So when the King of Sweden (who was a Christian) declared that Sweden was a Christian country and that they would publicly celebrated Christmas and the Nativity he also allowed the pagan citizens of his land (ie the people who hadnt converted to Christianity) to continue celebrating the Norse (|Viking) traditions such as Yuletide and Yule logs and allowed the religion of the Norse gods to be practiced as a minority religion. So no internet Christianity didnt come into Scandinavia and just wipe out the Norse tradition. It was allowed to continued however there were so few who didnt convert that it died out naturally although the tales of the Norse gods did continue to be told (and are still told today) as kind of like fairy tales. in fact the earliest tales of "santa claus" most likely comes from Yuletide as the story of St Nicholas didnt happen till the 1300s which was about 1-2 centuries AFTER the Christianity coming to Scandinavia.
