Don’t forget you have to also pull the fuel pump fuse 20A on the expedition. 2001 model, possibly the F-150 as well!!

I didn't think of removing the valve stem. That makes it 100% easy to drain.

I didn't understand the reason or need for the electrical bypass. Perhaps an easier way would be to disconnect the Fuel Line that runs from the fuel tank to the Fuel Filter's intake and connect your hose/ tube to that with a clamp. Then just turn on the ignition and it should pump everything out into your 5 Gal. Gas containers. Same concept as what you did with less effort.
If your fuel pump wasn't working you could still use a fuel siphon pump to pump out the fuel at the Fuel Filter intake line.
