- Learned from @organic.archer how to make a traditional Long Bow. Amazing experience.
The process is Bad Ass! Corey is a great teacher.
This was the first class I've taken in a long time.
We custom designed them to fit our needs and wants. Mine;
Hackberry
64" 48 lbs
Rebecca's disappointment is only exceeded by her patience. 😂😂😂
That look she gave was priceless!!!
Half of the reason I watch!😂
Halfway through the making of a bow segment I was thinking, "That is NOT b.d.s.", then Pat Mac said - "Learning new things is b.d.s." & I was set at ease. Muchas grassy ass & keep 'em coming!💪
The Archery season is nearly upon us! Using a self, hand made long bow to take venison would be exceptional Dude Stuff!
Can't wait to bust out my new recurve finally!
Got me looking for some 2/4s and a widdling knife. Seriously pretty cool dude stuff 😎
Awesomeness!!! Never miss an opportunity to view Macman!
🌪️👊😎👌🌪️
Awesome! Love the basic dude stuff.
Hurry, the Normans are coming!
Dude.
This one was at a whole ‘nother level.
That was the best one yet!
Woodworking has never been so intriguing🪵🪓🧵🪶🎯❤️🔥
Awesome, way cooler than the Bow I made from a PBC pipe, Fiber Glass Road Markers and paracord lol
Really cool retired vet idea! Thank you for introducing this pat- I happen to have hackberry all over and agree- nice wood - might give it a whirl
Right on. Nice work!
Gotta love a longbow!
Badass, Pat!
That's AWESOME!
Friggin awesome !!
This is legitness. 👊😎
That bow build from the ground up is badassery.
Awesome. Organic Archer is the real deal too. Making your own bow is some special stuff! Nice work!!
Watch out that is highly addictive!
It's better to use a piece of axe split wood or just a sapling. If it's sawed, the wood grains are violated.
Let it dry for a year or so with the bark on and the edges sealed with glue or something. Best cut it in autumn or winter.
Use something like hazel, maple or ash. That's at least readily available where I live, often grow up as straight saplings and make good bows.
Yew for a longbow or osage orange for flat bows are of course premium but is too expensive for the first try.
You can use green wood, but that won't last long.
Hickory? Ash? Nice tiller. Gitcherself an Osage stave. Nice and snappy.
Wooah.... i have a compound but i'd do anything to make my own recurve the right way.
Dude! There is a class next spring in my Province (that's a State basically, but in a country with even more effed up people in charge than the USA right now) for the specific skill - learn to make your own English Lonbow from a master bowyer. I have a 75lb "shooter" that I've been using for years, but want to build a full power warbow in the 150 ish range, and maybe a 35lb one for a youngster. Great vid as always, Rebecca is still tolerating the dad jokes I see....great lady, you shot the moon with that deal Patrick.
Great job on the bow! Patience pays off!
I learned to bake a pie. Basic dude stuff.
Great to see you making a bow! I used to make a lot of them, I miss doing that. Have to get back at it.
"What do you expect from your future wife?"
"The ability to take my.... dad jokes."
Rebecca is obviously a treasure :D
Yew made a nice bow there!
I see what yew did there
Now I can miss deer just like my forefathers did 😂
This is fantastic, but I am sure this isn't basic dude stuff with advanced wood working. Awesome video Mac as always.
Learning new things....Not Basic?
@patmcnamara you are correct with that. It's just not your basic woodworking technique though.
Building a boat in your basement, a la Leroy Jethro Gibbs?
Pat... you are a real Robinhood😂
My girls (8 & 9) making pancakes, just kicked their brother out the kitchen saying, this is Basic Girl Stuff!! 😂
🇺🇸❤️✝️
I have been wanting to do this forever, but dont have the patience to split staves and whatch them dry for a year. Are these pre dried lumber?
You can cut a sapling in winter and make it out of green wood, but it won't last as long.
Is there a “home defense” option?😅
Ha, thanks for the joke :)
What wood is that
Hackberry
😂😂😂😂😂
Dude, she hasn't wacked you yet?
I made my wife a bow a couple years ago using the shatterproof archery videos here on youtube, it came out pretty good. I had him make a black and pink bowstring too, was awesome.
Wow
