I love it's an open year, makes everything so much more exciting ! This being said none of my 5 favorites are in the odds top 5, heck only one is in the odds top 10... I feel like a real oddball, but I still believe at least one of mine will end in top 5 and at least 3 will end in top 10, if Norway doesn't come top 10 that would indeed be a crime. I still have that bet I made with myself that if Norway wins I'll get my first tattoo at the age of 43, a big G 😝 At this point I wouldn't mind any of the winners except Switzerland, I would feel even more of an oddball if Switzerland actually won cause I really can't listen to that song without the feeling that my brain wants to burst out of my skull, it literally has everything that I dislike about music in one 3-minute song, it might just be my autism😅 My guess is Switzerland will never ever win the televote against so many televote powerhouses this year. I have the same reasoning about Italy, my guess is Italy will win because she could convince both juries and televotes, while Croatia and Switzerland will never appeal that much to both.

France feels similar to Italy last year (quality ballad, good vocals, likeable singer) when they received almost the exact same amount of pts from the juries and the televote. Staging and running order are going to play a huge role this year! Although I am not crazy for any of the songs this year, the close race for the trophy makes up for it. :)

This issue with comparing Joost to Kaarija in the jury is that last years the battle was purely Finland v Sweden. Juries were well aware of this and I suspect this led to an uplift in the Finland jury vote score. This year, there are so many more options in the running, I really can’t see this in the top 5 in the jury vote. As far as the televote goes, I think Croatia may edge them out for number 1. Netherlands isn’t getting huge love on the ESC scoreboard or Eurovision world winner poll, but huge streaming numbers so it’s unclear really how it’ll shake out.

I think France didn’t send Slimane to win (though I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if he did 😉) France has one of the lowest viewer numbers by percentage of all participating countries. So by sending a very popular artist, they hope to ramp up the viewer numbers. And if he does well, that may be a lasting effect, as happened in the Netherlands after Anouk 2013.
