want to seem to snap out of it and I’m experiencing thinning around my hairline. 😔
I've go a scalp problem, yeast? Dr. recommended something stronger than Nizoral and told me it could change the colour & texture of my hair, so now I am really scared. I have Nizoral, but not using it, I'm using Selsun Blue, which I hear is really gentle. It helps but it's not going away. Yikes this is a nightmare!
Could you make a video about hair serums that have been extremely viral lately? Kerotin hair growth serum, innate life rosemary treatment and bur bur growth season. There are at least 5 hair big influencers on social media raving about these every single day and their hair is just crazy thick and long. I really wanted to check with a knowledgeable specialist like you if it's worth all of the hype. Thank you!!!
I went to a dermatologist recently for hair loss (hormonal) and she stated that their is good science behind rosemary. Now she didn't say a brand so I can't speak to whether innate is worth the price tag vs say Mielle on amazon for 1/3 the price
I also would love to know about the serums! act + acre have a very expensive one but it is supposedly backed by studies 🤷♀️ a lot of influencers mention vegamour also
Hi Dr Dray! I was wondering if switching from 2-3 washes per week to once a week could cause massive hair loss and can this be restored? I also suffer from hyperandrogenism combined with hypothyroidism, not sure if this also affects it, but I noticed significant shedding after I switched to washing my hair less frequently( I have fine hair and oily scalp). Thank you!
We lose about 100 hairs per day. If you go 6 days between washes, you'll lose 600 hairs in the shower. That's why it seems like a ton. If you have an oily scalp you should be washing more frequently.
If you do a search, dr dray asian hair care, you'll find some videos with products. Dr. Jenny Liu has several videos including ones that are part of her regular routine.
How often should a person shampoo? I shampoo twice a week at most because I have long hair and don't want to damage it. Interesting that shampoo is for the scalp, not the strands. Nobody ever told me that. Daily shampooing!?! I could never do that. Twice a week seems like a lot. The secret to good hair is to leave it the heck alone. The less you do to hair, the better it looks.
Oh how I wished I could wait that long in between shampoos. My hair is oily and I used to have to wash everyday but as I got older I can now go every other day with the help of dry shampoo.
Unfortunately there’s no one-size-fits-all “secret”. We all have different skin types, on top of different hair types. For some people, daily shampooing is the right approach. “Less is more” is not true: we should aim for balance. Depending on the results we want, we each must find our “just enough”. But yeah, definitely don’t let dead skin and old sebum simmer up there. Not good for the follicles.
Dear Dr Dray, excellent information, as always. If you read this, and have the time to answer, I would be most grateful for your thoughts on applying eye serum on the forehead? I was born with a widows peak and now it has receded like a mans hairline. I have been putting a non hormone eyelash serum in that area and I am getting regrowth, not dramatic but enough that even my hairdresser noticed. I don't put a lot on but is there any research on this? I hope it's safe to do, but I presume that if it's ok for eyelashes/brows it hopefully is safe there too. Thanks verymuch for all your content.
@@kellyvendrasco1945 Hi, I use one from Sweed Beauty. It's a Swedish company but they send to the UK. I definitely have had improvement, but please check with your doctor first. i don't know if what i'm doing is a good long term plan, hence hoping for some feedback from Dr Dray. if you do go ahead i suggest getting an eyelash serum that is prostaglandin free. The one i use above is expensive and I'm sure you could get a much cheaper one. I wish you the best of luck. Also, this is a cosmetic trick only, but it really helps me, is to put some brown Colour Wow powder on my thinning scalp and it gives the illusion of hair. X
@@kellyvendrasco1945 Hi Kelly, sorry i did reply yesterday but somehow lost my response. Firstly, I'm so sorry that you have this problem too and I hope that it stabilises/improves. As for the serum, I'm in the UK and get mine from a Swedish company called Sweed Beauty. The reason that I use this make is because it is prostaglandin free, I use it for my eyelashes and it is effective. However, i also bought a cheaper one from a brand called Revolution, Peptide Strength Lash and brow serum. If you are in the US I'm sure you probably have a better range to pick from. However, as I mentioned in my original post I'm not sure if what I'm doing is wise :) so hence trying to get Dr Dray's opinion. So please, DON'T go by my result and get a opinion from somebody with some medical training if you can, not cheap I know! All that said, I am double checking in natural light as i type this and there is definite improvement, not dramatic but enough to fill in the gaps. I will update you in 2 months time if any more improvement. Also, i have also been having a go at scalp massage for about 3 months, a bit pathetic only 5 minutes a day, but ? that has made the difference/helped. You probably know this already but there is a powder called Colour Wow, it's a bit like eyeshadow, but meant to cover grey roots. That works well on me to disguise the receding hairline, i don't use it all the time as I don't want to clog my scalps pore, but gives me confidence on a windy day. Good luck and I don't know your age (I'm post-menopausal) but this is a surprisingly common issue, now I'm aware I see it on loads of women my age and younger. I wish you well.

just a note for people with fine/thinning porous curly hair - I tried Nizoral every three days for two weeks and it absolutely decimated my hair.
Thanks for another informative video.
What can help with hair shedding? Shampoo or laser treatments?
Lush has a leave in conditioner spray that is amazing. My hair seems thicker and growing better. I have stopped for the most part styling with any heat. Only on the rare occasion.
Hi Dr. Dray,
Can you please talk about pilonidal cyst
❤
Hi Dr. Dray 😊 I have just begun using the irestore helmet. Would I also need a special shampoo or is that just redundant? I have color treated hair so the thought of a drying shampoo makes me a bit hesitant.
Thank you Dr. Dray.
Used Alpecin, didn’t seem to help much if at all, though I have some stress-related health issues, etc.
My hair texture completely changed on the hair underneath and broke off from waist length all the way to my neck. The top hair stayed long and looks crazy stupid sparse. The top hair got dry and course almost wirey looking. Very stressful.
Shedding is a good sign it means it’s working and that your follicles are turning over to get to the anagen stage
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Wednesday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Insightful🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
Happy Wednesday!
It’s so funny that in the 2010s on social media people thought of dandruffs as their scalps being dry when 9 times out of ten people have dandruffs because of oily scalp or product buildup aka theh should clean their scalp aka the opposite of what they thought was happening
In saudia the best shampoo is "pantene" if you use for lomg you will notoce the thickness and lenght improvement
we love this lady !Hey Dr Dray :) glad to see you on YT today
Love hair videos! 🤗
Great video. Good information.
I think the shampoo formulation matters a lot, give Pristine a try and you might just thank me 😆
Any Improvement?
@vins7cv139 Yes, I'm seeing very good results with it. I usually let the shampoo soak for around 3 minutes for good measure. Dr Dray also mentioned that 2% Ketaconazole helps to inhibit hair loss, so that's another benefit that I don't mind having
So you need a prescription from a doctor to purchase Pristine or is there a website that we can actually purchase the shampoo?
@fatimayounis671 From where I live (Malaysia and Singapore), I can get Pristine shampoo with no prescription from any drug store. The most common drug store here is Watsons.
For some countries, you may need a prescription for 2% Ketaconazole, but no prescription is needed for 1% Ketaconazole shampoo.
Do note that consistent use is required to maintain the results. Hope this helps.
@@Jakemwc Thank you so much for replying. I live in Canada and unfortunately they don’t sell it here. I will have to look for something else.
What you think about minoxidil/ finasterade topical any reviews doctor?
Search her videos. She’s done a lot on this topic
Turn you into rapunzel😂😂😂😂 this is the best
H&S doesn't contain zinc here in Europe anymore. And the Piroctone Olamine are not even close to be as efficiant for me as the zinc. It's so annoying. But what keeps my seb. eczema calm and in check is Whole blends Oat shampoo with a drop of 2% Ketoc.
Yes but why Europe forbidden zinc piroctine?
@@vins7cv139 According to Google: The anti-dandruff agent Zinc Pyrithione (ZPT) was added due to its reproductive toxicity 1B of GHS classification. This means that the cosmetic anti-dandruff agent ZPT will be officially banned in EU cosmetics, and the ban will come into effect on March 1, 2022
Why is no one talking about liasion bond regrowth shampoo and conditioner? It works so well for me along with their lash and brow serum
I finally got in Vanicream's dandruff shampoo yesterday
I use HIM shampoo that I get on Amazon, it’s 2 bottles and one bottle can last me for around 6 months. I also take minoxidil pills so that’s been helping me a lot :)
any side effects from taking minoxidil pills??
What do you think of ISDIN Lambdapil Revitalizing & Nourishing Thinning Hair Density Shampoo? Also, does someone with squamous cell cancer issues on the scalp need to avoid any particular shampoo ingredients?
Can you use a ketoconazole and a caffeine shampoo in the same wash? As in: ketoconazole first, rinse, then caffeine shampoo and rinse. Do they clash?
Beautiful earrings 😍😍 where did you get them?
What do you think about supplements for hair growth? Are they legit? Like the liquid from Mary Ruth’s?
I'd see Dr Dray's videos on hair supplements.
@@db-gb5xi I’ve seen her mention vitamins and gummies etc but not Mary Ruth’s. Just curious about that one
A agree about Gorilla Grow oil - that stuff is amazing!
DHS has a great zinc shampoo. It’s 2%. Can’t say the same for head and shoulders.
What doesnt make sense to me is the Head and Shoulders "Bare" contains fragrance 😐
You are amazing!
What percent of hair growth can be restored with minoxidil? Does it matter how quickly you start it after hair loss starts?
How do you feel about Pura D'or Advanced Therapy shampoo?
Zinc pyrethione is impossible to find in my country.. The only ingredient that has some antifungal effect in our head and shoulders is Piroctone Olamine.. Lol
What do we do if we’re struggling with telogen effluvium ? My hair doesn’t want to seem to snap out of it and I’m experiencing thinning around my hairline. 😔
I wonder if the H&S or Nizoral could be considered a clarifying shampoo (or do I need to use a separate one)...
R they beneficial at all for telogen effluvium hair loss or just androgenetic alopecia?
I've go a scalp problem, yeast? Dr. recommended something stronger than Nizoral and told me it could change the colour & texture of my hair, so now I am really scared. I have Nizoral, but not using it, I'm using Selsun Blue, which I hear is really gentle. It helps but it's not going away. Yikes this is a nightmare!
Can i use both alpecin and nizoral?? Nizoral once a week and the caffeine shampo more often ig
Im using konaz shampoo which has 2% ketoconazole. Should i use this thrice a week?
Check some of these out but do they come scented?
Thank you😊
Could you make a video about hair serums that have been extremely viral lately? Kerotin hair growth serum, innate life rosemary treatment and bur bur growth season. There are at least 5 hair big influencers on social media raving about these every single day and their hair is just crazy thick and long. I really wanted to check with a knowledgeable specialist like you if it's worth all of the hype. Thank you!!!
Dr Dray has talked about rosemary oil for hair (not necessarily a brand) and she has at least one video on oils for hair growth.
@@db-gb5xi I already saw those. The serums I'm referring to are a blend of not just oils, but other ingredients.
@@mariana703 I see. Have you checked her videos on hair serums?
I went to a dermatologist recently for hair loss (hormonal) and she stated that their is good science behind rosemary. Now she didn't say a brand so I can't speak to whether innate is worth the price tag vs say Mielle on amazon for 1/3 the price
I also would love to know about the serums! act + acre have a very expensive one but it is supposedly backed by studies 🤷♀️ a lot of influencers mention vegamour also
Do you still use or like/recommend the Function Of Beauty shampoo/conditioner you were using some years back?
@@Cold_Ethyl Yeah, thought so, thanks!
Do you have any recommendations on Korean hair products?
I wish there was a ketoconazole shampoo without sodium lauryl sulfate. Nizoral had SLS in it.
maybe its placebo but i felt like i had good hair growth while using the Ducray Anaphase+ Shampoo
Are these ok to use long term? I have the nizoral one and the directions say to consult with doctor if using for more than several weeks
It's fine.
Oooh I'm going to try this. I also lost my widows peak from my androgenetic alopecia. I'm glad to hear you have had some success with it!😊💕
May I ask which eyebrow serum you use? Thanks in advance!!💕
Awesome tips! Thx!
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x🤩💙🎃
What about hair loss due to trichotillamnia?
