  • Mista Strange has been named the UK's first openly gay rapper. The London born artist has been making waves in the music industry since he came out at the age of 19, and his songs about sex and loving men continue to blow up expectations of what rap music sounds like. Strange discusses how he loves feminine men, his views on gay stereotypes, and why people from his background 'just don't come out'.

It’s great to see someone as young as he, having a clear understanding of who he is.
It’s vitally important for all of us to know who we are and appreciate ourselves for it.

It’s amazing that he got that mentality ,self confidence or self acceptance and bravery to come out at the age of 19 and basically start his life by being his truth self 🙏
I also relate and loved hearing him saying how he doesn’t feel any different by being gay. I always felt like I don’t even like the term gay ,it’s like separates you from everyone else, like you different when I never felt different from anyone else…
Very intelligent well spoken young man. I wish him all the luck in achieving his career goals.

Jon and Strange. Firstly, thank gods for my ( extended) lunch break! 😂😂.
Again so direct and open and honest. What a future role model, Strange, you will be. Incredible!
Again to put perspective on my comments, decades older! Started my " journey" as a teenager at school end of the 70s! FFS! Can't even begin. Imagine having someone like either of you to relate to.
What really resonates with me is Strang's attitude and approach to every day life. If I could eliminate words like flamboyant, camp, effeminate and even gay and consign them to the vocabulary " dustbin" I would.
Again for want of a better expression, " normal blokes, tradies, farmers, business men by and large just want to get on with life. Meet someone, fall in love and have a " bog standard " way of life. End of!
Disclaimer! Not sure if that would include kids ( no thank you!) or even ( cliche!) a bloody dog! 😂.
And sorry, Job, but open relationships... Again a deal breaker.
Level playing field, no messing and just accepted. End of!
Strange, Thank You. Not into rap but I will be checking your music out for sure. Cheers Guys. Utterly brilliant. ❤👌

The majority of gay men are just regular dudes, like the majority of straight men. Flamboyance is an immutable display of vivacious personality and it’s as rare in straight men as it is in gay men.

@@drnstjhn A "regular dude" is any one of the thousands of men you pass on a walk through your city streets and pay no particular attention to because they're not particularly outstanding. They wear the cultural uniforms. Their actions and responses are predictable because they've found a way to blend in to society without activating some bigot's bigotry. Regular dudes allow for terms like "flamboyant" to have meaning.
It's never too soon to start the BS. Welcome to the comments section.

Damn some salty gays in these comments. Shocker Masculine gay men like Feminine gay men. We all have our preferences but im a prime example of being a mid Feminine gay who was able to bag a Masculine "straight" acting gay man. Dont lose hope feminine gays, your Masculine gay is out there somewhere.

    This guy would benefit from:
    1) bottoming more
    2) checking out the experience of country singer Dixon Dallas (not gay, but his lyrics are explicitly gay)
    3) exploring more of the struggles for civil rights in the U.K. and the U.S.A.
    4) watching the movie “I Passed for White”
    5) watching anything that RuPaul has ever done

Good thing that's YOUR preference and there's a flavor for every gay out there. Take me for example, I'm a mid feminine gay with a masculine "straight" acting boyfriend. You kinda sound ignorant and Masc 4 Masc is such a small portion of gay people. My masculine boyfriend loves his fruity boyfriend and he wouldn't want it any other way. You kinda sound like the typical gay who is gonna be single and alone forever but hey it's nothing new.

This is a blk LGBT issue not a global issue tbh .

    • @ArthurBolton-pm6fv

I think Stranges’ experience will relate to those (of all ethnic backgrounds) who come from subcultures within the UK where homosexuality is neither brought up nor entertained if it is. By entertained, and this is anecdotal, i mean that it’s not often that you’ll hear relatives ask the gay uncle (if everybody knows) when he’s looking to marry, how his partner is, and when they’re looking to have children, not as openly that everybody else gets asked those questions regardless of who else is present.
Such an environment, although not explicitly hostile, is not exactly welcoming either- it’s still quite intimidating.
So when you hear Strange equate most gay men with femininity/ flamboyancy, it’s likely because those who express themselves in that way were the only reference he had to how gay men behaved (hearing negative comments about such gay men, seeing portrayals of them online). The other guys who present more masculine, who he thinks he has more in common with, aren’t spoken of in his culture, are rarely seen on social media.

Yes I get it but this conversation is more a blk LGBT issue trust me . They are so many extremely masculine , successful white men who are out ,white gay men tend to have good careers compared to other LGBT in minority community also they is less pressure since they is a little more acceptance , Down low culture is more common among blk men and some other minority group .but heavily affects the blk community . Also lack of representation because they are already a minority group in another minority group. @@ArthurBolton-pm6fv
